Side Story 5: The Younger Generation of the Yan Family

Liu Jin approached Yan Ran: "I'm getting married, but my girlfriend doesn't have any friends. Could you be her bridesmaid?"

Yan Ran nodded excitedly. She was thirty years old this year and had been a bridesmaid more than ten times, but she had never been a bride, which seemed to be a bit of a regret.

Mom was very anxious. Even Yan Feng had dated several women, so how could you not have a boyfriend? Dad, on the other hand, didn't care. He said that there was no use in being anxious if the time wasn't right.

Fate, I don't know where her fate lies. I entered the University of Science and Technology at the age of eighteen, and devoted my enthusiasm to books and the playground every day, missing out on so many suitors.

It's laughable that I thought they were flies, annoyingly buzzing around me every day. But now, those flies—no, those classmates—have all started families, some even married young and have kids old enough to run errands.

Looking around, it seems that she is the only one in her class who is not married yet, but she doesn't even have a boyfriend, so who can she marry?

Liu Jin was very considerate; he not only sent bridesmaid dresses but also jewelry. Yan Ran put on the glittering jewelry, wore the flowing bridesmaid gown, and stood in front of the mirror admiring herself.

"I may not be as pretty and lively as Sister Yushu, but I'm not bad-looking either. Why doesn't anyone marry me?" Yan Ran muttered to himself as he looked at himself in the mirror.

"Will you marry me? If you're willing to marry me, I'll marry you." A man's voice appeared, startling Yan Ran. Looking at the man who had suddenly appeared in the mirror, her face flushed instantly.

That was Yan Zheng's comrade-in-arms, but he has now retired and is the director of a police station in Beijing. Yan Ran met this director during an act of bravery.

Both of them sustained minor injuries and were taken to the hospital. The director then visited Yan Ran from time to time, and Yan Ran thought it was because the director felt guilty.

"How could you say such a thing? We've never been in a relationship," Yan Ran stammered.

"Who said we haven't talked? I often come to talk to you, but I'm also stupid. I wanted to make things clear several times, but I just didn't dare to say it. Today, I want to tell you that I like you and I want to marry you."

Yan Ran was overjoyed, but her strict upbringing kept her as a girl: "I think we should get to know each other first, and if it works out, then we can talk about marriage."

"As you wish, I'll be the best man today, and you'll be the bridesmaid. Let's go."

Yan Ran then remembered that this guy also had a very good relationship with Tian Ru.

Yan Xiaonan went down the mountain again. She looked around, trying to see if Enming had returned. This guy would only call her once a year and then disappear without a trace.

Today is Liu Jin's wedding day, but this guy didn't even show up. Yan Xiaonan was both angry and heartbroken. What kind of cultivation secrets is he learning? Is he really cultivating to transcend time?

A young assistant nervously approached Liu Jin and whispered a few words in his ear. Liu Jin's expression darkened as well. Zhuang Mengdie had committed suicide and had been taken to the hospital, but her life was not in danger.

After glancing at his assistant, Liu Jin decisively said, "Tell that annoying woman, if you want to die, then die. Don't bother me, or I'll definitely kick her out of the film company."

The assistant nodded, ran to the side to make a phone call, and then quickly hung up, looking relieved. Liu Jin shook his head with amusement.

The wedding march had already started, and the girl, arm in arm with Liu Jin, walked towards the stage. Facing the audience, Yan Xiaonan and Yu Shu looked at the bride's face, which seemed somewhat familiar.

Yu Shu suddenly said, "Mom, isn't this bride the daughter of that jeweler from Taiwan? How come she's marrying Liu Jin?"

Tianru laughed too. The bride's biological mother had died, and her biological father had found her a stepfather. The stepmother wanted to marry her off to her nephew, but her nephew was a typical playboy. The bride refused and ran away with her money.

Unexpectedly, I ran into Liu Jin. The two of us are ten years apart in age, and we don't know how to talk to each other. I'll have to ask him properly when I have time.

Yan Xiaonan smiled. This must be the fate that Yan Aidang was talking about. It really was love at first sight.

However, she looked at Tianru and asked with a smile, "When will my Tianru find me a daughter-in-law?"

Tianru blushed and stammered, "Mom, you're too young to be a mother-in-law."

"Auntie, let me introduce you. This is my boyfriend, he is..." Yan Ran walked over, but Yu Shu interrupted him before he could finish his sentence.

"Hey, aren't you Director Chen? How come you're with my sister? You two kept it a secret from us so well," Yu Shu said, pointing at the two of them.

Director Chen found it somewhat amusing. He had never intended to hide it; it was just that his sister, being such a blockhead, had finally come to her senses.

Yan Xiaonan greeted them with a smile. Director Chen finally saw the legendary Yan Xiaonan and thought it was really unbelievable that someone who was almost fifty years old still looked like a young woman.

"Ranran, take your boyfriend to tell your parents, let them be happy too," Yan Xiaonan said.

Yan Ran nodded somewhat embarrassedly and took Director Chen to meet his parents. Yan Xiaonan's consciousness spread over, and sure enough, Ye Chen'er had a satisfied smile on her face, while Yan Aidang had obvious struggles on his face.

Yan Xiaonan seemed to see her own father in his face. When Ye Chenming was pursuing her, her father had the same sour expression.
