"What's wrong with Aunt Wang? Has something happened in the village?"
"No, no, I was just too excited to see you!" Lin Jin was speechless.
"Lin Zhiqing, today is incredible! Someone actually drove all the way to our village to find you!" Aunt Wang shouted excitedly to Lin Jin.
Looking for me? A sense of doubt welled up in Lin Jin's heart. She didn't have any particularly close relatives in this village, so why would someone suddenly come to her door? And according to Aunt Wang, the person who came seemed to be connected to the military, could it be...?
"That's right, that's right, they're here to see you. I think they're from the military, wow, look at that entourage, quite a big deal! Oh right, the brigade secretary personally brought them over! They're waiting at Captain Yang's house right now." Aunt Wang became more and more excited as she spoke, even forgetting to do her work.
Upon hearing this, Lin Jin immediately stopped her bicycle. She simply got off and slowly pushed it forward. As she walked, she continued talking to Aunt Wang: "Aunt Wang, do you know what they wanted to talk to me about?"
"Well... I'm not too sure either. But she seems to be in a hurry, maybe it's something important. Oh dear, you should go and see for yourself!" Aunt Wang waved her hand, signaling Lin Jin to quicken her pace.
And so, Lin Jin pushed her bicycle all the way and soon arrived at the captain's house. Before she even entered, she heard a cacophony of voices coming from inside, as if quite a few people were talking at once.
The door wasn't closed, and Lin Jin walked straight in. Yang Hai happened to come out of the house at that moment. "Captain, I heard you were looking for me."
"Oh! Lin Zhiqing is here. Someone is looking for you. They came at noon, went to your house but didn't find you, so they waited for you here!"
Hearing the voices outside, the people inside came out. The leader was an older man, next to him was the secretary of Baiyang Brigade, and then there were two younger men!
Lin Jin looked at it and then said, "Sir, you were looking for me?" The old man suddenly laughed and said, "Don't you remember me, little girl?"
Lin Jin thought for a moment and then said happily, "You are Grandpa Fu!"
"Grandpa Fu, what brings you here?"
Grandpa Fu held Lin Jin's slender, warm hand tightly, a kind smile spreading across his wrinkled face. In a slightly hoarse but grateful voice, he said slowly, "Girl, those medicines you gave me last time were truly miraculous! They worked incredibly well, allowing me to enjoy several months of peaceful life! But now, the weather is getting colder, and my old ailment has started acting up again, causing me terrible pain! You mentioned you had a way to completely cure it, so this old man shamelessly came to ask for your help!"
Lin Jin quickly and gently patted Grandpa Fu's calloused and slightly trembling hands, and softly comforted him, "Grandpa Fu, please don't say that. It's not a problem at all! Treating the sick and saving lives is my duty and obligation as a doctor."
"Grandpa Fu, your illness will take half a month to cure, so where will you stay?"
The brigade secretary quickly said, "Lin, don't worry about that. Commander Fu can stay in an unused room in the brigade headquarters; it's close to your courtyard, making treatment convenient." Lin Jin nodded in agreement. "It's too late today. Let me take your pulse first, and then I'll prescribe some medicine for you! So you can get a good night's sleep!"
