Chapter 3 Dream

The sky gradually turned pale, and a ray of golden sunlight broke through the clouds, instantly brightening the dark earth.

"Cock-a-doodle-doo~" The crowing of roosters in the village rang out one after another, breaking the silence of dawn.

The birds in the trees are chirping, and their voices are sweet and pleasant.

In the room, Su Jinyue, who was sleeping, suddenly frowned and her eyelashes trembled, "No...don't...Yi Han..." The next moment, her eyes suddenly opened.

Su Jinyue finally breathed a sigh of relief after taking in the surroundings she was in. She had just had a dream. In it, Zhan Yihan was covered in blood, battling a group of men in black. A three-edged military bayonet pierced his back, sending blood gushing out. He merely frowned slightly and continued to fight.

By the time he'd dispatched all the men in black, he was already at the end of his rope. "Jin Yue, I've avenged you..." Zhan Yihan looked around at the bodies scattered across the floor, a look of relief on his bloodstained face. "Jin Yue, wait until I get back. I'll be with you every day from now on."

At this time, a man in black among the corpses on the ground moved. He slowly raised his head and looked at Zhan Yihan. His cold eyes flashed with a sinister light. He took out a gun with difficulty and pointed it at Zhan Yihan.

"Bang!" The man in black squeezed the trigger hard, and the bullet shot towards Zhan Yihan quickly...

Thinking of the scene in the dream, Su Jinyue still felt a little scared. She raised her hand to wipe the cold sweat from her forehead and said, "Fortunately it was just a dream." After two days of recuperation, the injury on her leg was no longer as painful, but she still couldn't get out of bed.

"Doctor Xu! Doctor Xu! Please help my second child. He has been having a fever all night." An anxious voice came from outside.

"My master has gone out to collect herbs. Mrs. Liu, please bring the child over for me to see." Song Yiren opened the medicine box on the table and took out a palm-sized aluminum box from it.

Mrs. Liu hurriedly walked forward with the child in her arms and sat down on the square stool opposite Song Yiren.

Song Yiren opened the aluminum box, took out a thermometer from it and handed it to Mrs. Liu, "Put the thermometer under his tongue."

Mrs. Liu took the thermometer, coaxed Erwa to open his mouth, and then placed the thermometer in his mouth. "Doctor Song, when will Doctor Xu be back?" Relatively speaking, she still trusted Xu Tiansheng more. Although Song Yiren had studied medicine with Doctor Xu for several years, she was young and inexperienced, and she spent most of her time in school.

"I don't know either. Master never has a specific time when he goes out to collect herbs." Song Yiren said.

Mrs. Liu nodded and asked, "Is Jinyue's injury better?" Shangxin Village is only that big, so she naturally knew about Su Jinyue's injury.

"I'm much better now, but I can't get out of bed yet. Mrs. Liu, I heard that Brother Zhan is coming back today." Song Yiren asked. Mrs. Liu's house was next door to the Zhan family, so she naturally knew the most about the Zhan family.

"He's not coming back. I heard he took a temporary mission," said Mrs. Liu. Last night, Aunt Zhan received a telegram saying that Zhan Yihan had an urgent mission and couldn't come back this time.

Song Yiren nodded disappointedly and looked at Erwa in Mrs. Liu's arms, "It's almost time, take out the thermometer." When she heard the news that Brother Zhan was coming back, she was looking forward to it with joy, but she didn't expect it to be in vain.

Mrs. Liu took out the thermometer from Erwa's mouth and handed it to Song Yiren. Song Yiren took the thermometer, shook it, and looked at the temperature. "38.3 degrees, the fever is quite high. I need an injection."

"Okay," Mrs. Liu replied quickly. She didn't understand much, as long as the child was well, that was all she needed.

Song Yiren took out the medicine and started to prepare it, "Turn the child over, let him lie on your legs, and expose his buttocks." The master usually recommends taking medicine to cure the disease, but she prefers a quicker method.

"I don't want the injection, I don't want the injection..." When Erwa heard that he was going to get an injection, he started crying loudly and refused to cooperate.

"Be good, Erwa, the injection doesn't hurt at all. Mom will buy you some candy after the injection." Mrs. Liu could only coax Erwa helplessly. There was still farm work to do at home, and how could she have the heart to go to the fields when the child's fever wouldn't go away?

Hearing about candy, Erwa quieted down. He looked at the syringe in Song Yiren's hand with tearful eyes, his eyes filled with fear. He didn't want the injection, but he wanted candy. It would be best if he could get White Rabbit candy. Just thinking about the taste of the candy made his mouth water.

Song Yiren took the needle and wiped Erwa's little butt with sterilized cotton.

Just as he was about to drop the needle, Su Jinyue's voice rang out, "Wait a minute!"

Song Yiren and Mrs. Liu looked at the same time and saw Su Jinyue standing on one foot, leaning against the door frame with difficulty.

"What's wrong?" Song Yiren asked. She didn't understand why Su Jinyue wanted to stop her.

"You haven't done a skin test yet, how can you give the child an injection like this? What if the child is allergic to penicillin?" Su Jinyue said coldly. In her previous life, Erwa had suffered an allergic reaction after receiving an injection of penicillin. Although he was saved in time, because of this incident, Mrs. Liu and her family frequently came to the clinic to make trouble, and it was only after Master paid compensation that the situation was resolved. She didn't care whether Song Yiren was okay or not, but this matter was related to Master's reputation, and she had to stop it.

"I forgot." A hint of anger flashed in Song Yiren's eyes. Did Su Jinyue take the wrong medicine? Wasn't she just trying to undermine her by saying that? Some people are allergic to penicillin, but the chances are extremely small. She'd never encountered that before, and it wasn't a coincidence.

Su Jinyue didn't bother to pay attention to Song Yiren. She looked at Mrs. Liu and said, "Mrs. Liu, the child doesn't need an injection. Go back and cut a small piece of ginger and mash it into a paste. Apply it to the high bone on the child's wrist, right here." Pointing to the high bone on her wrist, she continued, "Wrap it with gauze and secure it with tape. The fever will usually go down in about 40 minutes."

"Does this method really work?" Mrs. Liu asked doubtfully. Erwa had a severe fever. What if this method didn't work and something went wrong? Besides, she was in a hurry to go to work in the fields.

"Don't worry." Su Jinyue said confidently.

Mrs. Liu hesitated for a moment, then gritted her teeth and said, "Then I'll trust you this time." She pulled up Erwa's pants, picked him up, and walked out. If that method really worked, it would save her money.

"Su Jinyue, if you have any opinions about me, just say it directly. How will others see me if you sabotage me like this?" After Mrs. Liu walked away, Song Yiren said angrily.

"I'm just doing my job as a doctor," Su Jinyue said calmly, turning around and walking towards the room on one foot. If this matter hadn't implicated her master, Song Yiren wouldn't have spoken up to stop her even if she killed someone.
