Chapter Seventy-Three: The Veteran's Accusation

Xu Kuo was taken aback; he hadn't expected the old man to actually tell Secretary Wen about it.

“Grandpa, you…” A warm feeling welled up in Xu Kuo’s heart, and he didn’t know what to say to express his gratitude.

Just then, the market door creaked open.

Shi Jixing and Tan Wang walked in and immediately spotted the old man standing in the crowd.

"Oh, isn't this the old codger from yesterday?" Shi Jixing sneered. "What, here to meddle again today? Are you tired of living?"

Tan Wang chimed in, "That's right, old man, get back home and stop getting in the way!"

The old man's face turned bright red. He pointed at Shi Jixing, trembling with rage: "You...you..."

"Secretary Wen, you...you've come all this way?" Shi Jixing suppressed his unease, forced a fawning smile, and bowed and scraped as he went to greet him.

Shi Jixing was used to being domineering in the town, but he knew in his heart that his abilities were nothing in front of Secretary Wen, especially since Secretary Wen had gradually gained control of the town committee.

Secretary Wen gave him a cold glance, ignoring his flattery, and walked straight up to the old man, asking with concern, "Senior, are you alright?"

The old man shook his head, pointed at Shi Jixing, and angrily accused him: "Secretary Wen, it's him! He's the one who bullied people!"
