"From this day forward, never appear before my grandson again, or else..."
He didn't finish speaking, but the threatening tone in his words sent chills down Li Jinhua's spine.
"Walk."
Grandpa Zhang turned and walked towards the door, followed closely by his subordinate carrying the child.
No...don't...
Li Jinhua struggled to get up, but due to the severity of her injuries, she was unable to move and could only watch helplessly as her child was taken away.
"Baby...my baby..."
Outside the door, the sound of car engines gradually faded into the distance.
Li Jinhua collapsed to the ground, tears mixed with blood, leaving streaks on her face.
She suddenly remembered how good Su Mingqiang had been to her.
The man who gave her everything, the man who loved her.
"Karma...this is all karma..."
Li Jinhua muttered to herself before fainting in extreme pain and despair.
at the same time.
Sujiatun.
The night was as dark as ink, and the fields of Sujiatun were shrouded in a thin mist.
Su Jianjun squatted in the bushes next to the greenhouse, his eyes fixed on the entrance to the greenhouse area not far away.
This is the seventh consecutive night he has staked out this spot.
All for the sake of catching the person who ruined their greenhouse.
"Manager Su, how about we leave tonight? It's already past midnight."
The young man beside him yawned and said in a low voice.
Su Jianjun shook his head, took out half a hard cornbread from his pocket, and took a bite.
"Wait a little longer. Expert Li from the agricultural research station said these insect eggs only work when released at specific temperature and humidity levels at night. That bastard will definitely come back."
His gaze swept over the dozen or so villagers lying in ambush behind him; they were the most reliable workers at the vegetable base.
To avoid alerting the enemy, they dispersed to several key locations and maintained contact using walkie-talkies.
Su Jianjun touched the flashlight and rope at his waist; these were things he had prepared specifically for this purpose.
Suddenly, a faint static sound came from the walkie-talkie, followed by Li Ergou's deliberately lowered voice, who was guarding the east side.
"Manager Su, there's movement! There's a figure on the western path!"
Su Jianjun was jolted awake and immediately pressed the intercom button.
"Attention everyone, target spotted. Proceed according to plan. Don't alert them."
He crouched low, using the bushes for cover, and moved toward the direction Li Ergou had reported.
Sure enough, on the dirt road leading to the greenhouse, a dark figure was sneaking towards greenhouse number thirteen.
The man was thin and walked with a limp, but his movements were unusually agile. He would stop and look around every few steps.
"It's Zhao Laosi!"
Wang Tiezhu suddenly exclaimed in Su Jianjun's ear, his voice filled with disbelief.
Su Jianjun squinted and carefully examined the object, his heart suddenly racing.
That hunched-over figure, walking with a limp, who else could it be but Zhao Laosi?
This honest, simple-minded, and always smiling old bachelor in his sixties was actually the culprit who destroyed the greenhouse.
"That can't be..."
Su Jianjun muttered to himself, but the facts before him were undeniable.
Zhao Laosi skillfully pried open the lock on greenhouse number thirteen and slipped inside.
"action!"
Su Jianjun gave a low shout and rushed towards the greenhouse first.
The villagers who had been lying in ambush quickly gathered around, and a dozen beams of flashlights lit up at the same time, illuminating the greenhouse as if it were daytime.
Su Jianjun kicked open the shed door, and the sight before him made him grit his teeth.
Zhao Laosi was squatting next to the cucumber trellis, holding a cloth bag in his hand, sprinkling some kind of powdery substance onto the leaves.
Hearing the noise, Zhao Laosi turned around abruptly, his wrinkled face filled with terror.
"Zhao Laosi! What the hell are you doing?"
Su Jianjun roared and rushed forward.
Zhao Laosi reacted unexpectedly quickly. He dropped his cloth bag and fled into the depths of the greenhouse, his movements as agile as an old man.
However, the greenhouse exit had been blocked by villagers, and he was quickly forced into a corner.
"Grab him!"
At Su Jianjun's command, several strong young men pounced on Zhao Laosi and pinned him to the ground.
"Let me go! What right do you have to arrest me!"
Zhao Laosi roared, his voice filled with resentment and venom, a stark contrast to his usual honest demeanor.
Su Jianjun bent down and picked up the cloth bag, which still contained some yellowish-brown particles.
He carefully picked up a few grains and placed them in his palm. He brought them close and smelled them, and a pungent, fishy odor assaulted his nostrils.
"These are insect eggs."
Su Jianjun's voice was as cold as ice.
"Zhao Laosi, what else do you have to say?"
Zhao Laosi suddenly stopped struggling, looked up and glared at Su Jianjun, his eyes flashing with a chilling hatred.
"What did you say? Why is it that your Su family gets rich while we can't even get a sip of soup!"
Su Jianjun then understood why Zhao Laosi had done this; he was envious.
He gestured to the villagers to tie Zhao Laosi up, and then carefully inspected the cucumbers in the greenhouse.
Sure enough, tiny yellow spots could already be seen on some of the leaves.
These are the initial symptoms of the same pests and diseases that caused the previous crop failure in three greenhouses.
“Take him to the office.”
Su Jianjun gave the order in a deep voice.
"Also, immediately check the other greenhouses for signs of damage."
When Zhao Laosi was brought to the vegetable base office, bound hand and foot, it was almost dawn.
Su Jianjun had Zhao Laosi tied to a chair, while he sat behind the desk opposite him, lit a cigarette, and took a deep drag.
"Tell me, why did you do this?"
