Chapter 17 Warning (2/2)

Lin Jin knew nothing about the Lin family, nor did she want to know. From the moment she stepped out of the Lin family's gate, she had no connection with them. As long as the Lin family didn't provoke her in the future, she would consider them all dead. If they did provoke her, she wouldn't be soft-hearted.

Lin Jin had been diligently practicing the Banquet Returning Skill for a long time, but had only reached the fifth level. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't make any further breakthroughs. The text recorded in the ancient book detailing the cultivation method of the Banquet Returning Skill was as obscure and difficult to understand as a celestial script to Lin Jin; she could barely decipher or comprehend most of it, only recognizing a few simple numbers. Perhaps only by fully understanding and comprehending all the text could she possibly continue to cultivate it more deeply.

Days passed by in this busy and exploratory pace, and before we knew it, it was already the tenth month of the lunar calendar. The busy farm work was long over, and the vast fields gradually returned to tranquility. With the changing seasons, the weather grew increasingly cold, with each day's temperature lower than the previous one. Stepping outside in the morning, one could feel the biting chill, making one shiver involuntarily.

Lin Jin meticulously managed her mysterious and wondrous space, which was filled with a dazzling array of vegetables. These vegetables weren't planted randomly; they were carefully planned and conceived long ago. After all, constantly selling medicinal herbs would arouse suspicion, especially expensive ones. Therefore, generating income through vegetable cultivation became a wise choice for her.

With winter fast approaching, Lin Jin felt a surge of joy. She knew that fresh vegetables would be in high demand during the cold season, and sales would be excellent. Despite having already made several transactions with the black market boss, she remained highly vigilant, never revealing her true identity or name. In each exchange, she only told him her surname was "Mu." Of course, she also knew that the black market boss's surname was Xing, and that people around him either respectfully called him "Brother Xing" or "Boss Xing."

Lin Jin sat on a stone bench in her small courtyard, tapping lightly on the table as she secretly pondered when she could return to the mysterious black market to sell the mountain of fresh vegetables piled up in her storage space. After all, these vegetables were the result of her careful planting and care; it would be a real pity if she couldn't sell them for cash in time.

However, several pregnant women in the village are about to give birth, their due dates all falling within these two days. Although Lin Jin knows she might not be needed, as a doctor, her sense of mission to save lives and be responsible for her patients remains strong, making her hesitant to leave the village and risk her life. If an emergency were to occur while she was out, and she wasn't there, she feared she would feel guilty for the rest of her life. Lin Jin can only hold back for now and patiently wait for the right opportunity.

Five days later, Lin Jin finally embarked on her journey to the black market again. This time, she bought 500 yuan worth of vegetables from her spatial storage. Besides the quality of the vegetables, they were truly rare these days. She also traded a considerable amount of fruit seeds and pork with Boss Xing. She had been asking Boss Xing to keep an eye out for seeds for her, and she hadn't expected to actually get them. Lin Jin happily headed back with her haul. As soon as she got off the bus in town, Lin Jin felt someone was following her. Knowing she was being followed, she didn't dare take out her bicycle; walking back to the village would take an hour or two.

Lin Jin knew she was being targeted, and she didn't know how many people were behind it. Although she wasn't afraid, she didn't want to be schemed against.

Lin Jin deliberately slowed his pace, heading towards a less crowded area. Finally, he reached a corner, where two people walked out from the front. When Lin Jin turned around, two more people were standing behind him. Lin Jin sized them up and asked, "Comrade, is something the matter?" The thugs suddenly burst into laughter, uttering obscene and vulgar words. Then, one of the thugs reached out to touch Lin Jin, but he dodged away immediately. He then smiled and said, "Brothers, this isn't convenient. Let's find a secluded spot and do it slowly."

Upon hearing this, the thugs were overjoyed and said, "Come on, brothers, we'll take you to the woods behind the house. We'll make sure you have a good time."

They reached out to pull Lin Jin away, but Lin Jin looked around and saw no one. She then followed them into the woods behind the building. As soon as they entered, several thugs surrounded Lin Jin.

Lin Jin simply waved her hands, and the four men stood frozen, staring at her in terror, unable to utter a sound. Lin Jin smiled and said, "Gentlemen, isn't it great? It'll get even better in a bit." With another wave of her hand, one of the men suddenly collapsed to the ground, foaming at the mouth. The other three, seeing this, were even more terrified, their eyes filled with pleading. Lin Jin sneered, "Today is just a lesson for you. If you dare to bully a young lady again, you won't be so lucky." With that, she flicked her sleeve again, and the men regained their mobility, scrambling away as they ran.

Lin Jin clapped his hands and walked out of the woods as if nothing had happened. Then he rode his bicycle towards the village. Just as he reached the village entrance, he ran into Aunt Wang from the village, who was rushing over. "Lin Zhiqing, you're finally back!"
