Chapter 163 Back to Haishi
Having finally gotten rid of Chen Peng, Gu Yiye started the car. Lin Shanshan lay comfortably in the passenger seat, her eyes half-closed. She put the roast ducks in her storage space, planning to take them out as gifts when they were almost home.
"I bought so much, it's enough to eat."
Lin Shanshan took out a milk from her spatial storage, took a sip, and felt thirsty after lecturing Chen Peng.
"Brother Gu, would you like some milk?"
Gu Yiye is a good man who obeys traffic rules. He parked the car on the side of the road before saying, "Get a bottle of coffee to perk you up."
Lin Shanshan took out a bottle of coffee from her left hand and handed it to Gu Yiye. She watched Gu Yiye drink it, his Adam's apple bobbing, and the small black mole on his lip looking particularly lively.
After Gu Yiye finished drinking, Lin Shanshan leaned over and kissed the little black mole.
Gu Yiye chuckled, hugged Lin Shanshan and kissed her for a few minutes before starting the car again.
After drinking the milk, Lin Shanshan slept all the way to Haishi. Halfway there, she was woken up by Gu Yiye, who took some snacks from his spatial storage and ate them.
When she got home, it was already past 10 p.m. Lin Shanshan, who had slept the whole way, was surprisingly energetic, her eyes shining brightly.
Aunt Xiang went to sleep long ago, and Grandpa's car didn't come back; he must be sleeping at the military base.
Seeing this as a rare opportunity, Lin Shanshan said, "Brother Gu, how about we have hot pot?"
Gu Yiye smiled and said, "Okay, take the things out and I'll go stir-fry the base ingredients."
A dozen minutes later, Lin Shanshan finally got to eat the hot pot she had been craving.
"The shrimp paste is delicious, and so is this fish slice. Brother Gu, you should eat more too."
Lin Shanshan ate by herself, but didn't forget to put some fatty lamb and fatty beef on Gu Yiye's plate.
After the two had eaten and drunk their fill, they went upstairs to wash up. Lin Shanshan washed up first. When Gu Yiye came out after his shower, he saw his little wife with her hands on the bed, her little bottom sticking out, her head down, doing something he didn't know.
Gu Yiye walked over and asked, "Shanshan, what's wrong?"
Lin Shanshan said excitedly, "Brother Gu, look, my belly isn't flat anymore, our babies have grown up."
Gu Yiye looked down and saw that there was indeed a small lump of flesh on his wife's fair belly. He curiously pinched it gently.
Lin Shanshan felt a little ticklish from Gu Yiye's teasing, so she turned over, touched her stomach with her hand, pursed her lips, and said, "I can't feel it when I'm lying flat."
Since Lin Shanshan became pregnant, Gu Yiye has read some pregnancy-related information and said, "It will take four or five months for the pregnancy to show, so don't worry, my little wife."
Lin Shanshan nodded, knowing that Gu Yiye was too tired today. She told him to go to bed quickly, then snuggled into Gu Yiye's arms and fell asleep listening to the man's steady heartbeat.
The next day, Lin Shanshan had lunch at home, left a roast duck for Aunt Xiang to give to her grandfather, and then went back to her parents' home for dinner with Gu Yiye.
In the car, Lin Shanshan thought for a moment and said to Gu Yiye, "Brother Gu, let's send a roast duck to Bai Xue's mother. If it weren't for her last time, I would have been spilled hot coffee on her."
Gu Yiye gripped the steering wheel, pondered for a moment, and said, "Okay."
Turn the car around and drive to the guesthouse where Bai Xue is staying.
The two got out of the car, carrying the wrapped roast duck, and were about to ask the receptionist which room Bai Xue was staying in when they saw Bai Xue carrying a suitcase, hurriedly preparing to leave.
"Mom, where are you going?" Lin Shanshan asked.
Bai Xue looked exhausted, sighed, and said, "My good-for-nothing youngest son is causing trouble at school again. The housekeeper called the guesthouse yesterday, so I have to go back and check on him."
Even though she was in a hurry, Bai Xue didn't forget what Gu Yiye had asked her to do. She took Lin Shanshan's hand and said, "Shanshan, Yiye, when I go back this time, I'll ship the equipment over first. I'll have the vice president bring the medicine over with me."
Lin Shanshan nodded and said, "Mom, there's no rush. I'm not going to give birth until the end of the year."
He handed the roast duck to Bai Xue and said, "This is a roast duck we brought back from the capital. It's delicious. Please take it back and try it."
Bai Xue was pleasantly surprised that her son and daughter-in-law hadn't forgotten to bring her local specialties even while traveling. The fatigue on her face seemed to disappear, and she said, "Thank you, Shanshan, thank you, son."
Gu Yiye asked, "Do you need me to take you to the airport?"
Bai Xue said, "No need, I just called a car. Shan Shan is pregnant, it's not good for her to sit in a car for too long."
Gu Yiye nodded and said, "Then I wish you a safe journey. Shanshan and I will be leaving now."
Bai Xue nodded and said, "Take good care of Shan Shan. Pregnancy is very hard for women."
Gu Yiye said, "I will."
Lin Shanshan also said, "Mom, don't worry. Have a safe journey."
After saying that, the two left the guesthouse and went back to Lin's parents' house for dinner.
