Chapter 72 A Heart Full of Filial Piety

Listening to Wang Xiumin's description, Xu Guangtian thought, "This house is too good!"

The thought that no one in the brigade had settled in the city made him feel inflated again.

"I told you Xiangyang is going to be successful! Also, stop calling me 'Dog Egg' all the time, it sounds awful," he reminded his wife.

After all, my son is a grown man, and he needs to save face when he's out in public.

Wang Xiumin also realized that she had indeed said before that she was no longer allowed to call him Gou Dan.

"Okay, okay, I'll remember, alright?" She rolled her eyes, then handed the clothes to Xu Xiangyang and asked Xu Guangtian to help her change.

Xu Xiangyang refused, pulled the curtain closed himself, and changed his clothes.

Even though they are parents, there should be a bottom line, right?

Wang Xiumin sighed and muttered, "This child, the older he gets, the more he knows how to be shabby."

Hearing her words, Xu Guangtian frowned. "Will the child not know how to be shabby when he grows up? Don't say anything more."

Who acts like a child when they're a grown man? He feels sorry for the child, but the child isn't happy about it, so he can't just ignore it, can he?

Xu Xiangyang pretended not to hear them, changed his clothes, and lay back down on the bed.

He should be able to be discharged from the hospital in the next couple of days. Apart from his arm injury, his concussion has improved a lot.

The plaster cast needs to be immobilized for a while before it can be removed, and it cannot be touched yet.

"Mom, did you bring my bag?" Xu Xiangyang had just asked her to get some clothes, and there was also a small bag in her closet.

He had prepared that in advance, just in case someone came to visit and it would be inconvenient.

I didn't expect to need it today. He can't just conjure things out of thin air, can he?

“I brought it, here you go.” Wang Xiumin took out a dark blue bag from the bag in her clothes.

Xu Xiangyang took it and took out more than a dozen tickets and twenty yuan.

"Take this, you can use it for meals from now on." He handed the item to Wang Xiumin.

"What's this for? Your company gave me enough money and enough to eat." Wang Xiumin didn't take it.

The child earned money to buy a house, and I don't even know where the money came from. How can I ask for money again?

Xu Xiangyang knew that his company had provided some food subsidies, but it was only enough for them to eat porridge; they couldn't afford anything else.

It's not like we don't have the means, so why live such a hard life all the time?

"I don't want to eat porridge anymore," was all he could say.

Sure enough, Wang Xiumin immediately took it. A sick child should eat well; she's always thinking about saving money—that won't do!

Xu Guangtian pursed his lips. He also wanted to eat something delicious, but he couldn't now. His child was in this state, and he had to think about going back to work more.

At noon, Wang Xiumin went to the cafeteria and got pork rib and radish soup, as well as shredded pork noodles, and let Xu Xiangyang eat as much as he wanted.

The couple each had a bowl of fried egg noodles, which was basically savory soup noodles topped with a fried egg.

While eating, Xu Xiangyang frowned slightly. "You guys eat too. What if I can't finish it all?"

These two are something else; they have money and tickets.

Wang Xiumin, however, ate with relish, saying, "You go ahead and eat yours, this is pretty good, it's just plain noodles with an egg."

In their eyes, this was indeed the most delicious thing.

Helpless, Xu Xiangyang picked up a few pieces of ribs for each of them and threatened, "I don't like eating leftovers. You two hurry up and eat them. If you don't eat them, then I won't eat them either."

Xu Guangtian and the other man exchanged a glance and could only lower their heads to eat their ribs.

What a filial child!

The ribs smell so good...

For the next few days, Xu Xiangyang let the two of them take turns going home to sleep.

He wanted them all to go back, but Wang Xiumin disagreed, so he had to change them every day.

After being hospitalized for half a month, Xu Xiangyang finally returned home. By then, spring had arrived and flowers were in bloom; it was mid-May.

"Xiangyang, this city is really nice. You should settle down here and never go back to the brigade." Wang Xiumin has been here for half a month and likes the city more and more.

It's convenient for doing anything, but unfortunately you have to spend money and get tickets for everything.

Xu Xiangyang had no intention of returning to the countryside; if he wanted to work hard here, he would have to stay here indefinitely.

When the three of them returned home, Xu Xiangyang rummaged through the cupboard and pulled out a bunch of things.

Among them was a plaid shirt that I bought for Wang Xiumin last time.

"Here, this is what I bought for you. Try it on." He handed over the clothes and then looked for something else.

Wang Xiumin wanted to tell him he was wasting money, but since he had already bought it, he went to another room to change into it.

There was a mirror in the living room with mandarin ducks playing in the water. She stood there looking at herself for a while, and her eyes started to sting.

She had never worn new clothes since she got married, but thanks to her son, she got to wear new clothes today.

"Wife, you look so beautiful!" Xu Guangtian praised from the side, speaking from the bottom of his heart.

You have to understand that back then, he was attracted to Wang Xiumin because of her beauty, which was famous throughout the surrounding villages. In order to marry her, he even fought with his own mother and took a hundred catties of millet. Although it wasn't a year of famine, it wasn't a good year either.

Wang Xiumin rolled her eyes. "The child is still here, what nonsense are you talking about?"

But she was still secretly pleased. What woman doesn't like to be complimented on her looks?

She looks even more beautiful when it's her man who's praising her.

Xu Xiangyang smiled and said, "It's alright, my mother is naturally beautiful, and my father is telling the truth."

He wasn't trying to flatter her; although Wang Xiumin was over thirty, she still looked beautiful.

She must have looked better when she was younger; time waits for no one…

Wang Xiumin blushed from the praise from the father and son, rolled her eyes, and said, "I'm not going to talk to you anymore. By the way, I don't see any rice or flour at home. How are we going to cook?"

She didn't just stay here for the past two days; she wandered around inside and out. The house is nice, but it doesn't feel like a place to live.

This kid doesn't know how to cook, so what does he usually eat?

Xu Xiangyang hadn't really thought about preparing these things before, so he had to buy them now, but it cost money.

"I'll go check the storeroom." He had cleaned the storeroom before, but nothing was stored there.

Wang Xiumin wanted to go with them, but since the clothes were new, she went back to change.

Xu Xiangyang went to the storeroom alone, then took out twenty catties of rice and flour, a one-catty bottle of oil, and also prepared some soy sauce and salt.

By the time Wang Xiumin arrived, he had already finished preparing.

"Why are you keeping this in the storeroom? Aren't you afraid the rats will eat it?" she said, taking the heaviest item and then having Xu Xiangyang carry the seasonings.

Because of his injured arm, Xu Xiangyang didn't insist and closed the door to follow him out.

But we have no firewood or coal at home, and even if we have grain, we can't cook.

"We'll eat out today, and I'll have someone bring some charcoal over tomorrow." Xu Xiangyang had no other choice; otherwise, the three of them would go hungry.
