Chapter 175 Buying a Courtyard House (1/2)

Chapter 175 Buying a Courtyard House

Su Feng clutched the note tightly in her hand, watching him get off the bus with his schoolbag on his back.

Since it was the final stop, most people weren't in a hurry. Liu Nian and the others waited until most people had left before picking up their luggage and queuing up to leave.

Gu Weizhen had already reached the platform, and Su Feng looked up at him through the window.

He was still as nonchalant as ever. When his comrades came to pick him up, he grinned and threw his backpack at them. He moved his head, as if he was about to turn around.

Su Feng quickly lowered her head.

They followed the flow of people and slowly walked forward. After getting off the train, they realized that the man had disappeared.

Liu Nian first took Su Feng to register and helped her complete the enrollment procedures.

When they arrived at the dormitory, taking advantage of the fact that no one was around, Su Feng went to get her documents, and Liu Nian and Su Xu quickly took Su Feng's luggage out of their spatial storage.

Upon entering, Su Feng was a little stunned to see the large and small bags piled on the floor. "Sister Nian, your friend delivered the things?"

She looked around. "Where is everyone?"

Liu Nian chuckled and said, "He's gone; he's in a hurry."

"I'd like to thank them," Su Feng said with a smile, finding it a bit unbelievable.

What a coincidence! In just a short while, she didn't see the person who brought her luggage.

"He's quite busy." Liu Nian nodded, then chuckled awkwardly, quickly changing the subject, "Is everything done?"

Su Feng nodded, feeling even more embarrassed that the person was so busy yet still brought her luggage.

"Let me thank him in person when I have time," Su Feng said, bending down to pack her luggage, her tone filled with an indescribable sense of guilt.

Liu Nian wanted to say, "Really, there's no need."

After settling Su Feng and Lin Meizhi in, Su Xu and Su Xu strolled around the campus.

Flags welcoming new students were hung all over the campus, and everyone was full of vigor and energy. The new students, carrying large and small bags, looked around curiously, their eyes full of anticipation.

This is the highest institution of learning. Liu Nian had never been to university before, and she felt a kind of indescribable regret.

“When we have time in the future, let’s come and experience campus life.” Su Xu took Liu Nian’s hand, and the two strolled slowly through the campus, brushing past the students. Suddenly, they both felt young again.

Actually, they are only in their twenties, but their souls are already those of middle-aged and elderly people.

It was a wonderful feeling. Liu Nian looked at them with the loving gaze of someone looking at the future flowers of the motherland.

There was no subway yet, so Liu Nian and Su Xu had to take a bus to get to the famous Tiananmen Square.

There are no security guards, no fences, people are fishing in the moat, and there are even people practicing their singing early in the morning.

Liu Nian had visited this place in her previous life, and the feeling was completely different from now.

This place isn't a tourist attraction yet; people come here to stroll and walk after meals, and it's a common occurrence.

Liu Nian followed behind them, walking slowly.

I just don't know how much a courtyard house costs now.

The two strolled around the hutongs. The hutongs were now full of the warmth of everyday life, unlike the increasingly commercialized ones of the future, where the authentic old Beijing feeling would be gone.

Honeycomb briquettes were piled up at the door, and children ran from one house to another, each carrying a candied hawthorn.

Standing at the entrance of the alley, you can still smell the aroma of food wafting out.

Liu Nian stood there and looked around, knowing how valuable houses in this area would become in the future, especially those with multiple courtyards—those were worth hundreds of millions. Wouldn't it be great to own a few of these and just relax and be a couch potato?

In those days, there were no real estate agents, and there wasn't even the concept of buying and selling houses. Things like courtyard houses were probably still based on land deeds.

If I suddenly decide to buy a house, and even buy multiple houses, will it attract the attention of some people?

Just as the two were fretting over their situation, a drunken man suddenly appeared in front of them, carrying a half-empty bottle of liquor and muttering curses—

"You son of a bitch! I'll make sure you die someday!"

He lost his footing and nearly bumped into Liu Nian. Su Xu helped her and quickly took a few steps back.
