Chapter 114 You Have No Heart, Because Your Heart Is With Me
He was working with his back bent, lifting the hoe and then forcefully digging into the soil, seemingly tireless, shoveling and digging...
From Xiuxiu's perspective, you can see the veins bulging on his neck and the beads of sweat dripping down his neck.
His hair was so short that you could see his scalp. As if sensing the gaze of the person behind him, Li Dapeng's body tensed up, and his hand holding the hoe paused.
Just as he was about to turn around, Xiuxiu shifted her gaze and looked down at her toes.
“Actually, it’s just a little work, it won’t take us much time to do it.” Zhou Hongyi took a few steps forward and tried to grab Li Dapeng’s hoe again.
Li Dapeng immediately picked up the hoe again, saying, "It's okay, I'm not tired, you can rest!"
He started digging at the ground again.
"Xiuxiu, go inside and get Dapeng some water." Zhou Hongyi waved to Xiuxiu and urged, "Go quickly."
"Okay." Xiuxiu walked past Li Dapeng with her head down. Li Dapeng glanced at Xiuxiu's hurried legs out of the corner of his eye.
Those legs were long and straight. Li Dapeng only glanced at them before he dared not look again and quickly buried his head in his work.
A few minutes later, Xiuxiu came out with a large porcelain bowl filled with cooled boiled water.
"Here you go." Xiuxiu patted Li Dapeng on the back and handed the bowl to him.
Those fair and delicate hands were holding the porcelain bowl. Li Dapeng's breath hitched, and he licked his lips.
He quickly wiped his hands on his clothes and hurriedly reached for it.
My hand accidentally touched Xiuxiu's fingers. Xiuxiu was startled and quickly let go.
The water in the bowl sloshed around and spilled quite a bit, which made Li Dapeng very upset.
He mechanically brought the water to his lips, still thinking about the sensation he had just felt.
Soft, smooth, and tender—do all women's hands feel like this? Li Dapeng felt dizzy.
But then he thought back, and realized, "Damn, his hands weren't like that either. They were rough like toilet paper."
"Is it sweet?" Xiuxiu looked up and smiled. "I added some white sugar."
"Huh?" Li Dapeng looked at the empty bowl and belatedly smacked his lips. He had been lost in thought and hadn't tasted anything at all.
He immediately picked up the bowl again, tilted his head back, and forcefully poured some into his mouth. Luckily, a drop of water managed to get into his mouth, and Li Dapeng immediately beamed with a smile, shouting, "Sweet!"
Xiuxiu reached out and gestured with her chin towards him.
Li Dapeng, clutching the bowl, stared at her dumbfounded. "What are you doing?"
Xiuxiu sighed helplessly, "Give me the bowl."
"Oh." Li Dapeng quickly handed the bowl to Xiuxiu.
He's now filled with regret, feeling like he acted like a complete idiot.
Standing to the side, Zhou Hongyi smiled but didn't say anything. She thought it would be great if Xiuxiu could marry someone from the same village, and she envied Liuhua, who could look at her daughter eight times a day when she missed her.
Because there were no strong men in the family, and Zhou Hongyi was in poor health, if it weren't for Liu Dafa being the village chief and receiving their care, people in this village would look down on any family that didn't have a son to be the pillar of the family.
At first, Zhou Hongyi's idea was to find a son-in-law to live with Xiuxiu. It didn't matter if the family was poor or not. She could find someone from the same village who she knew well.
So now Zhou Hongyi finds Li Dapeng pleasing to the eye, but she just doesn't know what Xiuxiu thinks.
She glanced at her daughter's face, and Xiuxiu took the bowl, then lowered her head and went into the house.
