Chapter 275 The Grand Finale (The End) (1/2)

After the banquet, Su Xingran had promised to take the two children to see the chickens, ducks, and pigs. Su Xingran and Gu Moli took the two children to their great-grandfather's house where the chickens and ducks were kept, and let the children stand outside to watch. The children looked at the chickens and ducks inside the coop, Su Xingran looked at the children watching the chickens and ducks in front of her, and Gu Moli looked at Su Xingran watching the children to the side.

This trip home will last ten days. After deducting travel time, the actual time spent at home will only be about six days. Su Xingran, Gu Moli, and their child went to Su Guomin and his wife's maternal grandfather's house.

Aside from Zeng Huilan's maternal family, the Su family only has relatives in the village. There used to be a Xiao family in the town, but a few years ago, Gu Mo left his sister-in-law Xiao Xue's maternal family and the whole family moved back to Beijing. Xiao Dingyu originally grew up in Beijing, and he owns a house left by his mother, Xiao Baiyu.

Xiao Xue's younger brother, Xiao Yu, was admitted to Peking University and worked in Beijing after graduation. He dated Deng Jianjun's daughter, Deng Wenwen, and they had a son and a daughter after marriage.

The Xiao family never visited Xiao Dingyu even after his father passed away. A life was lost between them, making forgiveness impossible. Even on his deathbed, Xiao Dingyu was on his mind, and he could only depart with regret.

As for the Wei family, Old Master Wei passed away the year after his stroke. Wei Xiongjie became mentally unstable, and Zhao Lihua, who took care of him, also became somewhat abnormal. After the Wei family fell apart, Wei Baozhu married someone, but their marriage was filled with quarrels and their lives were not peaceful.

In the past few days, Gu Moli has almost gotten to know everyone in the village. He asked Su Xingran to show him around the village, retracing the steps she took as a child. Ever since he learned about that incident, Gu Moli had wanted to find a chance to visit that place.

At noon, Gu Moli told Su Xingran that he was going to visit that place. Su Xingran then realized that Gu Moli hadn't truly let go of his resentment. Su Xingran sighed inwardly and asked her parents to take the two children while she and Gu Moli went out.

Su Xingran led Gu Moli up the mountain. Seeing that no one was around, Gu Moli took Su Xingran's hand and they intertwined their fingers tightly. Neither of them spoke on the way up the mountain. As Su Xingran walked this path again, the pain and heartbreak she felt before were gone.

Ever since Su Wenli tried to push Su Xingran off the cliff that year, Su Xingran had taken precautions, and Su Wenli reaped the consequences of her actions. Su Xingran's heart has finally opened up. Over the years, with her parents, her master, Gu Moli, and her child, Su Xingran's inner pain has been soothed.

No matter how much time had passed, Su Xingran immediately found that spot—the spot where she had been pushed in her past life. Su Xingran glanced at Gu Moli beside her and pointed to the spot in front of her.

Gu Moli followed Su Xingran's finger and walked forward. He stood where Su Xingran had pointed, facing the opposite cliff. He closed his eyes and recalled the conversation he had overheard, a scene forming in his mind.

In the scene, seventeen-year-old Su Xingran stands where Gu Moli is now. Caught off guard, she is pushed from behind, and like a bird without wings, she falls downwards.

With a loud thud, Su Xingran fell to the bottom of the cliff and landed on the ground. Blood gushed from her head, slowly soaking the soil. Seventeen-year-old Su Xingran slowly closed her eyes in despair.

Tears streamed down Gu Moli's face from his closed eyes; his heart was being torn apart violently. Gu Moli felt as if his heart was being ripped into pieces, the pain making it hard for him to breathe.

Su Xingran, Gu Moli's lover, wife, Mrs. Gu, Dr. Su, and mother of his child. She lost her life here in her previous life, a mere seventeen years, walking alone into the underworld.

Gu Moli opened his eyes, turned around, took two steps towards Su Xingran, hugged her tightly, and buried his head in her neck. Gu Moli choked out, "Ranran, my heart aches so much. Why didn't I know you before you were seventeen? Why didn't I appear to save you? Why did you have to suffer all this?"
