It was An'an's first time taking a bath in the public bathhouse. As a little girl, she didn't know what shyness was. She was openly scrubbing off the dirt on her body, and she was amazed at how much dirt she could scrub off. She even wanted to roll it into a round little black ball to show Yu Jiu, which made Yu Jiu laugh.
"Stop playing around, use more soap and wash yourself thoroughly. After you're done, we'll go eat. I'll take you to eat something delicious."
While giving her instructions, Yu Jiu lathered her body with soap, creating lots of foam.
"You can't blow bubbles with this."
Little An'an tried to blow bubbles with the soap, but after failing twice, she stopped fooling around and obediently scrubbed the dirt off herself. She then let Yu Jiu rinse off all the bubbles. Yu Jiu told her to rinse a little longer, as she was almost done washing herself, and then the mother and daughter could go out together.
After a half-hour bath, both mother and son smelled wonderful and came out with a pleasant fragrance. Xu Zijiang couldn't bathe while holding little Yuanyuan, so he waited outside until Yu Jiu and An'an finished. He handed Yuanyuan to Yu Jiu before going into the men's bathhouse for a quick shower, which only took about ten minutes.
After taking a shower, of course we went to the state-run restaurant and had a delicious meal. We even ordered several dishes that they didn't have in their area, which surprised An'an, the little country bumpkin.
Since it was still early after dinner, Xu Zijiang went to the real estate agent's house. They had left their phone number and address, and the agent roughly knew when Xu Zijiang and Yu Jiu would arrive, saying he would be waiting for them at home. So when Xu Zijiang and Yu Jiu arrived, they found the agent immediately.
"We've arrived. Let me show you the houses around here first, as many as you can."
The real estate agent was very reliable. He immediately took Yu Jiu and Xu Zijiang to see a house. The first house they saw was very close to their home, just two alleys away. It was a relatively large bungalow.
“It’s quite lively here, the neighbors are nice, it’s convenient to get along with them, and the house is clean and tidy with a large yard and two rooms, which should be enough for you.”
He enthusiastically explained that there were supply and marketing cooperatives, state-run restaurants, and department stores nearby, and as long as you had money and coupons, you wouldn't have trouble buying anything.
"This place is alright, the environment is quite nice. How about this, let's make a backup. It's still early, let's go see some other houses, preferably bigger ones, with three rooms, because we might need an adult to stay here later."
After carefully inspecting the house, Yu Jiu was quite satisfied with all the details. Her only complaint was that there were only two rooms, which might be inconvenient if she hired a nanny. Although she could let both children stay with the nanny for the time being, An'an was getting older, and she wanted An'an to have her own room.
"Okay, no problem. I've also checked three rooms."
The real estate agent was very efficient and immediately led Yu Jiu and Xu Zi to the opposite street. After walking for about ten minutes, they arrived at another house. This house was a small courtyard house with a good orientation and layout, but it was a bit old and would probably need some time to be renovated before they could move in. Yu Jiu immediately crossed it off; it wasn't suitable, they wanted a place they could move in right away.
The real estate agent then led them to another area, this time requiring a bus ride. This area was a bit quieter than the previous two, and transportation wasn't as convenient. Shopping was a bit further away, but the houses were quite far apart, no longer tucked away in alleyways. It was a three-bedroom apartment in a very nice environment; they could move in immediately after a quick tidying up, which was very convenient.
But this place is too deserted. Having just experienced her child being stolen on the train, Yu Jiu no longer likes this quiet environment. Living here, if her child went out and was abducted, no one would see. Yu Jiu thought about it and decided she didn't really want the house. She whispered to Xu Zijiang, discussing it further.
Which house do you like?
It was already getting dark, so we could only look at houses tomorrow. The real estate agent said he had three more options, and he had found a total of six houses for them.
"None of them are particularly good, but if we really have to choose, the sixth house is not bad. All things considered, it is the most suitable for us."
Xu Zijiang and Yu Jiu were on the same page again. Of the three houses they looked at today, they preferred the first one. Although it had fewer rooms, it was still acceptable. However, they didn't want to make such a hasty decision. They planned to go and look at the other three houses again tomorrow. If they couldn't find a suitable one, they would choose the first one.
The real estate agent expressed his understanding, after all, they needed to settle down long-term, and finding a suitable house was crucial. He said he would take them to see three more houses the next morning. When they returned to the guesthouse, Yu Jiu also asked An An for her opinion.
"An'an, which of the three houses we looked at today is your favorite?"
"The first one!"
Little An'an already has her own opinions at such a young age. As soon as Yu Jiu asked her a question, she immediately answered. Yu Jiu raised her eyebrows in interest.
"Oh? Why?"
Yu Jiu was curious about An An's reasons for choosing the first house, and since the three of them had the same idea, Yu Jiu had a feeling that even if they looked at other houses tomorrow, they would still choose the first house they saw today.
"The first house is beautiful, and the yard is so big. I can play with my little brother in the yard, play with Grey Grey, and raise chickens that lay eggs."
"And there are lots of kids here, so I can play with them in the future."
An'an counted them on her fingers, and it seemed that she really liked this place. When they came to look at the house, they met a lot of children who were about the same age as An'an. If she lived here, she would definitely have a lot of playmates.
"Okay, Mom understands. But if you live in the first house, and we find someone to take care of you, then you and your brother will have to live with the aunt who takes care of you. An'an won't have her own room then. Can An'an accept that?"
Yu Jiu had just trained An'an to sleep in a room by herself, and now she was being forced to sit with other people, which she was afraid An'an wouldn't be used to.
"Sure, I can sleep with my brother, and Grey will sleep at my feet!"
An'an excitedly explained that since Grey was a mixed-breed dog and not very clean, Yu Jiu wouldn't allow An'an to hold Grey in bed while sleeping, even though she liked him. An'an was also considerate of her mother's feelings; she usually only played with Grey, but the two of them didn't sleep together.
"By the way, Mom, we're all here now, when is Grey Grey coming?"
