Chapter 20: Look down on the high school entrance examination results

Seeing that her parents didn't believe her, Zhang Nini was furious and told them how she ran into Zhang Wanwan and her daughter setting up a stall at Century Plaza. She also asked why Zhang Wanwan didn't give her face and just covered up her own affairs.

Zhang Jianguo was a little shocked when he heard that Zhang Jianye was setting up a street stall, while Huang Guilian looked down on that family even more. In the past, he looked down on that family but would still give Zhang Jianguo some face and would not say anything bad about Zhang Wanwan's family in front of him. Now that Zhang Wanwan's family is setting up a street stall, it can be regarded as stirring up a hornet's nest for her. Huang Guilian put her hands on her hips and said to Zhang Jianguo in a bad tone: "Your brother is becoming more and more 'promising'! Now he has started to set up a street stall. I tell you that you are not allowed to say hello to them when you meet them on the road in the future. Don't be embarrassed! If your colleagues in your unit knew that you have a brother who sets up a street stall, how would they look at you? You can afford to lose this person, but I can't!"

After talking about Zhang Jianguo, Huang Guilian looked at Zhang Nini again and sternly taught her a lesson: "I told you before that you should stop messing with Zhang Wanwan in the future. You didn't listen and you deserve to suffer at her hands. If I hear these things again, I will cut off all your pocket money!"

Zhang Jianguo and his daughter were angry but dared not speak out in the face of Huang Guilian's tyranny. As soon as Huang Guilian left, Zhang Nini wiped her tears and looked at Zhang Jianguo, "Dad, if you don't listen to mom this time, she will really turn against you."

Zhang Jianguo's face changed, he was torn between his conscience and his desires. To be honest, he didn't have much feelings for his younger brother Zhang Jianye. People are selfish. When he chose to marry Huang Guilian, he had already offended his father and broke up with his family. Besides, they hadn't been in touch for so many years, and the relationship between the two families had long been estranged. When Zhang Jianye was short of money, he was worried that someone would come to his house. Fortunately, Zhang Jianye was tactful and never asked him. The two of them would greet each other occasionally when they met. Now it seems that he really has to pretend to be strangers when they meet in the future. Otherwise, if people know that his brother is selling things on the street, he, the Director of the Land Bureau, will not be able to raise his head!

Thinking of this, Zhang Jianguo made up his mind and nodded heavily, "Listen to your mother. You are not allowed to go to your cousin in the future. If you make your mother unhappy again, your father will not help you."

Zhang Nini felt unwilling, but she didn't know anyone around Zhang Wanwan, so it was impossible for her to do anything. Besides, she was already a senior in high school and didn't have that much energy. She could only curse Zhang Wanwan hundreds of times in her heart.

But no matter how unhappy Zhang Nini was, Zhang Wanwan was very happy. She had been setting up the stall for almost a month, and her business could only be described as booming. She was receiving more and more raw materials. Her home was originally small, and with all the stuff Zhang Wanwan put out, it felt like there was no place to step. Now Zhang Wanwan no longer made ice herself, but instead called to place orders with the ice delivery company, and she consumed several boxes a day. The boss of the mineral water store saw his income increase several times this month because of Zhang Wanwan, and he was so happy.

On the day when the high school entrance examination results came out, Zhang Wanwan was still working at the stall as usual, not paying any attention at all. When she was busy until noon, Zhang's father brought her lunch and the first thing he asked was, "How did you do in the high school entrance examination this time?"

Zhang Wanwan was stunned for a moment, then calmly replied: "I haven't checked yet! I'll know when I get home tonight and call."

"You! You are crazy about making money! How can you be careless about such an important thing as grades?" Zhang's father was very disappointed with his child, but his hands were very skillful. He had become very proficient in helping Zhang Wanwan sell milk tea.

Zhang Wanwan was worried that her father would be unhappy, so she took his phone to check her grades while eating. As the call was connected, a mechanized female voice came from inside, "Your high school entrance examination scores are 143 in Chinese, 150 in math, and 148 in English. The total score of the three subjects is 441, A in politics, A in history, A in physics, A in chemistry, A in geography, and A in biology. I'll report it again."

Zhang Wanwan was still a little dizzy when the phone call was hung up. Although she was very confident during the exam, the feeling was still different when she heard the score.

Zhang's father was stunned when she hung up the phone. His heart sank. "Did you fail the exam?" He paused and asked, "Can you go to your brother's school?"

Zhang Wanwan turned her head and looked straight at her father's frowning brows, and said dryly, "Dad, the other party said that I scored 441 points. Do you think I should call again to confirm?"

"What? How much did you score?" Zhang's father was so shocked that he didn't even care about selling milk tea. The customers around him naturally heard what Zhang Wanwan said. A man immediately complained, "Damn! You're a top student! The total score is 450, and you scored 441, and only lost 9 points. Is this true?"

The crowd suddenly became agitated, and some office workers were also shocked by Zhang Wanwan's result.

Father Zhang finally came to his senses. He excitedly rushed forward and snatched the phone from Zhang Wanwan's hand. After a moment's pause, he stuffed it back into Zhang Wanwan's hand and said, "Call quickly. I want to listen and confirm!"

"Dad! It costs money to check this!"

"Give it if you want money! Stop talking nonsense and check it out quickly!" Zhang's father urged, wishing he could do it for Zhang Wanwan.

Zhang Wanwan was helpless and didn't know whether to laugh or cry. She dialed the number again, pressed the speaker, and entered the admission ticket number. The announcement sounded again, and the noisy sounds around her disappeared instantly. This time, Zhang's father heard it clearly. The man who had just complained about jumped up again and exclaimed in disbelief: "Oh my God! It's okay to have a total score of 441, and all A's. This is amazing! Master, I want to hug your thighs! I also took the high school entrance examination today. I checked the results before leaving this morning and was very smug. Now compared with you, I feel ashamed to face people!"

Now it was the turn of the people around to be surprised, "Young man, you just took the high school entrance exam too? You can't judge a person by his appearance!"

Zhang Wanwan nodded in agreement, "She doesn't look like someone who has just finished the high school entrance exam. She looks more like someone who has just finished the college entrance exam."

The boy staggered and almost fell down, feeling extremely angry and said, "What's wrong with me looking more mature? Can you please not be so hurtful?"

"Wanwan, how can you talk like that?" Zhang's father was in a very good mood. Although he was scolding Zhang Wanwan, he didn't seem to have any power. He turned his head to look at the boy, smiling almost to his ears. "I'm sorry, young man, uncle will buy you some milk tea!"

When the others heard this, they immediately started to make a noise, "Boss, what about us? Everyone who sees it has a share, we can't be partial to one and not to another!"

Father Zhang was stunned immediately. He was so happy that he spoke without thinking. He even forgot that the stall belonged to his daughter and said such words. He looked back at Zhang Wanwan guiltily.

Zhang Wanwan stepped forward and said, "How about you all give me a 50% discount?"

Those people were immediately happy. It was unrealistic to ask the boss to give gifts to so many people. They also wanted to do business and make money. A 50% discount had already made them overjoyed.

After seeing off this wave of guests, Zhang's father finally breathed a sigh of relief and looked at Zhang Wanwan apologetically, "Girl, did dad make you lose money?"
