After drinking the water, whether it was a placebo effect or a real miracle, Wang Jingyi felt that the pain in her lower back, which had been persistent, seemed to have lessened considerably.
Su Yue put the cup down, turned around, and found that Wang Jingyi had closed her eyes and fallen into a deep sleep.
Lunch will be at Wang Jingyi's house today, so Su Yue won't be able to use her "cheating tools".
She tiptoed away to the small commune to buy groceries.
Wang Jingyi was woken up by hunger. She went to the kitchen, supporting her back. Su Yue was cooking. She asked, "What are you cooking, Yueyue?"
Su Yue stopped cooking when she heard Wang Jingyi's voice. She turned around and saw Wang Jingyi holding her waist. She was a little confused. Did the water she drank not have any effect?
Seeing Su Yue staring blankly at her, Wang Jingyi couldn't help but smile: "Why are you looking at me like that?"
Su Yue frowned and asked, "Does your back still hurt?"
That's impossible! Could it be that the water's effects have failed?
I didn't give it to her for more than half an hour.
Wang Jingyi was about to say it hurt, but after carefully feeling it, she widened her eyes in surprise: "My back doesn't hurt anymore, Yueyue, my back doesn't hurt anymore!"
Su Yue secretly breathed a sigh of relief when she saw that Su Yue had put down her hand that was supporting her waist and had taken a few steps in the same spot.
Thankfully, the water supply didn't malfunction. I guess she had been subconsciously feeling back pain for a long time and only felt comfortable when she was holding onto it. She was a little unaccustomed to the sudden relief.
Wang Jingyi suddenly wrinkled her nose: "Yueyue, the food is burnt."
He quickly walked over and reduced the firewood's volume.
Su Yue quickly looked into the pot and saw that the sweet potato leaves had indeed turned half black.
Wang Jingyi quickly put out the fire, stood up and peeked out to check: "Yueyue likes to eat sweet potato leaves, I'll go to the vegetable garden and pick some more."
Su Yue: "No need, there are other dishes."
The pork in the small commune was sold out, so she bought back the remaining bones and half a chicken. She also bought carrots to make soup with the ribs, and bell peppers and mushrooms to stir-fry with the chicken. She also stir-fried green beans and cucumber with eggs. Only the sweet potato leaves were picked from her space.
Wang Jingyi turned around and picked up the vegetable basket, a gentle smile on her face: "It's okay, these vegetables are easy to cook, I'll be back soon."
The dishes that Yueyue liked to eat were burned because she was talking to her for a few minutes, but she insisted on making sure that her child could eat them no matter what.
When Wang Jingyi returned, Fu Shen was following behind her.
After dinner, Su Yue and Fu Shen returned home.
Su Yue: "It seems my godmother didn't notice. It was only after she drank the water I poured that her back pain stopped."
Fu Shen also noticed that Wang Jingyi kept mentioning during the meal that her back, which usually ached for several days, would be fine after a morning's sleep.
She was easy to fool, but Yang Guohua was not so easy to deceive.
That evening, when Yang Guohua returned home after finishing his work, he was shocked to see Wang Jingyi humming a tune while cooking. He stared wide-eyed, hardly believing his eyes.
Wang Jingyi ladled the food into a bowl, then turned around and saw Yang Guohua standing behind her. She was so startled that she almost dropped the food.
She glared at her reproachfully: "You came back without making a sound, who are you trying to scare?"
Yang Guohua took the bowl of food and placed it on the table. He then turned around and asked with an incredulous look, "Your back doesn't hurt anymore?"
Wang Jingyi smiled brightly: "It doesn't hurt anymore. I told you that it would be fine after sleeping all morning, but you still insisted on troubling Yueyue to take care of me."
Since becoming the political commissar, Yang Guohua has tried hard to restrain himself from scratching his head, considering it a foolish act.
At this moment, he scratched his head without paying attention and muttered to himself, "Before, when you woke up after a nap, you didn't seem to get better. This time, with Yueyue taking care of you, how come you got better so quickly?"
He was out running errands today, and he kept thinking about Wang Jingyi, worrying about all sorts of inconveniences for her. Now it seems he was worrying for nothing.
Wang Jingyi feigned anger: "What are you muttering about? Let's eat."
