Chapter Nineteen: Off to Grandma's House (shuhaige.net)

Yan Xiaonan was startled. Yes, she couldn't let anyone know that she had special abilities, especially Bei Nan. For some reason, she was always worried about this person.

"Grandma, North or not?" Sigh, when will I be able to explain it clearly?

Grandma frowned deeply, wanting to pick up her pipe for a couple of puffs, but remembering that Nannan was still young, she put down the pipe, picked up Nannan, and asked:

"Baby, did you say we can't let Bei Nan know?"

Yan Xiaonan nodded. "Grandma is really smart."

"Why?" Grandma Yan asked.

Yan Xiaonan tilted her head, thought for a moment, and pointed to her chest, saying, "Black, this."

Grandma Yan nodded and said to Cuihua, "Cuihua, Beinan is also your son, but you heard what Nannan said, right? You have to be careful."

Cuihua was a little at a loss. How did it become that Bei Nan was a black-hearted child? Yan Xiaonan covered her face. It wasn't black-hearted, it was cunning. It was completely different, okay?

Actually, Grandma Yan couldn't understand either. Bei Nan was just a little cunning, not bad at all. So why did Nan Nan say he was heartless? Never mind, listening to the fairy is always the right thing to do.

Poor Bei Nan was nearly ruined by Nan Nan's inarticulate speech, and the days ahead are going to be tough.

Fortunately, Nan Nan was secretly making it up to him, otherwise he really wouldn't have been able to survive.

In the dead of night, two adults carrying a child sneaked up to the old ox. Cuihua put the withered grass into the trough and went to prepare hot water.

Nan Nan closed her eyes. "Green grass, come."

The old ox watched as the withered grass in the trough slowly turned green and tender, and it eagerly began to eat. By the time Cuihua brought out the hot water, all the grass had been eaten.

Nan Nan put his mind at ease and fell into a deep sleep, but Grandma Yan and Cuihua tossed and turned, unable to sleep, especially Cuihua, who also had Bei Nan as her son.

Yan Xiaoqiang was woken up by Cuihua tossing and turning, and said with a smile, "Can't you sleep because you're going back to your parents' house tomorrow?"

Cuihua sat up and said, "Honey, I have something to tell you."

When Cuihua told Yan Xiaoqiang about what happened today, Yan Xiaoqiang also became serious and said to Cuihua, "We must believe Nannan's words. Do you remember my second brother? Isn't he an ingrate?"

Speaking of Yan Erqiang, Cuihua's heart skipped a beat. Could Beinan be like her second uncle? That would be too disheartening. Amitabha, ancestors, please bless my family.

Yan Erqiang said dismissively, "What's there to be afraid of? We have Nannan."

Looking at Yan Xiaonan sleeping soundly, he happily kissed his daughter's rosy cheeks. Nannan is so beautiful, Nannan is God's little blessing.

Seeing her husband's expression, Cuihua felt reassured. Her husband was right; with Nannan around, there was nothing to fear.

Nan Nan, burdened with this important responsibility, paid no attention to any of that. Sleep was the priority. After all, a woman needs to get enough sleep to be beautiful, right?

As dawn broke, everyone in the family except Yan Xiaonan got to work. Xuemei and Dongnan prepared breakfast and food to take with them, while Yan Xiaoqiang and Cuihua loaded things onto the oxcart.

Grandma Yan, of course, stayed with Nan Nan, who was still fast asleep. Southwest and North Nan wandered around the house, checking where the fire needed to be turned off and where the windows and doors needed to be closed.

Nan Nan finally woke up. Thank goodness, it was still early morning, so she didn't miss anything. Nan Nan felt a little embarrassed, but she comforted herself.

Breakfast consisted of half a large meat bun and some porridge for each person. Southwest and North South ate with gusto, while Yan Xiaoqiang gave North South a disdainful look, thinking that she really did look like an ingrate.

Look at the meat buns, it's obvious that the southwest half is smaller and the north half is larger. Humph, I'll let it go today, but I'll never tolerate this again, Yan Xiaoqiang kept grumbling to himself.

Bei Nan was a little uneasy. Why was her father looking at her so unfriendly today? After looking around suspiciously, Yan Xiaonan guiltily drank her special millet porridge, not daring to lift her head.

Finally, everything was cleaned up. Xuemei helped Grandma Yan onto the oxcart, Cuihua handed Nannan to Grandma Yan, and she and Yan Xiaoqiang checked everything carefully again.

If they don't come back for two days, our broken home is worth a fortune. We can't let someone steal it. Although good things are hidden in places no one knows, we can't let them be lost for no reason.

Yan Xiaoqiang, wearing a thick cotton-padded coat and a large cotton hat that only revealed his eyes, sat in front driving the oxcart. Several children spontaneously formed a circle around their grandmother and Yan Xiaonan.

Cuihua was still worried that her little girl would be cold, so she wrapped Yan Xiaonan up completely in a blanket. Yan Xiaonan was anxious; she wanted to see the scenery along the way, even though there wasn't much to see in the dead of winter.

Grandma smiled, her eyebrows curving as she looked at Yan Xiaonan's anxious expression. She carefully revealed Yan Xiaonan's eyes, but Yan Xiaonan was destined to be disappointed.

My dad and older brother were blocking my view, and when I turned around, my mom was blocking my view too. Oh well, I guess I'll just go to sleep. I closed my eyes.

But Yan Xiaonan, who had just had a good sleep, couldn't fall back asleep. So she decided to try out her superpower. Her consciousness slowly spread out, starting from the carriage and extending towards the other side of the mountain.

A narrow, rugged path, only wide enough for one person to walk on, was where several pheasants were foraging for food, but they couldn't find a single worm after searching for a long time.

Going uphill, in a small cave, rabbits were gathered together munching on carrots. Huh, where did these carrots come from? Maybe they were stolen from the villagers? Perhaps, every household still has a few carrots.

A wild boar was going berserk, ramming its head against a tree repeatedly, seemingly determined to knock it down. Something was on the tree, and it started to climb up.

There was a newborn leopard cub, shivering on a tree, calling out for its mother. Suddenly, the wild boar turned around.

It turned out that the mother leopard had returned. She was a small leopard. Yan Xiaonan's maternal instincts were overflowing. This leopard couldn't die, otherwise the leopard cubs in the tree would be doomed.

The little hand inside the blanket stirred, and the wild boar inexplicably did a few somersaults. Yan Xiaonan was so excited; it really worked! She had actually defeated the big tiger last time!

Then, the hand moved again. The wild boar was bewildered by the attack. After looking around, it took off running. The leopard glanced in Yan Xiaonan's direction, leaped up, and the little leopard followed closely behind.

A wave of sleepiness washed over her, and Yan Xiaonan yawned, closed her eyes, and fell asleep. Unbeknownst to her, while she was asleep, the entire mountain trembled slightly.

The oxcart traveled for half a day. Yan Xiaoqiang placed the prepared hay in the makeshift trough. The old ox sniffed the smell, took a step back, and then gulped down a few mouthfuls of water.

Yan Xiaoqiang understood what Lao Niu meant, but he couldn't afford to be reckless at this crucial moment, so he whispered to Lao Niu, "Let's eat tonight."
