Chapter 83 An eye for an eye (2/2)

Su Xu thought about it and felt it was still not good; it would be too cruel to leave the one behind alone. Then he sighed.

Birth, aging, sickness, and death, as well as separation and death, are topics that no one can avoid.

At night, Su Xu slept very restlessly. When he woke up, he would look at the person sleeping next to him before closing his eyes again.

He suddenly woke up, looked around again, and didn't fall asleep until dawn.

But he didn't sleep for long before he was woken up by a chattering noise outside the door.

"You actually think you can fool this old lady!" Madam Hu grabbed Hu Zhiqing with one hand and Sun Xiaomei with the other, furious. "You're still playing tricks on me!"

“Your grandfather really came yesterday! He said he saw everything! You lied to Nianya, and he said that if you don’t apologize properly and do hard labor for Liu Nian, he won’t let you off the hook!”

Upon hearing this, the two men turned pale with fright and got goosebumps all over their bodies.

Did their deeds really get discovered by Grandpa underground? It's better to believe in ghosts than nothing!

When Liu Nian and Su Xu came out after getting dressed, they saw Hu Shi scolding her grandson and granddaughter-in-law.

The old man was furious. He sat on a rock, panting heavily, and cried out, "How could our Hu family produce people like you!"

"Grandma Hu, don't be angry." Liu Nian quickly went over and stood beside Hu Shi, comforting her: "Don't get angry with them, you'll ruin your health if you get angry."

Hu Zhiqing and Sun Xiaomei kept their heads down, not daring to look at Liu Nian even once.

"Apologize right now!" Madam Hu shouted angrily. "Your grandfather said that if you do this kind of swindling and cheating again, he will take you away!"

The two men were so frightened that their legs trembled, and they almost knelt down before Liu Nian.

"Sister Nian, we're sorry, we were wrong!" The two wiped the cold sweat from their brows and glanced at Madam Hu with apprehension.

Madam Hu then said, "Didn't Nian'er want to build a factory? You two will do the hard labor!"

"It's just hard labor, we can just put on a show," the two thought. But then Hu glared at them again—"Don't even think about slacking off. This is your grandfather's requirement. If you don't work hard, you'll be in big trouble!"

The two men looked ashen-faced.

Liu Nian lowered her head and smiled.

Aunt Cui, who had been sick for a while because of Liu Nian, finally had the energy to come out today and planned to see Liu Nian make a fool of himself, but things took a completely different turn.

She was so angry that she felt her illness, which had just been cured, was about to flare up again. She watched as a group of men started laying the foundation and pouring cement, working enthusiastically.

She became even more resentful. Originally, she wanted her son to marry Liu Nian, but Liu Nian didn't like her son, so she harbored more and more resentment.

Liu Nian is living such a good life, which makes Aunt Cui even more annoyed. If her son had married Liu Nian, she would be living a life of luxury right now!

So she prayed every day that Liu Nian's life would be miserable, so that she could proudly tell everyone that if she married his son, Liu Nian might not have to live such a hard life!

Mrs. Hu watched her grandson and granddaughter-in-law intently from the side, and would start scolding them whenever they tried to slack off.

Aunt Cui leaned closer, wanting to strike up a conversation, but Madam Hu knew what kind of person Aunt Cui was and didn't even want to look at her.

Liu Nian had Liu Hua cook a large pot of mung bean soup and then took Liu Hua to the construction site.

"It's hot, everyone drink more to cool off!" Liu Nian told Su Xu to distribute the drinks, and then personally served a bowl to Madam Hu.

Mrs. Hu kept declining, feeling embarrassed that her grandson had caused Liu Nian so much trouble.

Liu Nian glanced at Aunt Cui, who thought she would at least get a bowl of mung bean soup.

As a result, several people simply ignored her.

Aunt Cui snorted, grabbed a weed nearby, and said sarcastically, "You're out all the time, you probably don't even know who's come into the house, do you?"

"What do you mean?" Liu Nian frowned.
