Chapter 275 Joy

Yun Dazheng and Yun Duo both laughed and agreed. After agreeing, the two of them followed Yun Qishi's instructions: one went to the vegetable garden to pick vegetables, and the other went to Yun Youtian's house to find his great-grandson.

Yun Wansheng was eating steamed eggs in his room. Wang Shufen had specially steamed them for him because he had said he felt weak and listless lately. Feeling sorry for him, Wang Shufen steamed an egg for him to help him recover.

Yun Xiangwen leaned against the door of Yun Wansheng's room, looking at Yun Wansheng with longing eyes, clearly wanting to eat something.

However, Yun Wansheng didn't even glance at Yun Xiangwen, only caring about his own mouth. Yun Xiangwen stared longingly for a long time, but seeing that her second uncle didn't give her anything, she couldn't help but pout, looking like she was about to cry.

"How old are you? Still eating alone like this..." Wang Xuemei was very unhappy and couldn't help but mutter. She then pulled Yun Xiangwen aside and coaxed, "Little Wen, are you hungry? Let's go play in the main room for a while, and the food will be ready soon. Mom will add some salt to it, and it will taste good too."

"Mom, Xiaowen wants to eat steamed eggs too," Yun Xiangwen said softly, pouting as she looked at Wang Xuemei with a pleading expression.

Seeing Yun Xiangwen's gaze, Wang Xuemei felt a pang of heartache and couldn't help but pull Yun Xiangwen into the kitchen to question Wang Shufen: "Mom, you steamed eggs for Wansheng, and Xiangwen's father and I didn't say anything, we're used to it anyway. But how old is Xiangwen? Why won't you let Xiangwen have a single bite? You're being too biased."

Even when questioned by her daughter-in-law Wang Xuemei, Wang Shufen remained gentle and kind, looking at Wang Xuemei and saying earnestly, "Xuemei, it's not that Mom doesn't want Xiangwen to eat, but you know our family's situation. Those eggs are meant to be saved to exchange for money; how can we dare to eat more?"

“I was born late and prematurely, and he has been in poor health since he was a child, as you know. He has been working hard these past few days and he is exhausted. He has no strength left. As his mother, it breaks my heart to see him like this. I wanted to nourish him, so I reluctantly steamed such a small egg for him. It was just a small amount, gone in two bites. How could it be enough for the two of them, uncle and nephew?”

"Xiang Wen is still young, but he was born at full term. It's okay if he eats one less steamed egg. When the chickens lay more eggs, Mom promises to steam one for Xiang Wen too."

As she spoke, she looked at Yun Xiangwen and said, "Xiangwen, you have to be good. Didn't Grandma tell you? Your second uncle isn't well, so we should be considerate of him. You're a good child, so listen to me. We won't fight with your second uncle for eggs."

Wang Xuemei immediately flew into a rage upon hearing this and retorted, "Mom! What do you mean by 'stealing eggs'? It's one thing for you to favor your second son and give him all the eggs, but how does it become 'stealing' from him just because Xiangwen wants a taste? You're his grandmother, his own grandmother! How can you talk to your own grandson like that?"

Hearing Wang Xuemei say this, Wang Shufang was also unhappy. She immediately put on a stern face and said in a deep voice, "Xuemei, I'm explaining to you in a nice way because I, as your mother, understand you. I know you only feel sorry for Xiang Wen, not because you're afraid of me."

"Xiang Wen is my own grandson. I've never let him go hungry or cold since he was little. I've done nothing to wrong him. It's just an egg. I've already told him that I'll give it to him when I have extra, but you just won't listen and insist on making a fuss. Do you think you can get away with this because I'm easy to talk to?"
