Chapter Eighteen: New Discovery of Supernatural Abilities

"Beat him up, beat him up. It's better to kill this ingrate as soon as possible, so he won't cause trouble for others when he grows up." From then on, no one dared to take on Wang Daniu's marriage.

Yan Xiaonan was awakened by Wang Daniu's miserable cries. Cuihua was heartbroken. That damned Wang Daniu, a couple of slaps wouldn't kill her, did she have to cry so loudly?

He picked up Yan Xiaonan, patted her back, and gently coaxed her, "Daddy will sleep in bed and start snoring right away. Ooh--snoring, ooh--snoring, Daddy becomes a train engine, pulling the carriages on a dream journey."

Repeating it over and over again, Yan Xiaonan couldn't help but laugh. What kind of nonsense was this? He stood up, hugged Cuihua, and gave her a quick kiss.

Cuihua was so happy she almost cried tears of joy. She was relieved that her daughter hadn't been scared. Grandma Yan, standing next to her, also breathed a sigh of relief. How could her little darling be so capable?

There was a loud knocking on the door, and Wang Daniu's cries came from outside: "Beinan, Beinan, save me! My parents are going to beat me to death!"

Everyone looked at each other curiously. Why was Wang Daniu looking for Bei Nan after being beaten? Xue Mei's voice came in: "Bei Nan is at Widow Zhang's door. Go look for him there."

The knocking stopped, and the footsteps gradually faded away. Grandma Yan said to Cuihua, "Cuihua, have Qiangzi tell Beinan that our family can't accept a girl like Wang Daniu."

Cuihua nodded: "Mother, you've hit the nail on the head. That girl is lazy, greedy, and has no filial piety. Whoever marries her will be doomed."

“But Bei Nan is a boy, he’s very carefree, we don’t want him to be fooled by her,” Cuihua said worriedly.

Grandma Yan nodded: "The North and South are not like the Southwest. I am still very at ease with him. As long as he is unwilling, no one can fool him."

Yan Xiaonan nodded silently. Old ginger is spicier; his mother was far too inexperienced. Suddenly remembering an old ox, he pointed outside and said, "Milk, cow."

Grandma Yan, of course, understood what her little darling meant, and nodded, saying, "Let's go later, after they've all gone to sleep."

Yan Xiaonan nodded, then pointed to the door and said, "Go, say it." Sigh, when will I be able to express myself completely?

Grandma Yan smiled. Her own child was well-behaved and kind; she was afraid the old ox would get impatient, so she had to give it a heads-up first.

The old ox looked at Nan Nan and mooed. Nan Nan patted the old ox's head and said, "Good evening, wait."

Grandma Yan was practically dying of laughter. How could her daughter be so adorable? If you speak one word at a time, how could the old ox understand? In fact, the old ox wasn't relying on listening, but rather on Yan Xiaonan's mental communication.

Moo, the old ox nodded human-like. Yan Xiaonan pointed to the door: "Grandma, go back." Oh, so she's going back inside. Grandma Yan swallowed hard. Well, she'd forgotten her little darling was a fairy again.

Cuihua and Yan Xiaoqiang started preparing what they would bring to Cuihua's parents' home tomorrow: a large piece of wild boar meat weighing at least 20 jin, a bag of cornmeal weighing 50 jin, and several jars of their own pickled radish and dried vegetables.

There were also the fruit candies and big meat buns I bought today. After thinking about it, I realized that I had already taken six out of the twenty-odd ones, so six would be enough. Grandma Yan then suggested, "Ten of them, that would be perfect. We're going too."

Yan Xiaoqiang nodded, took a basket, and put in meat buns, fruit candies, and red ribbons for the little girls. He also took some clothes that the girls from the north, south, and southwest had outgrown.

My younger brother's child is only four or five years old this year, so these clothes can't be wasted. Cuihua is hardworking, and she washes every single piece of clothing very clean.

Grandma Yan packed up the bowls, chopsticks, clothes, and other items that Nan Nan would need, so that they could be put on the oxcart after dinner.

Suddenly, Cuihua seemed to remember something, went into the room, took out a bundle and handed it to Grandma Yan: "Mother, don't forget this tomorrow. It's a long journey, and Nannan will be cold."

Grandma Yan nodded. She remembered everything that concerned Yan Xiaonan.

Xuemei was busy in the kitchen again. In addition to preparing dinner for tonight, she also had to prepare breakfast for tomorrow, as well as pack food and drinks for the journey. They were leaving early tomorrow morning.

Grandma Yan locked herself in her room. No one would be home tomorrow or the day after, so she had to hide her things well. She sewed all the money and tickets she could take with her into her inner pocket.

All the things that couldn't be taken were hidden at the very back of the kang (heated brick bed). There was a movable brick there; you could put a lot of things inside it if you took it out.

He carefully checked the house to make sure it was safe before running to Cuihua's room and telling her to hide her things well that night.

Yan Xiaonan watched as Cuihua hid things, sometimes stuffing them in, sometimes taking them out, and sometimes stuffing them in a different place, constantly torturing herself.

If only there were still some room for her own benefits, her mother wouldn't have to go through all this trouble. Suddenly, the handkerchief pouch in Cuihua's hand disappeared.

Cuihua was startled, and Yan Xiaonan was even more startled. "Where's the handkerchief? Come out!" Cuihua looked at the handkerchief in her hand, her heart pounding.

She looked at Yan Xiaonan and said, "You're the one who did this." Yan Xiaonan was speechless and replied, "I didn't know either."

Cuihua was excited and hurriedly brought all the things she valued to the kang (a heated brick bed). She said to Yan Xiaonan, "Daughter, these are my treasures. Why don't you help me keep them safe for a while?"

Yan Xiaonan looked at the things and thought about hiding them. Sure enough, the things disappeared. Cuihua was happy, mainly because she felt relieved. But Yan Xiaonan was troubled. Where did all the things go?

I should have my own space, but where is it? I can't find it no matter how hard I look. Maybe I'm still too small, and many functions can't be displayed.

I don't want to think about it anymore, it gives me a headache. As long as what goes in can come out, I'll know naturally when the time comes.

Yan Xiaonan's thinking is correct. Those things that are inherently fantastical cannot be understood simply by thinking with your brain. You should go feed the oxen instead.

Cuihua carried Nannan to Grandma Yan's room and secretly told Grandma Yan what had just happened. Grandma Yan's eyes lit up like light bulbs.

"Come, come, baby, help Grandma hide it." Grandma Yan took off the needle and thread from her inner garment, took out the money and tickets, wrapped them in a handkerchief, and handed them to Yan Xiaonan.

Yan Xiaonan looked at the handkerchief pouch and hid it. The handkerchief pouch disappeared. Grandma, still childlike, asked Yan Xiaonan to conjure it up. Yan Xiaonan thought about it and sure enough, the handkerchief pouch appeared.

"Hahahaha," Grandma Yan was truly relieved. From now on, she wouldn't be afraid of having good things at home. As long as Nan Nan was willing, she could hide the things in the mountains.

Suddenly remembering something, he nervously got off the kang (a heated brick bed), ran to the door, looked around, and closed the door.

"Nan Nan, my precious baby, you can't transform in front of other people. If someone sees you, you'll be stolen away, and I'll never find you again."
