Chapter 46 Talking about the Dried Vegetable Business (2/2)

Yang Huaiyuan and his daughters tried to comfort their mother, but she cried so hard that the brigade leader's ears hurt from the noise, but he had no choice but to go and take a look.

Everyone else left, leaving only the Lu family members.

Yang Lin remained seated on the ground, blood from his head flowing down his body, his eyes darting around.

"Never mind him, eldest daughter-in-law, go cook."

"Boss, go start the fire for your wife."

Lu Rong glanced coldly at her husband, her eyes filled with icy glint.

She held Qiao Wanyue's hand, her eyes full of smiles as she looked at her. "Wanyue, thank you, Mom."

Qiao Wanyue smiled and said, "Mom, we're all family, no need to thank me. I bought that car, and I didn't want my father-in-law to take it away."

Lu Rong nodded, "After today's incident, everyone recognizes your car. If your father-in-law still wants to push it onto the Yang family, then he's truly shameless."

Qiao Wanyue glanced at her father-in-law sitting on the ground.

But that's not what she really thought. Her father-in-law had no shame; if the Yang family stirred things up, he would do anything for them.

"Mom, I have something to tell you." Qiao Wanyue pulled her mother-in-law into the room.

Qiao Wanyue pulled her mother-in-law into her room and sat her down on the bed, pressing her shoulders down.

Lu Rong looked at her daughter-in-law with suspicion. She cautiously closed the door and then looked under the window to see if anyone was hiding.

She asked in a low voice, "Wanyue, is something the matter?"

Qiao Wanyue told Lu Rong about the dried vegetable business that Aunt Li had mentioned during the day.

Upon hearing this, Lu Rong frowned. "Wanyue, I'm not trying to discourage you, but the investigation is very strict now. If the brigade finds out that we're doing this in secret, it won't be good for you or Yunzhou."

Qiao Wanyue knew immediately that she had misunderstood.

"Mom, it's like this, Aunt Li wants a large quantity, and I plan to talk to the team leader and ask the commune to act as a go-between so that we can establish contact with the state-owned factory. That way, we won't be doing private business."

Lu Rong was shocked. "Is that okay?"

Qiao Wanyue smiled and said, "Aunt Li works at a state-owned factory. Since she brought it up, the leaders must have this in mind. Now it's just a matter of seeing how much dried vegetables we can provide, and she doesn't have a limit."

This is good news for the commune, for our brigade and for other brigades as well.

Although things are better now than a few years ago, and people aren't starving, life is still tough for every household. They can barely afford to eat their fill. If we want everyone to have a better life, we must develop side businesses.

The village had tried sideline businesses before; the commune had even facilitated such ventures. However, the village lacked technicians and leaders, leading to unequal distribution of profits and causing significant conflicts.

And that was the end of it.

Lu Rong was worried that if Qiao Wanyue acted as a go-between, the villagers would resent Wanyue because of the unequal distribution of money.

Qiao Wanyue understood her mother-in-law's concerns. Her family had started their business by opening shops, and the current equal distribution of labor would lead to resentment among those who did more work. However, if the distribution were based on labor, that would not be the case.

She presented her initial ideas.

After listening, Lu Rong remained silent for a while. "Take the pork leg you brought today, and Mom will go with you to the brigade leader's house."

Lu Rong agreed.

Qiao Wanyue smiled and hugged her. "Thank you, Mom."

Lu Rong's eyes were full of smiles. "No need to thank me. Yunzhou isn't home. You're my own daughter."

The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law looked at each other and beamed with joy.

After the meal, Lu Rong asked his eldest son's wife to clear the dishes, then took the pig's leg and went out. Yang Lin watched him take the pig's leg out and paced anxiously, but Lu Rong could see through his thoughts and pretended not to notice.

"Wanyue, let's go."
