Chapter 163 Changing the Target (Part 1)

Yan Yan looked at her and asked, "Why did he look for me? Did he need something?"

Su Xueli said, "Maybe something's wrong. He also asked me to find you and invite you to his bathhouse for dinner, and I agreed."

Yan Yan looked at the stall with a troubled expression and said, "But I still have to work. The market will be closed for a while, but I can still sell some things."

Su Xueli said, "No rush. He'll be done at the bathhouse by the afternoon. I'll stay here with you to sell things. We'll go back to his place when we're done."

Yan Yan blinked her long eyelashes and smiled as she agreed.

She then answered Su Xueli's question: "I didn't come to the last episode because I had a cold and couldn't stand it."

Su Xueli asked with concern, "Are you fully recovered now?"

Yan Yan said, "I'm all better now. I've been taking medicine for a few days."

Su Xueli looked at her face carefully and said, "No wonder you don't look well, you look a bit pale. Yan Yan, I've been so busy these days that I haven't had time to look for you, and you haven't come to see me either. How have you been lately? Cui Huabiao hasn't been forcing you to curry favor with that Secretary Zhang anymore, has he?"

Yan Yan shook her head. "He hasn't contacted me these past few days, and my family hasn't made things difficult for me either, which is fine. It's just that his father and my father had a fight yesterday."

Su Xueli asked, "Why are the two fathers having a fight?"

Yan Yan smiled sadly: "It's all because of our marriage. The bad day has arrived, and his father came to my house to talk about the marriage. My father asked his father for my wedding gift, but his father was unwilling to give it. My father insisted, and the two of them started arguing."

Su Xueli smiled wryly, "How can you marry a wife without giving her a dowry? Your father-in-law wants to save money on this too? He's such a miser."

Yan Yan lowered her head helplessly.

Su Xueli said earnestly, "Yanyan, life is long. Think it over carefully. You don't have much time left."

Yan Yan remained silent.

After washing up, Wei Mingshen went to Shao Jiang's ticket office. Not seeing his wife, he asked Shao Jiang, "Hasn't your sister-in-law come out yet?"

Shao Jiang grinned, showing his big teeth: "My sister-in-law just came out. She went to the market to do something really good."

Wei Mingshen, wiping his wet hair with a towel, asked, "What great news is it that makes you so happy?"

Shao Jiang chuckled and said, "Sister-in-law went to find Yan Yan."

Wei Mingshen smirked at Shao Jiang's small round mirror, "It really is a good thing."

Now that no one was around, Shao Jiang came over and approached Wei Mingshen, saying, "Old Wei, what do you think about me and that Yan Yan?"

Wei Mingshen said, "Do you think it's okay just because I say so? We'll see if they even want you."

Shao Jiang retorted, "I'm a hundred times better than that Cui Huabiao, aren't I?"

"A hundred times better?"

Shao Jiang quickly replied modestly, "Not a hundred times better, but still much better than him, right?"

"You are a thousand times better than him."

"Hahaha!" Shao Jiang laughed as he lay on the bed.

After laughing, he became worried again: "Old Wei, I feel like I'm just wasting my time. Yan Yan doesn't seem to be interested in me."

Wei Mingshen said, "It's not that she wasn't tempted, it's that she didn't dare to be tempted. She had been engaged to that shorty Cui for several years, and he had always suppressed her. She felt that she was climbing the social ladder by marrying someone like him, so she didn't dare to have any other thoughts and was just waiting to marry him."

Shao Jiang said, "Yes, yes, that's right, especially traditional girls like Yan Yan. They think that once they find a man, they should be faithful to him for life, following him wherever he goes, without considering whether he's worth it. Sigh, poor girl."
