Chapter 189 Let's Get Married

In the hospital's private room, Zhou Ruolan sat on a chair by the bedside, staring blankly at the unconscious Xiao Baojun.

Having endured so much fright, her once beautiful face now looked somewhat haggard.

The experiences she had with Xiao Baojun kept replaying in her mind, and how difficult it was to get back together.

Who would have thought that just when things seemed to be looking up and they were about to get together, this unexpected thing happened.

Is this a good thing that I should be nagging about?

The door to the ward was gently pushed open, and Xiao Weiguo and Liu Ye walked in one after the other.

Pulling herself out of her thoughts, she stood up and smiled at Liu Ye behind her.

They had been living near Xiao Weiguo's house and were quite familiar with each other, being both teachers, so they had a lot to talk about. However, they hadn't seen each other much since the summer vacation began.

Along the way, Xiao Weiguo had already told Liu Ye everything about Xiao Baojun and Zhou Ruolan, and even Liu Ye didn't know that they had such a past.

Seeing Xiao Baojun unconscious in the ward and Zhou Ruolan covered in blood, she felt a pang of sadness.

Life is full of surprises; no one knows what tomorrow will bring.

Xiao Weiguo's arm was injured, and the things he brought for Zhou Ruolan were in Liu Ye's hands.

She walked over and gently put her arm around Zhou Ruolan's shoulder. At that moment, she didn't really know what words to use to comfort Zhou Ruolan.

Xiao Weiguo walked to the other side of the hospital bed and looked at Xiao Baojun, who was still unconscious. He asked in a low voice.

"Still not awake?"

Zhou Ruolan shook her head.

"Not yet, but the doctor just came to check on me and said I should wake up soon."

Xiao Weiguo breathed a sigh of relief and said to Zhou Ruolan.

"Go wash up. Look at what you've gotten on you. I even brought your clothes."

He pointed to the small package in Liu Ye's hand.

"Thank you, Willow Leaf."

Zhou Ruolan thanked Liu Ye in a low voice and took the small package from her.

"Teacher Zhou, please don't be so polite with me. Go and change your clothes."

Liu Ye smiled and gently pushed Zhou Ruolan into the private bathroom of the ward.

The bathroom door closed, and Liu Ye returned to Xiao Weiguo's side. She stretched out her arms, hugged Xiao Weiguo's waist tightly, and nestled her head in his chest.

At that moment, she deeply felt how lucky she was compared to the couple in front of her.

The journey has been relatively smooth, without any major setbacks. There have been no dramatic events, nor any life-or-death separations.

She had also read many novels about love, such as Anna Karenina and Jane Eyre. Every love story in those novels was full of ups and downs, something to yearn for yet also filled with regret.

In the hearts of many young girls like her, love should be like that—moving heaven and earth, the deepest and most perfect imprint of their youth.

Sometimes she even felt that her relationship with Xiao Weiguo was too bland.

It was so natural from the very beginning. Bibi knew that the other person had feelings for her, and she never confessed or rejected him. Everything just fell into place naturally.

It wasn't until this moment, when she truly faced a couple who had gone through life and death together, that she realized how lucky she was, as a girl herself.

Not every love story can be peaceful and uneventful, and not all lovers can have everything they desire like her.

She now understands that this is what love should truly be like.

She was lucky. Her luck came from Xiao Weiguo's tireless efforts. This man walked at the forefront of the storm, using his strong chest to support a complete sky for her and his brothers and sisters.

All of them, every member of Xiao Weiguo's family, can live carefree under this sky.

This man has given his all, without having to worry about making a living or his future.

What is the purpose?

Now she understands that everything Xiao Weiguo did was to allow each of them to enjoy this hard-won tranquility.

Nestled in this man's arms, she felt incredibly happy and completely safe.

"Wei Guo, let's get married?"

For some reason, she uttered those words softly.

Perhaps it's because she has finally found that sense of belonging. This moment marks the beginning of her transformation from a young girl into a mature woman.

Seemingly sensing something amiss, Xiao Weiguo looked down at the willow leaves in his arms.

The unique fragrance of willow leaves emanating from that head of black hair made him suddenly realize something.

When did this girl become so bold?

She always avoided the topic of marriage when it came up, and Xiao Weiguo thought it was because she was too young and not mentally prepared, so he never pressured her about it.

Although the lustful soul stirring within him was becoming increasingly difficult to suppress, he still respected Liu Ye's wishes and waited until she was mentally prepared before discussing marriage.

"What's wrong? Why did you suddenly bring this up?"

Xiao Weiguo used his uninjured hand to gently brush a strand of hair from her forehead. His palm caressed her warm little face.

Liu Ye's gaze swept over Xiao Baojun, who was lying on the hospital bed. She shook her head and said softly.

"It's nothing, it's just that it would be so wonderful if two people could be together every day."

Then she looked up at Xiao Weiguo.

Don't you want to?

These words made Xiao Weiguo's heart pound.

The puppy doesn't want to.

"Of course I want to marry you as soon as possible. I'm just afraid you won't agree. Since you've already said so, let's get married as soon as our villa is built, okay?"
