Chapter 23 Conditions for Releasing Li Jinhua

Aunt Li's gossipy eyes darted around.

Su Mingde's face turned bright red, and he stammered, unable to give a coherent answer.

He can't exactly say that he was kicked out of the house by his father for stealing money, can he?

How can he face people in this area then?

"I...I'll stay at my workplace for a few days..."

Su Mingde walked past quickly with his head down, wishing he could disappear into a crack in the ground.

As he turned the corner of the alley, several children who were playing jump rope stopped and looked at him curiously.

One of the little girls with pigtails asked in a clear, crisp voice.

"Uncle Su, are you moving?"

Su Mingde forced a smile that looked more like a grimace, quickened his pace, and left the children's sight.

His leather shoes made a hollow "clack-clack" sound on the bluestone pavement, like a farewell song played for him.

When he reached the entrance of the courtyard, Su Mingde finally couldn't help but look back.

The courtyard house where he had lived for more than 20 years looked both familiar and strange in the morning light.

The stone beasts crouching on the gray tiles still look majestic, and the ivy on the courtyard wall is even greener than yesterday.

"Sooner or later..."

Su Mingde gritted his teeth, his eyes behind his glasses flashing with resentment.

"I'll make you beg me to come back on your knees!"

He made a silent vow in his heart.

Waiting for him to marry Meijuan, waiting for him to get a promotion at work, waiting for him to have money...

He was determined to make his father regret his decision today!

When the time comes, he'll see that old geezer crawl over to him like a dog, begging for his life!

This thought coiled around Su Mingde's mind like a venomous snake, making him temporarily forget the humiliation of being kicked out of his home.

He straightened his back and strode towards the neighborhood office, as if a glorious future awaited him there.

Little did he know that not far behind him, Su Jianguo was watching all of this with a cold eye.

Looking at his second son's feignedly strong back and clenched fists, Su Jianguo's lips curled into a cold smile.

"ungrateful wretch..."

He muttered a curse under his breath, hopped on his bicycle, and quickly headed to his eldest son's house.

at the same time.

At Su Mingqiang's home.

The room was filled with the aroma of meat buns.

Su Mingqiang got up early today and went to Old Wang's house in the east of the city to buy the most famous big meat buns and tofu pudding, just to please his grandfather.

"Grandpa, try this bun! It has a thin skin and a generous filling; it's so juicy and flavorful!"

Su Mingqiang eagerly handed the steamed buns to Grandpa Su, his face full of ingratiating smiles.

Grandpa Su squinted and took a bite, the soup dripping down his chin. He nodded in satisfaction.

"Hmm, not bad, much tastier than the ones we make ourselves."

Grandma Su, standing to the side, used a handkerchief to wipe her husband's mouth and said reproachfully.

"Eat slowly, no one's going to take it from you."

Su Mingqiang rubbed his hands together, his eyes darting around.

"Grandpa, you have to keep your word. My wife can manage one day at the station, but if she stays there too long, her job will be..."

"Alright, alright."

Grandpa Su waved his hand impatiently.

"I said I'd let her out, and I definitely will. However, if she comes out and doesn't change her ways..."

The old man didn't say what came next, but Su Mingqiang understood immediately.

The three of them had just finished breakfast when Su Mingqiang couldn't wait to help his grandfather walk outside.

Just as I stepped out of the gate of the family compound, I ran into Su Jianguo, who was rushing over.

"Dad? Mingqiang? Where are you going?"

Su Jianguo looked puzzled, his gaze shifting back and forth between his father and son.

Upon seeing his son, Old Master Su's face immediately darkened, and without saying a word, he raised his cane and struck Su Jianguo.

"You unfilial son! How dare you come to see me!"

"Ouch! Dad! What are you doing?"

Su Jianguo was caught off guard and hit with a stick. He covered his head and jumped to the side.

Why are you getting angry so early in the morning?

"Get angry? I'll beat you to death, you bastard!"

Although Grandpa Su is nearly seventy years old, he is still agile and wields his cane with great skill.

"Is this how you raise your son? And what about that daughter-in-law? She's become so corrupt, haven't you done anything about it?"

Su Jianguo dodged while shouting that he was innocent.

"Oh dear, Dad, I've been so busy with work that I haven't noticed."

Su Mingqiang stood aside, watching his usually stern father being chased all over the yard by his grandfather, and couldn't help but burst out laughing.

"You're still laughing!"

Su Jianguo glared at his eldest son, but before he knew it, the old man hit him with a stick again.

"Ouch! Dad, wait a minute, I'll go deal with this little bastard!"

Grandpa Su stopped, panting, and pointed at his son's nose, scolding him.

"If it weren't for the fact that your father's cooking skills haven't declined over the years, you would have almost gotten beaten up last night."

Su Jianguo was stunned upon hearing this, then his expression changed drastically, and he turned to glare angrily at Su Mingqiang.

"Well, you little bastard! You dare hit your grandpa!"

Before Su Mingqiang could react, Su Jianguo rushed forward, snatched the old man's cane, and turned to hit his son.

"Dad! Dad! Let me explain!"

Seeing that things were not going well, Su Mingqiang turned and ran, but his father grabbed him by the back of his collar.

"Explain my ass!"

Su Jianguo was so angry that his face turned red.

"You little brat, you've grown wings and dare to mess with your grandpa? Today, I'll beat you to death!"

The cane smacked Su Mingqiang on the buttocks with a "smack," and he jumped up with a "whoop!"

"Grandpa, help! My dad's going to kill someone!"

Grandpa Su has recovered by now.
