"Bang!"
Ye Genbao stumbled and nearly fell over as he lost his footing. Behind him, the bushes rustled loudly, and the crazed sow had already darted about twenty meters away, white steam billowing from its nostrils and its bristles standing on end!
"Quick! Don't stop!" Du Jianshan glanced back, his face pale. "It's catching up!"
Ye Genbao gritted his teeth, dragging his twisted ankle as he ran desperately, sweat blurring his vision, panting as he shouted, "Brother Du, is this pig crazy? Why isn't it turning around?!"
"You interrupted its feeding, how could it not go crazy?" Du Jianshan quickly drew his machete from his waist and hung it diagonally in his hand. "Bear with it for a while, then go around to the other side. There's a trench of barbed wire that we buried ahead!"
"My legs are giving out!" Ye Genbao gritted his teeth, his ankle already swollen. "I can't run anymore!"
"Then lie still and don't make a sound!" Du Jianshan shoved him behind a thick tree by the roadside, then darted to the left. "I'll lure it—remember, only move when I call you!"
"Brother Du!" Ye Genbao tried to pull him back, but his hand grasped nothing and he could only watch helplessly as Du leaped into the forest.
"Ouch——!"
Sure enough, the sow changed direction and pounced on Du Jianshan's back, as if carrying an innate hatred, rushing through the thorns, mud flying everywhere.
"You fat bastard—come on!" Du Jianshan panted, flipped over a pile of stones, and threw a palm-sized pebble at him.
"Thump!"
The stone hit the sow's shoulder. She groaned in pain, but became even more frenzied, pawing wildly with her hooves, determined to tear the person in front of her to pieces.
"Done!" Du Jianshan caught a glimpse of the hollowed-out thorn trench to his right and didn't dare slow down for a second. He gripped his machete tightly, leaped onto a fallen dead tree, turned around, and slashed the rope hanging from it!
"Whoosh—"
Several barbed branches fell with a "thud," blocking the path of the sows charging from behind.
"Awoo!"
The sow paused, her front hooves already stepping into the barbed groove, and with a "thud," she tumbled headfirst into the pit.
"Oh my god!" Ye Genbao couldn't help but peek out from behind the tree and see the sow lying on her back, howling and struggling. Several bloody cuts were pierced on her back by barbs, and blood and mud were mixed together.
"Brother Du, you're amazing!" He limped over, panting like a bellows, "This prick is so bad even its own mother wouldn't recognize it!"
"Don't be too happy yet." Du Jianshan didn't laugh, staring at the sow without moving. "Listen—this sound is wrong."
"Huh?" Ye Genbao tilted his head. "Isn't it the one making noise?"
"No." Du Jianshan's face darkened. "Listen carefully—there is a response!"
Sure enough, a low, muffled growl suddenly came from deep within the forest.
“There’s one more,” Du Jianshan said in a low voice. “It’s not female, it’s male.”
"No way? A pair?" Ye Genbao's face turned green instantly.
"It might be a group." Du Jianshan turned his head. "Quick, throw that bag of fried rice you're carrying across the woods!"
"Huh? I... I was counting on that little bit of rice for dinner!"
"If you want dinner, then listen to me!"
Ye Genbao had no choice but to pick up the cloth bag, swing it around twice, and then throw it into the distant dense forest with a "whoosh." With a "thud," the fried rice was scattered all over the ground.
"Let's go!" Before he could catch his breath, Du Jianshan grabbed his arm and ran. "Let's get away now! The sow is injured, so the boar will definitely come back—but it has a keen nose, and if it smells the fried rice, it might go to check first."
