An extra chapter for Chapter 100. Goodnight.
Gu Yiye and Lin Shanshan were not in a hurry to go home; they had to go back to the hospital to accompany General Ren first.
When Ren Shiyou saw his grandson and granddaughter-in-law, he grabbed Gu Yiye's hand and said happily, "I feel much better today. It's true that good things make people feel refreshed. I also have to thank Shanshan for the milk. I haven't slept so soundly in a long time!"
Lin Shanshan said, "Grandpa's health is slowly recovering, and your health will definitely get better day by day."
Ren Shiyou said, "Shanshan is the best at talking; it makes Grandpa happy."
Then he asked, "Why didn't I see you when I woke up?"
Gu Yiye replied, "You had just fallen asleep when Ren Mingzhu came and said she wanted to visit you, so Shanshan and I went out to buy some fruit."
Ren Shiyou wondered, "I didn't see her. She must have lost patience and didn't want to wait for this old man to wake up, so she went back. This girl has been spoiled by her mother."
Ren Shiyou shook his head, seemingly unwilling to talk more about Ren Mingzhu.
He simply said, “Yi Ye, I’ve already had your third uncle tell your second uncle that you are Guo Fan’s child and my eldest grandson. Both families know. Your second uncle is busy with work, and your second aunt also works in the agricultural department. They live in the countryside. We’ll celebrate together when they come back.”
“Your fourth uncle’s work requires confidentiality, so we can’t contact him. Your third uncle probably hasn’t told your fourth aunt yet. She’s an artist and used to be the daughter of a capitalist, so she seems a bit out of place with us. Let’s talk about it when your fourth uncle comes back.”
"By the way, your third aunt passed away from cancer a couple of years ago. Don't ask your third uncle, so as not to bring up painful memories for him."
Gu Yiye said, "Okay, Grandpa, don't worry about these things. As long as you get better, that's more important than anything else."
Lin Shanshan took out a bunch of bayberries from the bag, which she had taken out of her spatial storage earlier.
There was no dust or pests in the space. Lin Shanshan handed the bayberries to Ren Shiyou and said, "Grandpa, these are clean. Try them, they're quite appetizing."
Ren Shiyou took it but didn't eat it immediately. He seemed to remember something and said, "Back then, when we were fighting the Japanese, we were trapped on the mountain without water. We survived by eating bayberries."
After saying that, he ate one. It was sweet and sour, and his mouth watered. He recalled the glorious years of the past. Before he knew it, the whole bunch of bayberries had gone into the old general's stomach.
Seeing that her grandfather had a good appetite, Lin Shanshan brought out lychees and apricots, both of which were in season in June and would not arouse suspicion.
The two chatted with their grandfather for a while. When it was time for dinner, their third uncle sent a guard to take care of General Ren. Only then did Gu Yiye say goodbye to his grandfather and take Lin Shanshan back to the Lin family home for dinner.
Tonight, Brother Lin and his wife Wenyu are also having dinner at home, making it a family reunion dinner for the Lin family.
After the family finished their meal happily, Lin Shanshan packed a large bag of fruit she had taken out of her spatial storage and gave it to her older brother and sister-in-law to take home.
Lin's parents also had a large bag. In addition, they took some common nourishing Chinese medicine from their space. They didn't dare to take ginseng because it was hard to explain.
“Mom and Dad, you often work overtime and night shifts. These Chinese herbs were dug up by me when I went to the countryside. They are all wild. When you are tired, you can drink some to nourish your yin and yang.”
Mr. Lin: "Our daughter has grown up and knows how to be filial to her parents."
Lin's mother said, "Our daughter has always been very filial, hasn't she? How can you say that?"
"Yes, yes, Madam is right, I was wrong." Mr. Lin hurriedly apologized with a smile.
