Cao Maizi said unhurriedly, "It's not that your aunt doesn't want you to talk to your younger brother and sister-in-law, it's just that it's cold and the food will get cold soon. Eat quickly, and we can talk after you've eaten your fill."
Zhang Lianhua chuckled, "Eating doesn't prevent us from talking, so please eat, Auntie."
Since she was an elder and they were visiting her parents' home, Cao Maizi couldn't say anything more.
Zhang Lianhua then asked Su Xueli, "Sister-in-law, you haven't answered my question yet. Do you talk a lot with Ming Shen? He's a very sweet talker. You two just got married and haven't even finished your honeymoon yet, so he must have done a lot to make you happy, right?"
Su Xueli smiled and glanced at the people at the table. "It's not convenient to say this, is it? There are elderly people and children here. If you want to hear it, come to my house one of these days and I'll tell you properly."
"That's right, that's right. There are so many people eating here, so watch your words," an elderly woman said unhappily.
Immediately, others echoed this sentiment.
Zhang Lianhua suddenly became the clown, so embarrassed she wished she could disappear into the ground.
Su Xueli put down her chopsticks and whispered to Cao Maizi, "Mom, I'm full. I'm going home."
Cao Maizi got up with her and said, "Go to your sister-in-law's room and say something to your aunt before you leave."
Su Xueli followed Cao Maizi to the room where the new mother was giving birth. After saying goodbye to the mother and daughter-in-law, she went to the room with the male guests to call Wei Mingshen.
Cao Maizi wouldn't let her daughter-in-law go; she called Wei Mingshen out herself.
Wei Mingshen knew what was going on, so he didn't drink or play drinking games with them. He just ate heartily and was full by now.
"You and Shirley should go back now that you've eaten. Your father and I will wait a while before leaving," Cao Maizi said to her son.
Wei Mingshen asked his mother in a low voice, "Have you finished eating the pear?"
Cao Maizi's face tightened. "Even your mother doesn't trust you. With you by my side, you're worried your wife won't eat well?"
Wei Mingshen smiled and said, "Don't worry, don't worry. Mother, Uncle and Cousin are busy entertaining guests, so I'll leave quietly. You can tell them later."
He pushed his bicycle out from the corner of the yard and beckoned Su Xueli to walk out of the yard.
Just then, Zhang Lianhua, who was preoccupied with thoughts of him, saw him. She was shocked and hurriedly ran out to stop him, "Brother Mingshen, where are you going!"
Wei Mingshen groaned, but she still saw him.
He said briefly, "Your sister-in-law is urging me to go back. You go and take care of the guests. Goodbye."
With that, he straddled the car seat and gestured for Su Xueli to sit down as well.
“We can’t leave, we haven’t explained things clearly yet.” Zhang Lianhua ran to the front of their car and grabbed the handlebars.
Wei Mingshen narrowed his eyes, "Second sister-in-law, I didn't steal your needles or your thread, so why are you blocking my way?"
Zhang Lianhua smiled charmingly, "You did steal my needles and thread. Let me check when we get back."
As she spoke, she pushed his shoulder, her smile utterly captivating.
Su Xueli intervened, "Second sister-in-law, Ming Shen and I have things to do at home, please move aside. He's not your second brother, he's your cousin, please don't touch him, please have some self-respect."
Zhang Lianhua, with her thick skin, didn't hold back at all after hearing this. Instead, she moved even closer to Wei Mingshen, looking at Su Xueli with disdain and asking, "I heard that my cousin's marriage to you was arranged by my aunt and uncle. Does he have someone else in his heart? Sister-in-law, you're really thick-skinned. Aren't you jealous?"
Wei Mingshen's face darkened, and he was about to speak when Su Xueli stopped him. She said calmly, "I don't care if he has someone else in his heart, but he's mine now. Besides, the person in Mingshen's heart isn't you, is he?"
Wei Mingshen chuckled softly, his eyes full of admiration as he looked at her.
Zhang Lianhua's face looked like it was on fire.
