Chapter 188 Family

Zhou Ruolan was the first to stand up and rush over.

"Doctor, how is the patient?"

Her voice was urgent and excited, showing how nervous she was at that moment.

The doctor slowly removed his mask and said expressionlessly.

"The patient was very lucky; no internal organs were damaged. After suturing, the internal bleeding stopped, and he is out of danger. However, due to excessive blood loss, he is very weak and needs to be hospitalized for observation for a few more days."

Upon hearing this, everyone present breathed a sigh of relief.

As long as there is no danger to life, everything is fine; staying in the hospital for a few days is no big deal.

A short while later, Xiao Baojun, with an IV drip attached, was wheeled out of the room.

He was still unconscious, his face pale. He had changed into a clean hospital gown and lay quietly in bed, as if asleep.

With the doctor's help, everyone was less nervous. Xiao Weiguo asked for the most expensive single room, and two nurses and the others helped push Xiao Baojun inside.

These kinds of wards were originally reserved for high-ranking officials, and even ordinary people with money couldn't get in.

In recent years, with the reform and opening up, hospitals, in order to generate revenue, have allowed anyone to get admitted as long as they have enough money, provided that no one is standing.

In addition to a large hospital bed, the room also has two sofas for caregivers to rest on. It has a private bathroom.

For Xiao Weiguo, this small amount of money was nothing; he was already thankful that Xiao Baojun had come out safely.

"Teacher Zhou, don't worry, we're here. Why don't you go back and change your clothes?"

Xiao Weiguo's injuries weren't serious; aside from some pain, they weren't affecting him much. Seeing Zhou Ruolan covered in blood, looking like she'd just come from a battlefield, Xiao Weiguo felt a pang of pity.

Unexpectedly, Zhou Ruolan shook her head.

“Chairman Xiao, you’re injured too. How can I let you suffer here? Your clothes are in a terrible state. You should go back. Xiao Yue has some clean clothes for me. Just have someone send me a couple of sets. I see there’s water in the bathroom. I can change here.”

Xiao Weiguo tried to persuade her for a long time, but Zhou Ruolan insisted on staying with him, and Xiao Weiguo had no choice.

"Alright then, I'll go back first and find your clothes to have someone bring them over."

After leaving the hospital, Liu Changhe originally intended to take Xiao Weiguo home, but Xiao Weiguo firmly refused.

His idea was to sneak back; although his injury wasn't serious, it looked quite frightening.

Half of his body was stained red with blood, especially his white shirt, where the blood was particularly conspicuous.

If the old lady saw this, who knows how frightened she would be. There are also two young children at home, and Xiao Weiguo doesn't want them to worry about him.

Liu Changhe had no choice but to agree and got into his car to return to the police station.

The back seats and footwell of the Crown car were covered in blood, making it impossible for anyone to sit there. Xiao Weiguo sat in the front seat.

Passing by a department store, he asked Jiao Bai to get out and buy him a new set of clothes, while he changed out of his blood-stained clothes in the car.

To cover up the wound on his shoulder, Xiao Weiguo specially asked Jiao Bai to buy him a long-sleeved shirt.

After carefully checking him over and finding no flaws, he felt relieved and let Jiao Bai drive him home.

Jiao Bai didn't go upstairs with him. Instead, he drove to the car wash alone. The Crown was in such a state that if it wasn't thoroughly cleaned, no one would be able to ride in it anymore.

Upon reaching the second floor and opening the door, Xiao Weiguo first peeked out cautiously. Seeing that his grandmother, Xiao Jiang, and Xiao Yue were not outside, he then carefully went inside.

That look is just like when you were a child, after getting into a fight with other kids and getting all bruised and battered, you didn't dare let the adults at home know.

Little did he expect that the moment his finger touched the doorknob of his room, the old lady came out of the kitchen with a dishcloth.

"Weiguo, you're back so late today? Have you eaten? I left some food for you in the pot, eat something if you're hungry."

As she spoke, the old lady took a rag and went into Xiao Yue's room, apparently to help her clean.

Xiao Weiguo glanced at his watch; it was already past eight o'clock in the evening. After all this commotion, he hadn't even had time to eat, and he was really hungry.

I first went to the living room and called Liu Ye, saying that there was an emergency and I needed her to come over.

Then he went into the kitchen, washed his hands and face, and brought the two plates of side dishes and a large bowl of rice that his grandmother had heated in the pot to the table, and began to eat heartily.

He often doesn't eat at home, but his grandmother always leaves food in the pot for him when he comes home late, so that he can have something hot to eat if he comes back.

This is the care an elderly person has for their younger generation; you never know how much they love you.

While eating, Xiao Weiguo listened to Xiao Yue practicing singing in her room. Her clear, childlike voice, mixed with Xiao Jiang's occasional disruptive noises, instantly relaxed Xiao Weiguo, who had been tense all afternoon.

This is home, where there's always a light for you to light, and family members are always waiting for your return.

No matter where you go, the place where your family is is the harbor where your soul can find peace.

Liu Ye was reading at home after dinner when she received a call from Xiao Weiguo, so she came downstairs.

The two families originally lived in the same building, one on the second floor and the other on the third floor.

Xiao Weiguo opened the door for her and, before she could ask any questions, pulled her into the restaurant.

"What's wrong?"

Only now did Liu Ye have the chance to ask Xiao Weiguo what had happened.

Xiao Weiguo peeked over to make sure no one was watching, then quietly told Liu Ye what had happened that afternoon.

When she heard that he was injured, Liu Ye's face turned pale with fright. She hurriedly pulled open Xiao Weiguo's shirt to see how serious the injury was.

Xiao Weiguo gently grabbed her small hand to stop her from moving.

"I'm fine, really. I called you over because I wanted you to go to Xiao Yue's room and find Zhou Ruolan a couple of changes of clothes. It's inconvenient for me to take care of her things since she's a woman."

As he spoke, he stretched his body to indicate to Liu Ye that he was fine.

Upon learning that Xiao Baojun was still in the hospital with Zhou Ruolan by his side, Liu Ye finally let go of Xiao Weiguo and turned to enter Xiao Yue's room.

Grandma was helping Xiao Yue clean her room, and Liu Ye greeted her with a smile.

"Grandma, Teacher Zhou has something to do tomorrow, so she asked me to bring her two pieces of her clothes."

As she spoke, she opened the wardrobe and began rummaging through it for clothes that Zhou Ruolan could wear in the summer.

Liu Ye had lived with her grandmother for so long that it naturally didn't arouse her grandmother's suspicion. She just said that she hadn't seen Teacher Zhou in a long time and that he never came to visit unless there was something wrong.

By the time Liu Ye finished picking out the clothes, Xiao Weiguo had already finished a large bowl of rice.

After telling Grandma, the two of them went downstairs together.

The Crown car had been taken somewhere to be cleaned by Jiao Bai, so they had to take a taxi together and return to the hospital.
