Chapter 16, Fourth Goal
Where should the seeds be planted?
Gu Yiye said, "I have a good place!"
Lin Shanshan looked at him with bright eyes and asked, "Where?"
Gu Yiye said, "The place I live now is Li Ziqiang's house. He lost his parents when he was young. In order to support him, his grandmother opened two large vegetable gardens in front of and behind the house and planted a lot of vegetables!"
"The brigade leader at the time saw that they were old and young and felt sorry for them, so he contacted the unit's canteen to come and buy vegetables from their family. Li Ziqiang grew up on those vegetables."
Lin Shanshan sighed with emotion, realizing how lucky she was to have lived a life free from want since childhood.

Gu Yiye said, "Shanshan, you didn't buy many seeds today. Those two vegetable gardens can definitely accommodate them."
Lin Shanshan asked, "It must have been a long time since we planted any vegetables in the garden."
Gu Yiye said, "It won't be long. It will be ready to use after a little tidying up."
Lin Shanshan nodded: "That's alright, I'll go first thing tomorrow morning."
Zeng Huihuang and Chen Meili, tired from chasing each other, heard them talking about planting vegetables and said they would go help them the next morning.
Gu Yiye said, "Alright, I'll head back now. Shanshan, don't get up too early tomorrow, just sleep until you naturally wake up."
Lin Shanshan nodded: "Okay, then be careful on your way back."
Gu Yiye smiled, said "Goodnight," and rode his bicycle back under the moonlight.
He had barely left when Fang Duoduo returned!
He came back, reeking of alcohol and staggering.
Chen Meili scoffed and muttered under her breath, "She's so shameless. What if she gets bullied someday? She'll regret it then."
She could only mutter to herself that if Fang Duoduo were her sister, she would break her legs.
As Fang Duoduo approached, the red marks on her neck became clearly visible.
Chen Meili asked kindly, "Fang Duoduo, were you bitten by a mosquito? There are mosquitoes this time of year, that shouldn't be the case."
Lin Shanshan had experienced it last night, so she immediately understood what it was. She blushed and remained silent.
Zeng Huihuang tugged at Chen Meili and whispered, "Are you stupid? Can a mosquito catch one person and bite one spot?"
Chen Meili retorted, unconvinced, "You're not stupid, then tell me what that is?"
Zeng Huihuang is a typical person who has never eaten pork but has seen pigs run; he has read plenty of those kinds of risqué books.
He mysteriously raised two thumbs up, then brought them together in the middle.
Chen Meili still looked bewildered, but you can't blame her; she's still a virgin.
Zeng Huihuang had no choice but to be blunt: "That's from a man biting her."
Chen Meili finally understood. Her face turned bright red, and she glared at Zeng Huihuang, cursing, "You filthy scoundrel!"
Zeng Huihuang was baffled by the scolding and sought comfort from Lin Shanshan: "Shanshan, look at her, she's going to ask again, and if I tell her, she'll scold me again."
Lin Shanshan laughed and said, "Okay, don't be upset! Go to bed early, we have to get up early to plant vegetables tomorrow."
Zeng Huihuang thumped his chest loudly and said, "Leave tomorrow to me. I'm stronger and more powerful than you girls."
Lin Shanshan smiled and said, "Okay, then I'll rely on you tomorrow."
After saying that, she took her toothbrush, towel, and basin and went to wash up.
When Fang Duoduo returned after washing up, she was already fast asleep, snoring loudly.
Chen Meili sat there with a look of utter disgust on her face, as if she had no will to live.
Fang Duoduo fell asleep without brushing her teeth or washing her face, and couldn't be woken up no matter how hard you tried.
Reeking of a sour, foul odor, Chen Meili's bed was in the middle of the three people's beds, and the strange smell permeated the air as soon as she lay down. It made her want to vomit.
Lin Shanshan said, "Meili, why don't you sleep with me tonight? Let's make do for one night."
