Su Jinyue withdrew her gaze. This snow disaster was really serious. There were people everywhere who had fallen and suffered frostbite. There were frozen corpses under many collapsed houses.
"Students! Let's go to the tent first and wait for the assignment." The teacher in charge led the way.
Everyone hurried to follow. They had experienced life and death before, and the fact that they survived was perhaps because God had sent them here to train, to make their lives more meaningful.
There were four tents in total, each with ten beds. Although it wasn't warm inside, it was much better than the ear-chilling temperatures outside.
After everyone put their luggage away, they began to build a fire in the open space in the center of the tents. Each tent had a small bundle of firewood for warmth. In this kind of weather, if you just sit there without exercising, you'll soon freeze into a popsicle.
Su Jinyue took out a bag of black charcoal-like pebbles from her bag, walked forward and placed one in the rising fire.
"Su Jinyue, what did you put there?" Seeing Su Jinyue's actions, everyone couldn't help but feel curious.
"This is magma stone. It can keep burning and maintain its temperature," Su Jinyue said. It was freezing outside, and even firewood was hard to find. The small bundle of firewood could only burn for four or five hours at most. Even after the firewood burned out, they would still be freezing.
"How did you get the lava rock?" a girl asked curiously. China didn't seem to have many volcanoes.
Su Jinyue seemed not to have heard. She poured the bag of lava rocks into the ground and separated them with the bag. "There are a total of 126 lava rocks here. Send them to the other tents." There are volcanoes in China. The Northeast region alone has 34 volcanic clusters, totaling over 640 volcanoes, and large areas of lava. However, this is not real lava rock, but Phoenix flames spewed out by the Fire Phoenix.
"Okay." After hearing this, everyone stopped asking questions, walked forward, took the bag from Su Jinyue's hand, and walked out of the tent.
Su Jinyue came to a tent with the most wounded, where doctors and nurses were busy.
"Go and take care of the wounded man." A deep voice came.
Su Jinyue turned her head to look at the other person, nodded, walked to the fire, threw a phoenix flame, and walked towards the wounded man.
Jin Zhifeng raised an eyebrow in surprise. This girl was the first one who wasn't captivated by his appearance; he didn't even see a hint of amazement in her eyes. He had been assigned to the rescue mission in Lingcheng, but what annoyed him most was that the nurses and female doctors he worked with would stare at him with amazement, as if he were a woman in disguise.
"What did you just throw into the fire?" Jin Zhifeng asked in a deep voice, thinking of Su Jinyue's actions. She wouldn't throw anything harmful, would she? He heard that a while ago, several Japanese people secretly sneaked into China and wanted to blow up the military hospital. Fortunately, they were discovered early and no danger was caused.
"The lava stone generates heat continuously, but it's harmless." Su Jinyue walked over to the injured man and saw a splint on his leg, knowing he had fallen. She observed his leg bones and found several fractures.
Jin Zhifeng walked to the fire and observed the Phoenix Flame for a while. He felt relieved when he didn't smell any special smell.
Just as I was about to go check out other tents, I heard hurried footsteps outside.
Looking up, I saw two villagers carrying a stretcher walking in. Many uninjured people in Lingcheng had already joined the rescue team, which had greatly increased the rescue efforts.
A woman in labor on a stretcher was biting a piece of cloth with a look of pain on her face. Her forehead was covered in cold sweat, and it was obvious that she was about to give birth.
"Carry the woman over there first. Doctor Liu, go check on her," Jin Zhifeng said to a doctor who was treating a wounded person. They were here to rescue the victims and hadn't anticipated a woman giving birth, so no obstetrician was there.
Doctor Liu waited until the two villagers put the woman down before checking her condition. "She should be giving birth soon, but I have no experience delivering babies. What should I do?"
He looked at the two villagers and asked anxiously, "Do you have a doctor or midwife who specializes in delivering babies?" Although he was a surgeon and had performed surgery on patients, he had never helped a woman give birth. He didn't dare to do that, otherwise he wouldn't be able to bear the consequences if someone died.
"There was a midwife, but we couldn't find her. Her house collapsed, and she's probably gone," said one of the villagers.
"What should we do?" Doctor Liu looked at the woman in labor, his face filled with anxiety. He couldn't just watch her die in pain.
"Leave it to me," Su Jinyue said. She had just observed the woman in labor and found that she was in the same condition as Sanni. If surgery wasn't performed promptly, there would be two deaths.
Everyone turned their eyes to Su Jinyue at the same time, and saw that she was just a girl of eighteen or nineteen years old, and shook their heads speechlessly.
"Little girl, this is not a place for jokes." Doctor Liu said angrily. What did the other party think of human life? Was it her toy?
"Do you think you know everything just because you've learned a little bit? This is a matter of life and death." A middle-aged female doctor shouted with a stern face.
"Then can you help her deliver the baby?" Su Jinyue asked in a calm voice.
Everyone looked at each other in bewilderment. They really couldn't help the woman in labor.
"This is not a question of whether or not, these are two living lives." Doctor Liu said with a serious face.
"Okay, stop joking like this and get out." The middle-aged female doctor said coldly.
"Of course I wouldn't joke about such a thing. If this woman doesn't undergo surgery within half an hour, she and the baby in her belly will be beyond saving." Su Jinyue said calmly.
"Little girl, can you take responsibility for your actions?" Jin Zhifeng asked. He certainly didn't want to see the mother die, but if there was a glimmer of hope, he would still like to try.
"Of course!" Su Jinyue nodded confidently.
"Then I'll leave it to you." Jin Zhifeng decided.
"Doctor Jin, how can this be possible?" Doctor Liu and the middle-aged female doctor objected at the same time.
"Can you deliver a baby?" Jin Zhifeng looked at the two of them and asked coldly.
"We can't, but we are doctors and we can never joke with patients' lives," said the middle-aged female doctor.
Su Jinyue took out a notebook and handed it to the middle-aged female doctor, "Is this okay?" She was a doctor, and of course she couldn't watch someone she could save die in front of her.
