Chapter Thirty: Enhanced Version of the Strengthening and Health-Promoting Pills

Xu Kuo rejected each item without hesitation, growing increasingly disappointed.

After working for most of the day, the system notification sounded only a few times, and I only managed to redeem a little over a hundred points.

This was far from what he had expected; it was simply a drop in the ocean.

"It seems that relying on setting up a stall is not a viable path." Xu Kuo was disheartened and was preparing to pack up and head home.

"Brother Xu Kuo!" A clear voice suddenly rang out, like rain after a long drought, which invigorated Xu Kuo.

He looked up and saw a familiar figure jogging towards him—it was Wenwen, whom he hadn't seen in a long time.

Wenwen was wearing a light blue work uniform and had her hair in a ponytail, making her look youthful and beautiful.

She ran up to Xu Kuo, beaming with joy: "Brother Xu Kuo, it really is you! I recognized your voice as I passed by, and when I came over, it was indeed you."

"Wenwen? What brings you here?" Xu Kuo asked, somewhat surprised.

"My mom said she wanted to give me some experience, so she asked me to come work in town." Wenwen winked playfully.

"Brother Xu Kuo, what are you doing here?"

She looked Xu Kuo up and down, her eyes filled with curiosity and admiration.

"I heard you hunt a lot of game, you're really good at it. Why are you trading meat for things? Don't you have enough food? I haven't eaten meat in ages..."

As Wenwen finished speaking, her tone carried a hint of coquetry.

Xu Kuo had a sudden thought. He remembered that Wenwen's mother, Secretary Wen, had helped him a lot, so he wanted to give her a piece of meat as a token of his gratitude.

"Wenwen, you want some meat? Sure, I happen to have some here, I'll give you a piece." Xu Kuo said, and was about to cut the meat.

Wenwen's eyes darted around, and she took out a small pendant from her pocket, waving it in front of Xu Kuo:

"Brother Xu Kuo, do you think this pendant of mine is pretty? Can I trade it for a piece of meat with you?"

Her intention was simply to tease Xu Kuo, but unexpectedly, a voice suddenly echoed in Xu Kuo's mind:

[Ding! A rare Song Dynasty pendant has been detected, valued at 500 points. Would you like to redeem it?]

Xu Kuo was struck dumb, as if by lightning.

A Song Dynasty pendant?

500 points?

He could hardly believe his ears. How could a seemingly ordinary pendant be worth so many points?

“Wenwen, this pendant of yours…” Xu Kuo’s breathing became rapid. He stared intently at the pendant in Wenwen’s hand, as if it were not a pendant, but a mountain of gold.

"What's wrong, Brother Xu Kuo? Don't you like this pendant?"

Wenwen noticed Xu Kuo's unusual expression and was somewhat puzzled.

No, it's not that I don't like it.

Xu Kuo suddenly came to his senses, gritted his teeth, and made a decision that left Wenwen speechless: "Wenwen, how about I trade this remaining half of the pig for this pendant?"

"What?!" Wenwen exclaimed in surprise, nearly dropping the pendant in her hand.

"Brother Xu Kuo, you...you're not kidding, are you? This half-pig? In exchange for my little thing?"

She pinched herself hard, wincing in pain.

It's not a dream!

"Brother Xu Kuo, are you... running a fever?"

Wenwen reached out, wanting to touch Xu Kuo's forehead.

He bought the pendant because he thought it was pretty when he was browsing a market.

She knew this thing should be worth some money, how could it be worth only half a pig? Xu Kuo must be crazy!

Xu Kuo's thoughts were completely opposite to Wenwen's.

That's a whopping 500 points!

Since the system came into existence, Xu Kuo had never seen such a "huge sum of money".

Half a pig? It's nothing compared to 500 points! This is a huge profit!

Wenwen tried to decline, muttering, "This... I can't possibly accept this..."

How could Xu Kuo allow her to refuse? Without saying a word, he directly hoisted the half-portion of wild boar meat onto his shoulder. The heavy weight pressed down on his shoulders, but he felt light as a feather, and was secretly delighted.

He strode about, urging, "Stop dawdling, come on, I'll take you home!"

Wenwen was stunned by his decisive manner and followed behind him in a daze, her mind a complete mess.

As she watched Xu Kuo's broad back, her heart pounded wildly, like a little rabbit trapped inside.

So much meat, and he just traded it away without even blinking an eye. Xu Kuo is too generous!

I definitely got a great deal, and I'll have to find a chance to repay him properly in the future.

Wenwen was already making her own plans.

She secretly observed Xu Kuo, and the more she looked at him, the more she felt that this man was not simple.

To be able to grow so much grain and hunt such a big wild boar, that's quite an achievement! How could someone like that possibly stay stuck in this small mountain village forever?

In the future, he will definitely venture out into a wider world. Thinking of this, Wenwen felt a strange emotion welling up in her heart, and her cheeks flushed slightly.

After delivering the pork to Wenwen's residence and settling her in, Xu Kuo was eager to return home, wishing he could sprout wings and fly back.

500 points in hand, the hope of a system upgrade is just around the corner!

During this period, he always felt that the development speed was too slow and that he was restricted in many ways. Ultimately, it was because the system level was too low and there were too few things that could be exchanged.

Now, we finally have the opportunity to break through this bottleneck!

As soon as he entered the house, Xu Kuo smelled the aroma of food, but he had no appetite at the moment.

He quickly ate a few bites, then excused himself by saying he was tired and went back to his room early.

Lying in bed, he could hear his wife Jiang Xiuying's even breathing beside him.

Xu Kuo, however, was overwhelmed with emotion and found it difficult to fall asleep. He closed his eyes and let his consciousness sink into the system space.

"Exchange, upgrade!" Xu Kuo murmured to himself, his tone filled with determination and anticipation.
