Chapter 205 Can I interpret this as you changing your mind? (Part 1)

Shao Jiang then asked, "Then tell me what you want to eat."

Yan Yan said, "I don't want to eat anything."

Shao Jiang asked considerately, "Is your stomach upset?"

Yan Yan nodded.

Shao Jiang said, "You still have to eat. I'll cook you some millet porridge with some yam and red dates."

Yan Yan whispered, "Snow Pear's kitchen might not have it."

Shao Jiang said, "I'll go buy it. You lie down, I'll be back soon."

After saying that, he got on his bicycle and sped off to the market.

As soon as he left, Yan Yan got up, went to the toilet, and then quickly washed up by pumping water from the well.

Thinking about how he reeked of alcohol, he realized he must have offended Shao Jiang earlier.

She had just finished washing up and was sitting in front of the mirror combing her hair when she heard Shao Jiang coming back outside. She quickly tied her hair up with a handkerchief.

"Hey, why are you up? If you're not feeling well, just lie down. I'll call you when I've finished cooking," Shao Jiang told her as he saw her leave.

Yan Yan has never been lazy in her life, so how could she lie there and let others serve her? She smiled and said, "It's okay, I'll help with the cooking."

Shao Jiang put the things in his pocket into the kitchen and said, "I don't need your help. If your stomach is upset, just lie down. Hurry up and listen to me."

Yan Yan's heart was warmed, but she couldn't bear to let him cook by himself, so she said, "Then I'll sit down and help you start the fire."

“I said no, and that means no. Why won’t you listen?” Shao Jiang raised his voice.

Yan Yan didn't dare to insist any longer, so she smiled at him and obediently went back to her room to lie down.

She felt like she'd never had so much free time in her life, and someone was even cooking for her and caring about her upset stomach...

The sweet aroma of millet porridge mixed with jujubes wafted into her nose, instantly whetting her appetite and making her stomach rumble.

Just as she was craving an apple, it was handed to her, followed by Shao Jiang's apologetic voice: "Hehe, I'm such a clumsy person. I was in such a hurry to cook porridge for you that I forgot to give you the apple. Have an apple to soothe your throat and whet your appetite. The meal will be ready soon."

Yan Yan looked at the bright red apple, her nose tingled, and she almost burst into tears. She quickly reached out, took the apple, and took a bite. Shao Jiang smiled at her and then ran back to the kitchen.

The apples were so fragrant and sweet that they brought tears to Yan Yan's eyes.

Can you believe it? Yan Yan has never eaten a whole apple in her entire life.

Her family was poor, so they naturally wouldn't buy apples to eat on a regular basis. When they bought apples for holidays, it was only for visiting relatives. Even if guests came to visit and were given apples, she wouldn't get a chance to eat them.

The apple helped clear the lingering effects of the alcohol in her stomach, making her feel much better. She got out of bed and threw the apple core into the tilled ground in the yard. Just then, Shao Jiang finished cooking and came out of the kitchen. Seeing her, he said, "Dinner's ready, come and eat."

Yan Yan hummed in agreement and went to the kitchen.

They immediately exclaimed, "Wow, this millet porridge looks so delicious! It's very appetizing!"

The millet porridge was cooked to the perfect consistency, with yellow millet, red dates, and white yam – a combination that is pleasing to the eye and good for the stomach.

Shao Jiang handed her the chopsticks and said, "Drink slowly, don't burn yourself. Your stomach is sensitive to both cold and heat, and prefers warm temperatures."

Yan Yan obediently picked up the bowl and slowly blew on it while drinking.

"Have some pickled vegetables to whet your appetite," Shao Jiang said, placing a piece of pickled cucumber into her bowl.

"Mmm." Yan Yan took a bite of the pickled vegetable.
