Chapter 104 Returning to Beijing (2/2)

Li Jin's eyes reddened slightly, and tears welled up in them. He was clearly deeply moved by Yang Taohua's words, and said in a slightly choked voice, "Auntie, Uncle, I am already very content with just these words from you. In fact, I have always regarded you as my family, and that has never changed."

Lin Jianmin nodded emphatically, indicating his approval of Li Jin. He solemnly said, "Xiao Jin, don't worry, from now on this will be your home. If anyone dares to bully you again, I, Lin Jianmin, will absolutely not stand idly by!"

After dinner, Li Jin followed her uncle to her grandparents' graves. Looking at the tombstone, she respectfully offered flowers and whispered, "Grandpa and Grandma, I've come back to see you. After all these years, I finally know my true identity." Lin Jianmin stood beside her, his eyes also moist. "Mom and Dad," he said, "if you're watching over me from heaven, please bless me with a smooth and successful life." Li Jin took a deep breath and continued, "Grandpa and Grandma, you will always be my grandpa and grandma!"

After a brief stop on the back hill, the two began their journey home. Along the way, they saw many people carrying hoes and sickles, hurrying along as if preparing to work in the fields. Some of these people were familiar neighbors who greeted them warmly; while those they didn't know well would simply smile and nod in acknowledgment.

As they passed by Lin Jianmin's fields, Lin Jianmin proudly pointed to the crops and explained their growth to them. He recounted the characteristics and expected yield of each crop as if they were his own treasures, his words revealing his love for this land and his anticipation for a bountiful harvest.

As night fell, Lin Tao returned home from school. Several years had passed, and the once mischievous boy had grown into a tall, slender young man. When he saw Li Jin, he was initially taken aback, clearly surprised, but his eyes quickly lit up, and a joyful smile spread across his face as he excitedly exclaimed, "Sister Jin, it really is you!"

Looking at the slightly shy boy in front of her, Li Jin couldn't help but smile. She stepped forward, gently patted Lin Tao's head, and said softly, "Lin Tao, you've grown so tall." Lin Tao was a little embarrassed by Li Jin's gesture. He scratched his head and gave a shy smile.

After dinner, the family sat together chatting. Yang Taohua suddenly asked, "Xiao Jin, how long do you plan to stay this time?" Li Jin replied, "Auntie, I have to go back tomorrow! There's still a lot to do in Beijing!"

Yang Taohua nodded and said, "No matter how busy you are, you must take care of yourself. If you get tired over there, come back and stay for a while." Lin Jianmin chimed in, "Yes, Xiaojin, this will always be your home." Li Jin felt a warm glow in her heart and smiled in agreement. At this moment, Lin Tao suddenly spoke up, "Sister Xiaojin, what do you do in Beijing? Is it some kind of impressive job?" Li Jin smiled and said, "I just do some small business there." Lin Tao's eyes were full of admiration, "Sister Xiaojin, you're so amazing! I want to go to Beijing someday and be as capable as you." Lin Jianmin patted Lin Tao on the shoulder, "Then you'd better study hard."

Lin Tao deflated like a punctured balloon. "Dad, I know, I'll try my best." After saying that, Lin Tao looked at Li Jin expectantly. "Sister Jin, can you tell me about Beijing? Is it full of skyscrapers and lots of new and exciting things?" Li Jin smiled and nodded. "Yes, Beijing is very prosperous. There are all kinds of shops and many advanced things." She briefly described some of Beijing's sights to Lin Tao, who listened with wide eyes. At this moment, Yang Taohua brought out a plate of fruit from the house. "Eat some fruit, don't just chat." Everyone ate fruit while continuing to chat. Before they knew it, it was bedtime. After washing up, Li Jin lay in bed, listening to the chirping of insects outside the window, her heart filled with emotion. Although she was going back to Beijing tomorrow, this trip home had made her feel the long-lost warmth of family. She secretly vowed to herself that she would come back to visit more often and do her best to make her uncle's family's life better. With these thoughts, Li Jin gradually drifted off to sleep.

Xiao Chen arrived at around 8 a.m. the next day. Yang Taohua got up early to make breakfast, so the family had already eaten by 8 a.m. Yang Taohua even saved some for Xiao Chen. This time, Xiao Chen didn't stand on ceremony, sat down and ate breakfast, and then Li Jin left.

She originally wanted to go directly to the hospital, but Xiao Chen said that Grandpa Fu was discharged from the hospital last night and returned to the retirement home!

So the car went directly to the retirement home, where Li Jin stayed with Chief Fu for half a day. It wasn't until 4 p.m. that Li Jin left the retirement home for the train station. During that time, Xiao Li had already packed Li Jin's luggage and bought him a sleeper ticket!
