Yun Duo picked up the large roots scattered in the soil, as well as the grass roots that she and Yun Qi had picked up on the embankment, and put them in the basket. The other small, forgotten grass roots were quickly picked up by countless wasps and accurately thrown into the small basket.
The clouds will soon dump all these grass roots onto the rocks to dry in the sun. Grass roots are extremely resilient; if the sun isn't strong enough to kill them all at once when they're left on the embankment, they'll likely revive after the dew falls at night.
Yun Duo was overjoyed to see the wasps tossing tiny pieces of grass roots, which she and her grandmother had overlooked, into the basket.
What a huge hassle that saved us!
Xiao Jiu, however, was not very satisfied.
"Actually, ants could do these things more precisely; they could even pick up things hidden under clods of soil. It's a pity that ants are too slow; Grandpa Cloud will be back soon..."
"It's okay, let's pick up the rest first. You can let the ants take their time with the small bits we missed. Ants are small, so Grandpa won't notice if they take their time. Even if he does notice, he won't think much of it; he'll just assume the ants are looking for food." Yun Duo smiled, occasionally shading her forehead with her muddy little hands to check if any large pieces of grass roots had been missed.
"Master, it's getting sunnier and sunnier, do you want to...?"
"Cloud, quickly cover your head and lie down, don't move!"
Seeing that Yunduo had set up a sunshade, Xiao Jiu was just about to suggest finding some branches to weave a hat for sun protection when a frightened and tense voice suddenly rang in Yunduo's ears. Startled, Yunduo instinctively covered her head and lay down on the ground. Only after lying down did she realize something was wrong, and then Xiao Jiu's voice rang directly in her mind.
"Holy crap! Master, something's wrong! It's that kid from before!"
"Oh my, who's that handsome kid named Li Cheng!" Yun Duo was just about to wave to Li Bingchen when she heard Li Bingchen's furious voice again: "I told you not to move, you better cover your head and lie down!"
"Oh..." Although Yun Duo was a little confused, she still stuck out her tongue subconsciously and obediently covered her head and lay down.
Wasps! Killer bees!
Why are there so many wasps surrounding the cloud? Did she just disturb a wasp nest?
They're absolutely courting death!
Li Bingchen felt like he was going crazy. He wished his legs could turn into lightning speed immediately so he could run to Yun Duo's side and protect her.
He thought about how he had worked hard for a month, following his father's instructions, to finally get a day off to see Yun Duo. After arriving in Lujia Village and finding out where Yun Duo's home was, he waited outside the courtyard for a long time but no one came. Just as he was about to ask someone else, he saw the Yun family's patriarch and patriarch return. Only then did he find out where Yun Duo was.
He couldn't wait for Grandpa Yun to come along, so he ran over on his own. Before he even got there, he saw a swarm of wasps surrounding Yun Duo, which nearly scared him out of his wits. He immediately abandoned all pretense of decorum and yelled at Yun Duo to warn her, but she just waved back at him? Had she lost her mind from the sun?
Despite his anger, Li Bingchen gritted his teeth and ran towards Yun Duo with all his might, taking off his shirt as he ran and waving it around before rushing into the 'swarm of wasps' to reach Yun Duo.
