Chapter 9 won't affect my drinking.

The methods of going down into the coal mine vary depending on the geographical location, and there are generally three forms.

One is a horizontal well, with no slope at the wellhead, it's straight and you can even drive in.

It is said that in later generations, there was a mine where train cars could drive in, but whether that's true or not is unknown.

One type is an inclined shaft, which has a downward slope.

Workers need to take rail transport vehicles or trolleys to go down into the mine.

The "monkey cart" was simply an iron pipe with a seat welded onto it, suspended from a winch. Workers sitting in it looked comically like monkeys.

If the mine's output is relatively small, the workers are very likely to have to walk down, which is extremely tiring.

The other type is the vertical shaft.

This refers to the underground method used at Linxi Coal Mine.

Because the coal seam is deep, it is most suitable to use a winch to pull the cage to transport workers.

After Wu Changfeng and the others entered the cage, the ropes were lowered, like an elevator slowly reaching the bottom of the well.

The alleyway was equipped with explosion-proof lights, and visibility was acceptable.

It was the strong wind blowing into the main tunnel that made Wu Changfeng shake violently.

I walked silently for half an hour.

After many twists and turns, we entered the working face, where a heavy tunneling machine weighing over 50 tons was parked in the coal and rock.

Section Chief Liu, holding a wooden stick, angrily pounded on the excavator's cover: "Come on, fix it! If you can't fix it, you're not going to see the light of day again!"

Mine Manager Huo snapped, "Shut up!"

Wu Changfeng sneered: "Section Chief Liu, blocking someone's path to wealth is tantamount to killing their parents. Arguing with me is useless; a gentleman loves money, but acquiring it in a proper way is the right path."

"I'll say it again! I didn't take any kickbacks!" Section Chief Liu's face flushed red, and he glared fiercely.

Wu Changfeng shrugged: "What does it have to do with me? You're standing in the wrong place, blocking my way."

"Get it open! The control panel won't open!"

Wu Changfeng shoved the troublesome guy aside.

He casually gestured to the repairman, "Take the cover off."

No one moved... no one responded.

Everyone looked around.

You, an outsider, are ordering state-owned enterprise employees around?

You're such a jerk!

Mine Manager Huo kicked the maintenance worker in the butt: "Get to work! Damn it, you've really spoiled yourselves!"

The repairman also had a bad temper: "When I want to work, nobody can stop me. When I don't want to work, nobody can stop me!"

Section Chief Liu silently gave him a thumbs up.

In state-owned enterprises, if employees respect you, it's because you're their leader.

I don't care about you, get lost!

What can you do about firing me? I'm a permanent employee. I'm a big shot in the company!

Director Huo, having lost face, paced back and forth, pointing his finger and cursing.

Wu Changfeng crossed his arms and said, "Manager, the toilets in our office building aren't very clean. Why don't you send a few employees to clean them properly?"

Mine Manager Huo immediately realized what was happening and, instead of being angry, laughed loudly: "You lot, your positions have changed. Go and clean the toilets properly; that's also contributing to the mining area. Now get out of here!"

The repairmen felt nauseous.

How could Wu Changfeng be so despicable and shameless!

They just play dirty tricks!

What kind of permanent employee would be assigned to clean toilets? That's ridiculous!

How am I supposed to face people after this?

All eyes turned to Section Chief Liu: What's going on? Give us an answer!

Everyone is listening to your slander and going against you.

You get promoted, and everyone will be living the high life.

Damn it, we're about to eat shit, can't you give me some advice?

Section Chief Liu forced a smile that looked more like a grimace and said, "Director, they were just confused for a moment, and it's understandable that they're a bit xenophobic."

"What are you all standing there for? Can't you even tighten a few screws?"

The repairmen quickly took out their tools and removed the cover plate.

Wu Changfeng glanced inside.

Two rows of multi-way valves and various small parts, along with a dense network of oil pipes.

There was no oil leak, even though Wu Changfeng studied mechanics in his previous life.

However, there are still some differences when it comes to different types of equipment.

Although the principles are the same, some specially constructed parts cannot be found in books.

According to a business story from the 1990s, the surface fault of the imported tunneling machine at Linxi Coal Mine was in the tension valve assembly.

Another underlying reason is the shuttle valve.

A deeper reason is that the hydraulic oil was contaminated.

In order to pinpoint the fault and prevent any deviations, Wu Changfeng instructed the workers to start the equipment.

The oil pump made a humming sound as it was driven by the motor.

Shaking the control lever, the equipment remained motionless.

After receiving confirmation, Wu Changfeng felt more confident.

He beckoned a repairman over: "I'm here to test you."

"You're testing me? Who do you think you are?" the repairman said casually, looking defiant.

Wu Changfeng chuckled and said, "I'm not even a big shot in your coal mine. But I can make you shovel manure!"

"This is difficult to handle," said Manager Huo, who was very sensible. "The farmyard manure has all been bought up, but we can still try to get some."

The repairman's jaw clenched, then he breathed a sigh of relief: "So, what are you testing me on?"

Which valve group supplies oil for track tensioning?

Wu Changfeng genuinely didn't know where the tension valve was, but the tension valve had only one function: to adjust the tightness of the tracks.

This is something every maintenance worker must know: the tracks need to be adjusted periodically to prevent them from veering off course during tunneling.

"This is it." The repairman pointed to a white valve assembly.

"Take it apart, pull out the valve core, and clean it with diesel fuel."

This time, under his command, the maintenance workers dared not act recklessly.

Nobody wanted to be disgusted by Wu Changfeng anymore, so they just worked honestly.
