Chapter Thirty-Five: Heart Fluttering

As a well-known tycoon in City A, He Zhan's popularity remains unaffected despite his brief previous marriage.

In the more than ten years since his first wife passed away, countless wealthy heiresses and self-assured young ladies from modest families have tried to woo him, but he has never given in.

It's not that he doesn't know how to cherish women, nor that he doesn't like women.

It's not that he's still hung up on his ex-wife.

He and his ex-wife were childhood sweethearts. Because of the friendship between their families and the bond they shared growing up together, he liked his wife, but that feeling was more like that of a little sister who needed his care.

When both sets of elders wanted them to get married, he didn't feel anything in his heart. He wasn't opposed to it, and he thought that spending his life with her wasn't unacceptable, so the two of them got married naturally.

He was heartbroken when his wife passed away, but not with the agonizing despair of losing a loved one; rather, it was more like the grief of losing a family member. His long-term single status was simply due to his strong career focus and his unwillingness to engage in casual relationships.

The women who expressed their affection for him could not stir his heart.

Once, when he was drunk, he confided in a friend and was ridiculed. The friend laughed at him, saying that a man in his forties was still thinking about true love. He said that if he didn't enjoy life and didn't know how to enjoy it, what was the point of working so hard to make money?

He didn't refute the other person's statement, but at his level, there was nothing he could force himself to do. He simply didn't like it, and he didn't want to change anything.

Although he had lived a life of asceticism and celibacy like a robot for over a decade, He Zhan still possessed normal aesthetic sense. When he first met Tang Xiaoxiao, he thought she was very beautiful, a rare beauty, but it was merely a pure appreciation of beauty, without any other thoughts arising.

Tang Xiaoxiao was old enough to be his daughter. As they got to know each other better, he showed more tolerance and affection for the younger generation, just like he did for his nephew He Haisheng.

However, Tang Xiaoxiao was more outstanding and more likable than his nephew.

However, the woman who claimed to be Tang Xiaoxiao's older sister, whom he met today, had similar facial features to her younger sister, but gave him a completely different feeling.

It was a strong attraction from the opposite sex, a strange yet exciting thrill. He spoke calmly and politely, but in reality, his blood seemed to be boiling.

He wasn't some clueless naive young man. Although he had almost no romantic experience, he knew what his uncontrollable emotional reactions meant.

He gave Tang Xinxin a deep look, then instructed the people around him to inform the front desk that the meal would be free. With a perfect smile on his face, he nodded goodbye to the two sisters.

Neither of them noticed anything unusual about He Zhan. After he left, Tang Xinxin curiously inquired a few more questions. She knew that her sister's main sales channels for the products she grew were Xu Mingliang in Y City and a powerful businessman in A City. Xu Mingliang was also her cousin, so she was naturally familiar with him. As for the other man, she had only heard of him by name and had finally met him today.

The two didn't discuss each other's private affairs in much detail. Tang Xiaoxiao simply told her sister about the He family's business situation, and Tang Xinxin sighed, "He's still a diamond bachelor," before changing the subject.

After a leisurely meal, with forty minutes to spare before the movie started, the two took Xuanxuan to the cinema, exchanged their tickets, and bought a large bucket of popcorn and cola. They then waited in the lounge area to enter.

Tang Xiaoxiao watched the two-and-a-half-hour movie absentmindedly. She didn't really like watching movies and TV shows, finding the pace too slow, especially TV dramas. A plot that could be summarized in a single sentence in writing would take tens of minutes to film.

And the plots of these animated films for children are even more lackluster. The main selling points are the animation production and special effects, but Tang Xiaoxiao, with her past life's perspective, genuinely finds the special effects from ten years ago uninteresting.

However, even though she was bored, she couldn't spoil the fun for Tang Xinxin and her daughter, especially for Xiao Xuanxuan. Although she was only in the third grade of elementary school, her schoolwork was already very heavy, and she had to attend all sorts of tutoring and extracurricular classes outside of class, so she rarely had time to relax. Since she had finally brought her out, she naturally wanted her to have as much fun as possible.

It was past midnight when the movie ended. Xuanxuan had been engrossed in watching it, but children can't stay up all night. After leaving the movie theater and getting into the car, she leaned against Tang Xinxin and drifted off to sleep.

Fortunately, the next day was the weekend, and Xuanxuan's tutoring was in the afternoon, so she didn't need to get up early and staying up late wouldn't cause any problems.

Meanwhile, He Zhan returned to the villa and went to his office. There was already a document in his email inbox, which was the information he had asked someone to look up after he left the restaurant.

Opening the file revealed Tang Xinxin's personal experience.

He Zhan had no interest in prying into personal privacy. When he instructed his people to investigate, he emphasized that illegal means were not allowed to be used to dig deeper. He only needed to get some basic information.

Tang Xinxin's information is not difficult to find; almost everything is transparent, and it can be easily obtained with a few inquiries. Tang Xinxin is thirty-three years old this year. In her senior year of high school, because of her outstanding appearance, she was often harassed by thugs outside of school and lost interest in her studies, so she dropped out and stayed at home. Not long after, she was introduced to Chen Yong, who lived in the same town, and they fell in love. They married two years later, and gave birth to a daughter three years after their marriage. When their daughter was three years old, they divorced due to incompatibility. Tang Xinxin left with nothing, only wanting custody of her daughter.

After the divorce, Tang Xinxin temporarily stayed at her parents' home. Not long after, because the Chen family spread rumors, she moved to City A with her daughter to avoid gossip.
