Chapter Thirty-One: High-Quality Fish Food

Xu Kuo wanted to try other effects, but after glancing at Jiang Xiuying, who was fast asleep beside him, he hesitated.

He was afraid of waking her, so he had no choice but to give up.

Although he was somewhat unwilling, he still sighed softly and thought, "Forget it, I'll talk about it tomorrow. I shouldn't disturb her rest."

He didn't dwell on it too much, after all, he had just experienced the miraculous effects of the pills and was still feeling a bit excited.

He tapped his fingertip and refreshed the product list again.

However, all that could be seen were basic supplies, not even as abundant as before the upgrade.

The contrast is so stark it's infuriating.

"What a rip-off!" Xu Kuo cursed inwardly, his brows furrowed, feeling a surge of irritation.

He refused to believe it and tapped the screen repeatedly, refreshing five times in a row, but the result was the same: all the usual items like pots, pans, and food.

His mood plummeted from anticipation to rock bottom, and he couldn't help but mutter under his breath, "Is this system playing a trick on me?"

Just as he was about to swear, he suddenly woke up and realized that the noise was too loud and might wake up Jiang Xiuying next to him.

He cautiously turned his head and, by the faint moonlight filtering in from the window, saw that Jiang Xiuying's delicate brows were slightly furrowed, as if she had been disturbed.

After a while, Jiang Xiuying turned over and her breathing became even. Xu Kuo breathed a sigh of relief and secretly rejoiced: "Thank goodness, she didn't wake up."

He gently wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and breathed a sigh of relief.

His gaze returned to the system panel, where the pitiful hundred-plus points balance stung his eyes. He felt a surge of resentment, gritted his teeth, and thought, "I refuse to believe it!" That stubborn streak resurfaced, and he clicked refresh again.

This time, the screen has finally changed.

[Premium fish food that promotes rapid fish growth. Redeemable for 100 points.]

"Wow, this system..." Xu Kuo was both amused and exasperated, his heart filled with mixed feelings. "So it's determined to make me live a pastoral life?"

He shook his head helplessly, feeling a bit amused and exasperated.

The fertilizer is given and the fish food is given right away. Is this a one-stop service for farming and fish raising?

However… Xu Kuo stroked his chin, a question nagging at him: “Where will we get fish food for this fishpond? We can’t just scatter the fish into the river, can we? That would just be giving the fish away to others.”

He thought and thought but couldn't come up with a solution. Feeling a bit frustrated, he decided to put it aside for the time being.

Right now, the more important thing is still our own sweet potato field.

Since taking Niu Erbao as his underling, Xu Kuo has been busy with various tasks and hasn't been able to look after the reclaimed wasteland for quite some time.

Judging by the days, it should be time to harvest the sweet potatoes.

Thinking of this, Xu Kuo felt a surge of excitement. As soon as dawn broke, he immediately jumped out of bed, put on an overcoat, and ran outside.

Xu Kuo jogged all the way to his own piece of reclaimed land.

Upon arriving at his destination, the sight before him left him stunned.

A lush green expanse stood out, a stark contrast to the withered weeds elsewhere. The large leaves swayed gently in the breeze, as if beckoning to him.

"This...this growth..."

Xu Kuo was dumbfounded, he could hardly believe his eyes.

He was overjoyed and couldn't help but mutter to himself, "This isn't just a sweet potato field, it's practically a green ocean! Judging by this, the sweet potatoes underneath must be huge!"

Just as Xu Kuo was marveling at the sight, Niu Erbao popped out of the ground, his honest face beaming with joy: "Big brother, you're here! I've been following your instructions to water and fertilize the land, and I never expected these sweet potatoes to grow so well!"

"Erbao, well done!" Xu Kuo patted Niu Erbao on the shoulder, overjoyed.

He felt a surge of relief.

This kid is reliable; it wasn't a waste to take him as my underling.

"Hehe..." Niu Erbao scratched his head, revealing a set of big white teeth, his face full of a simple and honest smile.

"Let's go dig sweet potatoes!" Xu Kuo waved his hand and excitedly pulled Niu Erbao down to the ground.

He was filled with anticipation and couldn't wait to see just how big the sweet potato was.

Niu Erbao was dumbfounded as soon as the first sweet potato was dug out.

The sweet potato was twice the size of what I usually saw, round and heavy, like a chubby newborn baby.

"Is...is this still a sweet potato?" Niu Erbao stammered.

He was shocked and couldn't help but reach out and touch the sweet potato, as if he couldn't believe his eyes.

Seeing Niu Erbao's reaction, Xu Kuo felt a surge of pride and couldn't help but laugh: "How about it, Erbao, I wasn't lying to you, was I? This sweet potato is our treasure!"

He secretly calculated that these sweet potatoes could not only solve the family's food problem, but also be exchanged for some money, giving him hope for the future.

He had never seen such a huge sweet potato in his entire life.

"Haha, this is truly a fine product!" Xu Kuo was overjoyed, feeling incredibly pleased with himself.

"Erbao, stop standing there and start digging! Once you're done, your big brother will give you some!"

"Alright!" Upon hearing this, Niu Erbao immediately perked up and swung his hoe with great enthusiasm.

The two worked diligently, and before long, all the sweet potatoes in the field were dug up.

Looking at the mountain of sweet potatoes piled up in front of him, Xu Kuo was troubled.

When clearing the land, I was only focused on cultivating it and never expected to harvest so much. How am I going to transport all this sweet potato, which is piled up like a mountain, back by myself?

Niu Erbao stood there, his eyes practically bulging out of their sockets, staring intently at the pile of sweet potatoes as if he'd seen a ghost. "This...this...good heavens, are these really sweet potatoes? How come they look so weird!"
