"Whom you arrested and what they confessed to have to do with me?" After a moment, Lu Jingui calmed down and sneered contemptuously.
She slowly picked up the teacup and gently stirred the tea leaves on the surface of the water with the lid.
"But you, instead of thinking about how to clean up your dad's mess, come here to swagger around. Don't you care about your dad's life or death?"
Chu Hongyu wasn't annoyed; she merely smiled slightly, her eyes flashing with an indescribable chill.
“Chairman Lu, my father is innocent, so don’t rush to distance yourself. To tell you the truth, I caught Ding Lan last night, and she confessed to everything, including… the fact that you instructed her to put up my big-character poster.”
Chu Hongyu deliberately dragged out the last syllable, her sharp gaze fixed on Lu Jingui, observing every subtle change in her expression.
Sure enough, a crack appeared in Lu Jingui's previously nonchalant expression.
But she quickly regained her composure and sneered, "Chu Hongyu, don't make baseless accusations! Everyone knows what kind of person Ding Lan is, but don't you? She'll do anything for money. You actually believe what she says?"
Lu Jingui's slightly swollen eyes held undisguised mockery, as if he were looking at a presumptuous clown.
"Don't forget, the whole department knows that you and Ding Lan have the worst relationship. Don't end up shooting yourself in the foot and getting bitten back at her."
Lu Jingui curled up a mocking smile, as if he had already seen through Chu Hongyu's trick.
Chu Hongyu said calmly, "Chairman Lu, you don't need to worry about me. The school previously wanted to punish those who indiscriminately posted big-character posters and carried the unhealthy practices of the Great Movement into the present day..."
"Do you think you can still hold onto your position as the student union president if I hand over all the witnesses and evidence to the school?"
"You dare threaten me?" Lu Jingui sneered contemptuously.
"Threat? Chairman Lu, you're exaggerating. How could I dare to threaten you?" Chu Hongyu chuckled.
But her tone carried a hint of coldness: "I just think it would be terrible if everyone knew that a student leader like you, who is supposed to be of 'high moral character,' was actually like this in private."
Chu Hongyu stopped at the door and said without turning her head, "Take care of yourself!"
After saying that, she left the student council office without looking back.
After Chu Hongyu left, the fake smile on Lu Jingui's face vanished instantly.
She smashed the teacup on the table to the ground, and the delicate teacup shattered into pieces instantly. She didn't even notice the scalding tea splashing onto her feet.
"Chu Hongyu, you think you can beat me? You just wait!" Lu Jingui growled through gritted teeth, his eyes flashing with venomous light.
Hearing the commotion, Zhang Hongmei cautiously pushed open the door and entered. Seeing the mess on the floor, she was so frightened that she didn't dare to breathe.
"Chairman Lu, what's wrong?"
"You still have the nerve to ask me what's wrong?" Lu Jingui suddenly turned his head, his slightly swollen eyes staring intently at Zhang Hongmei.
"What did I tell you back then? Huh? You can't even handle a simple task, what use are you!"
Zhang Hongmei was startled by Lu Jingui's appearance, but she quickly recovered and approached him with a smile, saying, "Chairman Lu, please don't be angry. I... I will definitely pay attention next time."
"And that Ding Lan, she's absolutely stupid! She got caught red-handed putting up a big-character poster in the middle of the night. Does she think she's handing out flyers? She even dared to say that I ordered her to do it?!" Lu Jingui was so angry that his chest heaved violently, as if he was about to faint at any moment.
"I... I didn't know she would be so stupid... I never expected her to betray us!" Zhang Hongmei whispered in defense.
"Don't know? I think you're just as stupid as her!" Lu Jingui sneered.
She said coldly, "Go to the school office right now and report that Ding Lan and Chu Hongyu have a long-standing conflict. She is jealous of Chu Hongyu's beauty and family background, so Ding Lan put up all those big-character posters by herself."
She wanted to first distance herself from the department's student union.
Anyway, this isn't the first time he's used his subordinates as shields.
