Chapter 192 Greenhouse Pest Case Solved

Su Jianjun got straight to the point.

Zhao Laosi sneered.

"I told you, why does your Su family get to eat and drink like royalty while we can't even get a bowl of hot soup?"

"Just because of this? You ruined the harvest from three greenhouses? Do you know how much that was worth?"

Su Jianjun slammed his fist on the table and stood up.

"money?"

Zhao Laosi suddenly became excited.

"Your Su family talks about money all the time! Back when there was famine, who gave the last half-bag of cornmeal to the whole village? It was my father! And now? You've built greenhouses and reservoirs, making a fortune, but have you ever thought about helping your fellow villagers?"

Su Jianjun was stunned.

He didn't expect Zhao Laosi to bring up that past event.

Indeed, during the famine in the early 1960s, Zhao Laosi's father, Zhao Laohan, was one of the few people in the village who had stored up grain. He distributed the last of his family's grain to the most needy families, but he himself became bloated from hunger and ultimately did not survive that winter.

"Everyone in the village remembers what happened to Uncle Zhao."

Su Jianjun's tone softened somewhat.

"But what does that have to do with you damaging our greenhouse?"

A hint of madness flashed in Zhao Laosi's eyes.

"Your Su family is capable and makes a lot of money, that's fine, that's because your eldest brother is smart. But why is it that when I come here to apply for a worker position, you reject me because I have a limp?!"

Su Jianjun frowned.

He remembered that when the greenhouse was expanded, Su Jianguo instructed that villagers should be given priority in recruitment.

However, someone like Zhao Laosi, missing a leg, is completely unable to do heavy physical labor.

Working in a vegetable greenhouse is no easy task, so we didn't hire him at the time.

I never expected this guy to do this.

"Do you know that because of this handful of insect eggs, we've lost over ten thousand yuan?"

Su Jianjun questioned.

Zhao Laosi chuckled.

"Tens of thousands of yuan? That's just a drop in the ocean for your Su family! I'm going to make you taste despair too!"

The office door was suddenly pushed open, and Wang Tiezhu rushed in.

"Manager Su, we found this at Zhao Laosi's house!"

He handed over a notebook and several glass bottles.

Su Jianjun opened his notebook, which was filled with detailed records of various insect breeding methods and their destructive effects on different crops.

The glass bottles contained eggs and larvae at different developmental stages, with labels detailing the dates and species.

"You...you even specialize in this?"

Su Jianjun looked up at Zhao Laosi in shock.

A smug look appeared on Zhao Laosi's face.

"I worked as a temporary worker at the agricultural technology station for twenty years, so I have some skills. These insects were carefully bred by me; they eat cucumbers, reproduce quickly, and are highly resistant to pesticides..."

"madman!"

Su Jianjun slammed the notebook onto the table.

"Just for revenge, you actually researched such harmful things?"

"revenge?"

Zhao Laosi suddenly became excited.

"Now that your Su family is rich, do you even care about us poor villagers? You think making a little money makes you so great!"

Su Jianjun was equally angry.

“We had standards when we hired people; we weren’t deliberately making things difficult for anyone. With your health, if you come in and work for a few days, you’ll die here…”

Stop pretending!

Zhao Laosi interrupted him.

"You rich people have no idea what it's like to be poor!"

Su Jianjun took a deep breath and decided to try a different approach.

"Uncle Zhao, do you know that what you're doing is illegal? If the police are called, you could face at least several years in prison."

Surprisingly, Zhao Laosi actually laughed.

"Call the police? Fine, let the whole village see how your Su family bullies honest people! You think I'm the only one who hates you? Let me tell you, there are plenty of people in the village who can't stand you!"

These words gave Su Jianjun a jolt.

He realized that Zhao Laosi's behavior might not just be a matter of personal resentment, but rather reflected the dissatisfaction of some villagers with the rapid development of the Su family's business.

"Who else was involved?"

Su Jianjun asked seriously.

Zhao Laosi turned his face away, refusing to answer.

Su Jianjun walked to the window, looking at the gradually brightening sky and the endless greenhouses in the distance, feeling a mix of emotions.

The elder brother, Su Jianguo, built the family business from scratch, leading them through hard work to achieve their current success. His original intention was to provide a better life for the family, but unexpectedly, this attracted such jealousy and resentment.

After thinking it over, Su Jianjun still felt grateful and called Su Jianguo in the city.

Upon learning this, Su Jianguo simply said, "I'll be right back," and then hung up the phone.

Su Jianjun breathed a sigh of relief when he knew his older brother would be back soon.

He stood by the office window, looking at Zhao Laosi who was tied up, and felt a mix of emotions.

Less than two hours later, a jeep drove into Sujiatun, kicking up dust.

The car door was suddenly pushed open, and Su Jianguo strode in, followed by two uniformed police officers.

The villagers quickly moved aside, whispering amongst themselves.

"elder brother!"

Su Jianjun went to meet him, but Su Jianguo raised his hand to stop him.

Where is he?

Su Jianguo's voice was low and deep.

"He's tied up in the inner room."

Su Jianjun pointed to the small room behind the office.

"but..."

Before his younger brother could finish speaking, Su Jianguo went straight into the inner room.

Pushing open the door, one sees Zhao Laosi tied to a chair, his face bearing a defiant expression.

When Zhao Laosi saw Su Jianguo come in, a hint of panic flashed in his eyes, but he quickly straightened his back.

"Su Jianguo, I'm the one who did it. Kill me or torture me, do whatever you want. If I even frown, it's all your fault!"
