Chapter 23 Conditions for Releasing Li Jinhua

He stood aside, stroking his beard and watching the show.

"Good for him! He needs to be taught a lesson. Look at my grandson, you've spoiled him rotten."

"I didn't do it; it was Li Jinhua's parents who did it."

Su Mingqiang tried to run away with his head in his hands, but Su Jianguo grabbed him and held him down.

The cane has become round.

"Slap slap"

The ground fell on Su Mingqiang, who screamed like a pig being slaughtered.

"Ah! Grandpa! Grandma! Help! My dad's going to cripple me!"

Hearing the noise, Grandma Su ran out of the house and, seeing the situation, quickly tried to stop them.

"Jianguo! Hey, just a few hits are enough, don't hit him too hard."

Su Jianguo then stopped, panting, and returned the cane to his father.

"Dad, look at the mess this has made. You rest, I'll clean it up."

As he spoke, Su Jianguo angrily went inside to find his in-laws.

Grandpa Su took the cane and suddenly smacked his son again.

"What are you packing for? I'm going to take it all to the police station."

"Ouch!"

Upon hearing this, Su Jianguo rubbed his shoulder and gave a thumbs up.

"Dad, you're amazing! You sent them all in with just one move. Wait, why did you hit me?"

"So what if I hit you?"

Grandpa Su glared.

"It's only right that you discipline your son and I discipline my son!"

Su Jianguo was speechless. He had always enjoyed using this phrase, but he never expected to run into his nemesis today.

soon.

The three of them then went to the police station together.

Although Su Jianguo was a bit disheveled, Grandpa Su hadn't used much force when he hit him. Su Mingqiang, on the other hand, was really hit, and he was covered in bruises.

The gray brick building of the police station looked particularly solemn in the morning light.

Su Jianguo pushed his bicycle at the front.

"Dad, slow down."

Su Jianguo turned around to help his father, but the old man pushed him away with his cane.

"I don't need your fake kindness!"

Grandpa Su snorted, but his steps remained steady.

Today, he specially wore the anti-Japanese war commemorative medal, which had oxidized and turned black, on his chest.

Su Mingqiang lagged behind, walking with a limp.

He kept his head down, but his eyes kept sneaking glances at his father and grandfather in front of him, his eyes filled with resentment.

"arrive."

Su Jianguo stopped the car and dusted himself off.

The police officer on duty at the entrance of the police station was dozing off when he heard footsteps and suddenly looked up.

He first saw Su Jianguo's serious face, then saw Su Mingqiang with a bruised and swollen face behind him, and immediately became alert.

"Comrade, what is it?"

Grandpa Su didn't speak, but simply straightened his chest, the commemorative medal gleaming with a dull light in the sunlight.

The police officer's eyes widened in surprise.

"Old... old commander? What's wrong...?"

"I'm looking for your director."

Grandpa Su's voice wasn't loud, but it carried an undeniable authority.

Less than five minutes later, a round-faced middle-aged man rushed down from the second floor, his police uniform buttoned up incorrectly.

"Old Commander! What brings you here? Please come in!"

The director's office was much cooler than outside, and a cup of hot tea was quickly served.

Su Jianguo noticed that the director gave the father and son enamel mugs, but gave the old man a covered glass cup, which was the director's own cup.

"What are your instructions, sir?"

The director rubbed his hands together, his eyes glancing frequently at Su Mingqiang's wretched face.

Grandpa Su took a sip of tea and spoke slowly and deliberately.

"That shrew who was brought over yesterday is my granddaughter-in-law."

The director's forehead immediately broke out in a sweat.

"This...this...I didn't know they were from your family..."

"Keep it strictly official."

Grandpa Su waved his hand.

"I'm here today so that this good-for-nothing grandson can say a few words to his wife."

He pointed at Su Mingqiang.

"Let his wife know what it means to be filial to his parents-in-law."

The director, feeling as if he had been granted a pardon, immediately stood up.

"No problem! Xiao Zhang! Take this comrade to the detention room!"

Su Mingqiang was led by a young policeman through a long corridor.

At the end of the corridor are two iron gates with the four characters "Strict Enforcement of the Law" painted in red on them.

His legs began to tremble; the hysterical screams of Li Jinhua when she was arrested last night still seemed to echo in his ears.

"Right here."

The police officer took out his key, and the iron gate made a piercing creaking sound.

The detention cell was filled with the pungent smell of disinfectant, mixed with the stench of sweat and urine.

Su Mingqiang covered his nose, and it took his eyes a while to adjust before he could see the figure in the corner clearly.

Li Jinhua huddled on the cement platform, her hair a mess like a chicken coop, her face a picture of dishevelment.

Her fashionable polyester shirt was wrinkled, and the collar was stained with what looked like soup or vomit.

"Jin Hua..."

Su Mingqiang called out softly.

Li Jinhua suddenly looked up, a hint of surprise flashing in her red and swollen eyes, which then turned into raging fury.

"Su Mingqiang! You coward! Why are you only arriving now!"

Her voice was terribly hoarse, as if she had been screaming all night.

The police officer who had led the way tactfully withdrew, leaving the iron gate ajar.
