Chapter 517 Wang Rui: The Queen Mother is truly the best of the best!

Upon hearing this, the Queen Mother immediately said, "Look back at our house. It's such a tiny place, where would we find any extra space for you to live in?"

Wang Rui seemed to have found a way to control her mother, and she retorted relentlessly, "I saw it all too well long ago! My original bed was taken away a long time ago, and there's simply no place for me in this house. That's why I had to hurry up and find someone to marry me off as soon as possible, so I wouldn't be bothering you every day!"

After listening to her daughter's words, Wang's mother remained silent for a moment, and then slowly said, "My dear daughter, since his hometown is so far away from here, it would be more appropriate for you two to hand over all your salaries to me."

As soon as she finished speaking, Wang Rui's eyes widened, and she exclaimed incredulously, "What? I've worked so hard for so many years, and it's one thing to hand over my salary to you, after all, you're my own mother! But now I have to hand over my salary to you too? Does that mean we won't need to eat, drink, or poop anymore?"

Wang's mother glanced at her sideways and said in an annoyed tone, "If you two get married, do you think your company won't allocate an apartment for you? Besides, your company builds houses, and they're so beautiful and sturdy! You can apply to your company for a big apartment, so our whole family can live more comfortably, and your father and I can easily go over and take care of you two."

Upon hearing her mother's words, Wang Rui's eyes widened in disbelief, feeling her understanding of her mother had been completely overturned once again. She stared at her mother incredulously and murmured, "You actually think that way?"

Wang's mother reached out and pulled Wang Rui to sit down, continuing to earnestly advise her, "My dear daughter, after you get married, you must keep a tight grip on your husband's salary. Only in this way will he be unable to cause trouble and dare not misbehave outside. I'm helping you manage the money, all for your own good! You young people always spend money recklessly and don't know how to save at all. If no one keeps an eye on you, how will you manage to live?"

Faced with her mother's incessant lecturing, Wang Rui chose to remain silent. However, this silence felt incredibly heavy, suffocating her. At that moment, Wang Rui didn't even want to say another word to her mother; she felt utterly exhausted. Recalling the moments of her childhood, Wang Rui couldn't help but feel secretly grateful that she hadn't gone astray despite growing up with such an eccentric mother; she could only suppose her willpower was strong enough.

The mother muttered incessantly, her words flowing like a burst dam. However, after a while, she realized that Wang Rui seemed completely oblivious, her eyes darting around, her thoughts wandering elsewhere. Seeing this, a surge of anger rose within the mother, and she raised her hand to slap Wang Rui hard on the back of the head.

Just as Wang's mother was about to continue scolding Wang Rui, there was a creaking sound and the door was suddenly pushed open. Wang's father's tall figure appeared in the doorway, with Wang Guo beside him, who had a bright smile on her face.

The moment Wang Guo saw Wang Rui, his eyes lit up like stars twinkling in the night sky. He ran happily towards her, his face beaming with joy, and shouted, "Second Sister, you're finally back! I've missed you so much!"

Hearing her younger brother's call, Wang Rui snapped out of her reverie, a gentle smile playing on her lips. She pulled her hand away from her mother's tightly clenched grasp, then gently patted Wang Guo's head, asking softly, "Little brother, you're back too. Why are you so late coming home today?"

Wang Guo replied with a grin, "Second sister, we have exams coming up soon, and the teacher gave us extra review material, so we got out of school a little later than usual. I didn't expect you to be home tonight, second sister. If I had known, I would have told the teacher to come home earlier and keep you company!" He then winked mischievously at Wang Rui.

Wang's father noticed that Wang Rui was also at home, and his previously stern face instantly became kind and approachable. He strode over to Wang Rui and said warmly, "Second daughter's back! That's wonderful! Tonight, have your mother cook something delicious."

Upon hearing this, Wang's mother was taken aback. She had been so engrossed in chatting with Wang Rui that she had completely forgotten about the important matter of cooking. She scratched her head awkwardly, a slightly forced smile appearing on her face, and explained sheepishly, "Oh dear, I was just so happy to see my daughter back that I kept chatting with her and completely forgot about cooking."

The father's face, which had been smiling, instantly darkened. He wanted to lash out, but since his child had finally come home, he couldn't let his anger out in front of the child. So he suppressed his dissatisfaction and tried to speak in a calm tone: "Give me ten yuan when you come inside. I'll go out and buy some cooked food. You can stay home and cook a couple of dishes."

Upon hearing this, Wang's mother stood up from her chair without saying a word, then reached out her hand to Wang Rui without hesitation, saying sternly, "Hurry up and give your father ten yuan!"

Mr. Wang was stunned by what he saw. He frowned, looked at Mrs. Wang with a hint of reproach, and raised his voice, saying, "I told you to give me money, why are you asking the child for money?"

However, Wang's mother looked completely unconcerned and replied with a shrug, "Isn't her money also our family's money? It's the same whether she spends it sooner or later."

Mr. Wang was clearly annoyed. He glared at Mrs. Wang and then turned to Wang Rui, urging her, "Stop dawdling and hurry up and get the money from inside."

Seeing that Wang Rui made no move to take out any money, and noticing that Wang's father's face was growing increasingly grim, Wang's mother, though displeased, muttered something under her breath and turned to go into the bedroom. After a while, she slowly came out, clutching a pitiful ten yuan in her hand, and reluctantly handed it to Wang's father.

Wang's father took the money and walked towards the door without looking back. When he reached the door, he suddenly stopped, turned around and looked at Wang Rui, a hint of concern in his eyes, and said softly, "Second daughter, why don't you stay at home tonight?"

Wang Rui smiled slightly after hearing this, thinking to herself, "Where in this house is there a bed that I can sleep in? How can I possibly find a place to stay?" With that thought, she shook her head helplessly.

Hearing this, Wang's mother was about to respond when she saw Wang's father silently close the door and leave. She shook her head helplessly, then slowly turned her head, her gaze falling on Wang Rui, who was standing beside Wang Guo. She sighed softly and said, "My dear daughter, don't take your father's words to heart. Our house is so small; we really can't spare any extra rooms for you."
