Gu Moli has to leave to return to his unit tomorrow morning. When I took Su Xingran to work this morning, I made an appointment to have dinner with Gu Moli's friends.
When it was time to leave work in the afternoon, Gu Moli went to the hospital to pick up Su Xingran and took her to the place he had arranged to meet his friends.
When Gu Moli and Su Xingran arrived, several people were already seated in the private dining room. One of them was Zhou Sitao, Gu Moli's childhood friend.
The people in the private room watched as Gu Moli walked in with his wife. They all shared the same thought: the Huang and Gu families were truly a case of "birds of a feather flock together." Gu Moli was already handsome enough among men, and his wife was one of the most beautiful women out there.
Zhou Sitao looked at Su Xingran, this was his disobedient younger sister, the vixen Zhou Siyun had described. He had to admit his sister was right; Mo Li's wife was indeed very beautiful. And a female doctor who had distinguished herself on the battlefield—no wonder his childhood friend, who resembled a monk, was wary.
Gu Moli and Su Xingran took their seats, and Gu Moli introduced his friends to Su Xingran. "Ranran, these are my childhood friends and acquaintances. Zhou Sitao, Li Ruihua, and Ye Mingfan."
Su Xingran greeted them, "Hello, my name is Su Xingran, Gu Moli's wife."
Gu Moli's friends also greeted Su Xingran. "Hello, sister-in-law! We were just saying that Moli is almost thirty and doesn't even have a girlfriend. We didn't expect that he actually has one, but he's been keeping it a secret from us."
Su Xingran glanced at Gu Moli. What could she say? What could Gu Moli say? She and Gu Moli had only truly been together a few months ago.
Gu Moli held Su Xingran's hand under the table and said to his friend without changing his expression, "I've always had a crush on my wife, and I only told her this year. I'm not going to hide it. If I were with my wife earlier, I would definitely bring her to you guys and show her off."
Zhou Sitao teased, "Ha, our Gu family's third young master is having a crush? I thought you were going to the military camp for physical training and some kind of spiritual practice!"
The private room erupted in laughter. Although Su Xingran didn't laugh heartily, a smile played on her lips. She knew Zhou Sitao was Zhou Siyun's older brother. That incident hadn't affected the relationship between the Zhou and Gu families; after all, Old Master Zhou and his children were all clear-headed people.
Throughout the meal, they did most of the talking, while Su Xingran listened. Occasionally, when their conversation turned to themselves, Su Xingran would say a few words. While chatting with his friends, Gu Moli would also put some of Su Xingran's favorite dishes into her bowl.
It was around 8 PM when they finished. Gu Moli didn't rush home with Su Xingran. Instead, he took her to the movies. In Gu Moli's words, he wanted to try all the rituals of being a couple with Su Xingran.
After the movie started, the theater was dimly lit. Gu Moli reached out and took Su Xingran's hand, their fingers intertwined. Thinking about leaving tomorrow, Gu Moli wished time would slow down.
The intense heat from her palm made it impossible for Su Xingran to concentrate on the movie. The thought of the person beside her leaving tomorrow made her feel uneasy. Su Xingran knew the discomfort would pass quickly, but the feeling in her heart at that moment was something she couldn't completely control.
