A wild boar, all brown and black with protruding tusks, charged down the mountain and headed straight for Xu Kuo.
It was a famine year, and there was nothing to eat on the mountain. The wild boars were starving and their bodies radiated a ferocious aura.
As the wild boar was about to rush towards Niu Erbao, Niu Erbao turned pale with fright, trembled all over, and felt as if his legs were filled with lead, unable to move.
"Get out of the way!" Xu Kuo roared.
Without a second thought, Xu Kuo rushed forward and stood in front of Niu Erbao.
With its eyes red, the wild boar charged at Xu Kuo recklessly.
Xu Kuo dodged to the side, avoiding the wild boar's charge.
He circled behind the wild boar and kicked it hard in the rear.
The wild boar cried out in pain, turned around, and pounced on Xu Kuo even more frantically.
A man and a pig engaged in a fierce battle on the edge of the field.
Xu Kuo was agile and constantly dodged the wild boar's attacks.
He seized the opportunity, pounced, and mounted the wild boar's back.
He gripped the wild boar's bristles tightly with both hands and, with all his might, flipped the boar to the ground.
The wild boar lay on its back, struggling to get up, but Xu Kuo held it down firmly.
Niu Erbao, standing to the side, was stunned, as if frozen in place, his mind completely blank.
The fiercest animal I've ever seen is the big yellow dog that guards the house at Grandpa Li's house at the entrance of the village.
But the wild boar in front of us, just its tusks alone are bigger than the head of the big yellow dog!
It wasn't until Xu Kuo knocked the wild boar to the ground with his bare hands that Niu Erbao suddenly came to his senses, and the fear in his heart was instantly dispelled by a surge of hot blood.
Without further hesitation, he rushed forward and handed the sickle in his hand to Xu Kuo.

Xu Kuo quickly helped him up: "Get up quickly. This wild boar wasn't just my doing. If you hadn't brought the sickle in time, I wouldn't have been able to subdue it so easily."
He casually cut off a plump hind leg from the wild boar and handed it to Niu Erbao: "Take this leg back with you and use it to nourish your family."
Niu Erbao's eyes widened, and his mouth opened so wide it could fit an egg.
These days, let alone meat, even wild vegetables are almost all dug up.
Being able to eat a full meal is like living in paradise.
Xu Kuo actually gave him such a big wild boar leg?

“Brother Xu, I know I’m not smart, but I’m willing to work hard. As long as you’re willing to teach me, I’m willing to do anything!” Niu Erbao thought Xu Kuo was looking down on him, so he quickly expressed his opinion.
Seeing his persistence, Xu Kuo could not refuse any longer and could only bite the bullet and agree: "Alright, if you want to learn, it's not impossible. However, you have to do me a favor first."
"What kind of help? Just tell me. As long as it's within my power, I'll do anything, even go through fire and water!" Niu Erbao patted his chest and guaranteed.
"My sweet potato fields haven't been fertilized yet. Could you help me fertilize them?" Xu Kuo said, pointing to his fields.
"Alright!" Without saying a word, Niu Erbao picked up his hoe and rushed into Xu Kuo's field.
Xu Kuo looked at Niu Erbao's energetic back and shook his head helplessly.
Now look what's happened! I've taken on an apprentice, but I have to pay for the fertilizer myself.
He carried the remaining wild boar and headed home.
Jiang Xiuying and Ren Hongmei were already waiting at the door. When they saw Xu Kuo carrying such a large wild boar back, Jiang Xiuying showed no surprise, as if she had long been used to it.
"Keep only one leg, sell the rest and exchange them for some food and seeds."
Xu Kuo tossed the wild boar into the yard and casually gave the order.
"Mmm." Jiang Xiuying nodded obediently.
Xu Kuo picked up his usual wood-chopping axe and gleaming machete, shouldered his tools, and strode towards the market.
As soon as he set up his stall, someone recognized him immediately.
"Isn't this the same young man from last time? Here to buy things with money again?"
A lean old man approached, his face beaming with smiles.
"No." Xu Kuo shook his head.
The crowd that had been eager to try suddenly deflated like punctured balloons, and they all hung their heads and prepared to leave.
"This time, I'll trade wild boar meat for it." Xu Kuo's voice wasn't loud, but it was like a bombshell, causing an uproar among the crowd.
