Chapter 732 The Battle Between Mature Men and Women

Chu Hongyu was almost laughing in anger; this person was truly narcissistic to the extreme!

This guy would brag about himself while simultaneously putting her down.

But she suddenly understood why Secretary Karena and the people in the elevator had those expressions.

They probably misunderstood her as Young Master Ning's new love interest!

It was after arriving at the Ning family that she read a lot of newspapers and saw many of the true and false rumors about Young Master Ning.

Plus the servants chatting—

Cha Mei-ling and the eldest son's marriage has ended. I wonder how many socialites and actresses in Hong Kong are vying for a position next to their boss.

But that doesn't include Chu Hongyu!

Because Ning Bingyu was her superior, she could only take a deep breath and say in a sarcastic tone—

"Young Master, your dazzling gold is hurting my eyes. Don't worry, I've never thought about dating a capitalist. After all, I'm a successor of socialism."

This capitalist in front of me, with that mouth of his, deserves to be hung up by ten streetlights!

Upon hearing this, Ning Bingyu buttoned up his clothes, walked to his desk, and picked up the documents that Chu Hongyu had brought.

"Oh? Miss Chu has a very high level of awareness. However, capitalism also has its advantages. For example, haven't you come all this way to learn from us?"

Having worked in mainland China for a period of time, he also learned some of the local concepts of class struggle and ideological awareness.

Chu Hongyu gave a forced smile: "Isn't this learning from the barbarians to subdue them? Just wait and see, the world will surely be a place where red flags fly all over the globe, and capitalists will be hanging from lampposts sooner or later."

Fortunately, Ning Yuan had taught her how to criticize Ning Bingyu politely and respectfully without using profanity.

Ning Bingyu finally looked at her properly. He casually tossed the documents on the table, walked up to Chu Hongyu, and looked down at her.

"Assistant Chu, are you trying to hang me on a lamppost? And you still say you're not a dangerous element?"

Forced by him, Chu Hongyu subconsciously took a step back, her back against the bookshelf: "Young Master, I was just joking. Shall we sign the documents first?"

As he approached, the image of the needle's eye she had just seen flashed through her mind—

Unlike his refined but depraved facade, this "massive" capitalist is no, in fact, everyone in this capitalist family is depraved.

Ning Bingyu looked at her, trying to remain calm.

He crossed his arms, lowered his head slightly, almost bringing his nose to her face, and his smile held a dangerous undertone.

"Are you so quick-witted because you learned it from Ning Yuan, or is this just how you are?"

A warning bell rang in Chu Hongyu's mind. She could almost feel the masculine hormones emanating from Ning Bingyu, a scent that was aggressive and carried a hint of danger.

She shifted uncomfortably, her back pressed tightly against the bookshelf.

Stirring up a man's desire to conquer is not a good thing.

Especially since she knew what he had done when he was drunk last time.

but……

She was no naive young girl; Chu Hongyu suddenly calmed down, produced a pen from somewhere, and raised her delicate eyebrows—

"Young Master is joking. If I could hang you on a street lamp, would I still be working for you? Let's look at the documents and sign them?"

Ning Bingyu reached out and took the pen from her hand, his well-defined fingers inadvertently brushing against Chu Hongyu's fingertips.

He looked down at her and noticed that Chu Hongyu, who had initially seemed a little uncomfortable from being so close, had regained her composure, except for a slight blush on her face.

He narrowed his almond-shaped eyes, and said with a half-smile—

"Assistant Chu, I asked you to stay with Ning Yuan so that she wouldn't jump off a building or into the sea and upset my mother, not to learn how to be glib with her."

An eerie ambiguity hung in the air, as if something was about to explode.

But this ambiguous atmosphere only lasted a few seconds. Ning Bingyu quickly averted his gaze, walked behind his desk, sat down, picked up the documents and started looking through them, reverting to his cold and aloof demeanor.

Chu Hongyu secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

After carefully reviewing the documents, Ning Bingyu picked up a pen and signed his name in a flourish.

After signing, he handed the document to Chu Hongyu and casually asked, "How's Ning Yuan lately? Is she still throwing a tantrum?"

Chu Hongyu took the document, glanced at it quickly, and put it into her bag after confirming that it was correct. She replied in a formulaic tone, "Miss Ning is currently busy with the spring auction and is selecting items for the auction."

"Spring Auction?" Ning Bingyu paused, then looked out the window, where the view of Victoria Harbour was unobstructed.

There was a hint of weariness in his voice: "Yes, it's already the tenth day of the lunar month, spring has arrived."

He paused for a moment, then said self-deprecatingly, "This year... there was an accident at the dock, and Anan went missing and died. We didn't celebrate the Spring Festival at all. The chairman personally went north on the 29th of the lunar year. Everyone lost the concept of celebrating the New Year. It was just like a normal working day."

Rong Zhaonan's accident is a really big deal.

It also involved a diplomatic incident, casting a dark shadow over the entire Ning family.

As a mere CEO, he's no longer qualified to travel north to report. If it weren't for the old man's partial paralysis, he probably would have had to travel north in person to explain.

No one was in the mood to celebrate the New Year.

Chu Hongyu remained silent for a moment, looking at Ning Bingyu's silent back, and said softly, "Everything will be alright."

Ning Bingyu turned around, gave her a deep look, and said nothing.

After a moment of silence, just as Chu Hongyu was about to say she was leaving, Ning Bingyu finally spoke—

"Why did Ning Yuan suddenly decide to get involved in the Chenguang Charity Socialite Association?"

Chu Hongyu lowered her eyes, concealing the fleeting glint of shrewdness in them—

"Xiao Ning earned her first pot of gold in the mainland by doing antique business, so she is quite familiar with antiques. I heard that there are many rare items at the Spring Auction of the Morning Light Socialite Club. She is helping Madam Ning take a look and doing her part as a filial piety."

"This Morning Light Charity Socialite Gathering is mainly an auction of antiques and calligraphy to raise funds for charity. She's basically doing something for Madam Ning."

Upon hearing this, Ning Bingyu suddenly let out a soft scoff—

"Filial piety? I think she has ulterior motives. She doesn't want to be controlled by the family like me and plans to start her own business. She's quite shrewd. She knows that Mommy's side is the weakest link in the influence of Grandpa and Uncle."

He said with a hint of amusement, "She really is... unwilling to suffer even the slightest loss."

Chu Hongyu lowered her eyes, her tone remaining calm: "I don't know what Ningning is thinking. She didn't agree, so I won't say anything more."

Ning Bingyu gently pushed up his glasses: "You and Ning Yuan are indeed kindred spirits, both very opinionated and intelligent women. No wonder you can be sisters."

Chu Hongyu smiled neither humbly nor arrogantly: "Young Master, you flatter me. I was just doing my duty."

Ning Bingyu waved his hand, indicating that she could leave: "Alright, go out, I have things to do."

He picked up the document again.

Chu Hongyu nodded: "Yes."

She paused, coughed lightly, and pointed to the doorway: "How do I open this door?"

Ning Bingyu glanced at her and chuckled lightly, "There's a switch under the lights on either side of the door."

"Thank you, young master." Chu Hongyu nodded and turned to walk outside.

She's a country bumpkin, there's nothing you can do about it.

"Wait a minute." Ning Bingyu didn't even look up, his finger lightly tapping on the document. "Report any problems immediately." His voice was unreadable, as if it were just a routine matter.

After the office door closed, the room returned to silence.

Ning Bingyu put down the documents in his hand and leaned back. The faint scent of tuberose from Chu Hongyu still lingered in the air.

She was elegant and charming, yet carried a subtle, almost imperceptible, coldness, just like the person she was.
