Chapter 81 Getting Away with It

"Grandpa, hurry up! It's just ahead. This is the last spot. Let's go check if there are any mushrooms. After that, we can go to the market." Yun Duo nimbly weaved through the woods, glancing back at Yun Dazheng to see if he could keep up.

“There were mushrooms in those places before, so there will definitely be mushrooms in the next place too,” Yun Dazheng said while carefully dodging the branches and twigs along the way.

It's strange, really. In this dry season, just a little water from Duo'er every day actually made fungi grow. If he hadn't seen it with his own eyes, he wouldn't have believed it. Come to think of it, he did something similar when he was little, so why didn't it work for him, but it worked for Duo'er?

It just doesn't make sense to say it's luck.

Did his little granddaughter accidentally learn some special watering technique?

Looking at the last few half-open termite mushrooms growing in one spot, Yun Dazheng finally couldn't help but ask, "Duo'er, how did you water them? Is there some special method?"

However, watering actually has a very small effect. The key is that Xiao Jiu directs the termite 'farmers' to work hard and improves the termite tunnels under the soil, allowing water to seep in more effectively, which is why the termite mushrooms grow so well.

However, this matter cannot be discussed.

So, Yun Duo just looked at Yun Dazheng blankly and said in a daze, "Just water it like that, sprinkle it down little by little." As she spoke, she gestured to Yun Dazheng.

Looking at his granddaughter's bewildered expression, Yun Dazheng realized he had been overthinking things.

Maybe it's just that my granddaughter is lucky?

Heaven takes care of the poor child.

Yun Dazheng stopped daydreaming and squatted down to carefully pick a few termite mushrooms that had grown on the ground.

Seeing that she had managed to 'slip through', Yun Duo felt a sense of relief.

Fortunately, my grandfather didn't pry.

Thinking about it, Yunduo asked Xiaojiu in her mind, "Xiaojiu, Xiaojiu, are you done yet? I think there's a little problem with what we discussed before. It's strange that we found a honeycomb full of honey out of nowhere, but there are no bees."

"I'll be done soon, Master. What do you suggest we do?" Xiao Jiu's voice quickly reached Yun Duo's ears.

"Hmm..." Yun Duo thought for a moment and said to Xiao Jiu in her mind, "How about we let the bees in the hive hover around for a bit? Make it look like the hive suddenly fell to the ground for some reason and scared all the bees away?"

"Yes, Master. I think this is better too," Xiao Jiu replied directly in Yun Duo's mind.

Just as Yun Duo and Xiao Jiu finished their discussion, Yun Dazheng finished picking the termite mushrooms. He carefully placed the mushrooms in a basket lined with large mulberry leaves, stood up, and looked at Yun Duo, saying, "Alright, Duo'er, everything's done. Let's go. It's getting late. If we go too late, there won't be many people at the market, and we won't be able to sell our produce."

"Okay, Grandpa," Yun Duo replied, but in her heart she was wondering why Xiao Jiu wasn't better yet. Should she find an excuse to stop for a while?

Just then, I heard two thuds, the sound of heavy objects falling to the ground.

Yun Duo felt relieved and immediately feigned surprise, pointing in the direction the sound came from and asking Yun Dazheng, "Oh! Grandpa, did you hear that sound? It sounds like something fell to the ground."

Before Yun Dazheng could react, Yun Duo took the lead and walked towards the direction from which the sound came.
