Chapter 100 Going to the Provincial Capital (Part 2)

"Help!" Qin Xiaoyu cried out once, and a large hand covered her mouth.

With the lingering smell of alcohol on her hands, Qin Xiaoyu felt a tightness in her chest, her vision blurred, and she felt like she was about to lose consciousness.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

She could hear her own heartbeat. She couldn't give in, she couldn't let anything happen to her. She still had children to raise, she had to save herself!

"Ouch, bite me!"

Qin Xiaoyu bit the person covering her and ran away. Her mouth was temporarily free, but her body was still controlled. She was being dragged along and was about to enter the alley.

"Let go of me, I am Qi Si's man."

As soon as Qin Xiaoyu finished speaking, she felt her body go slack, and her bottom slammed heavily to the ground. The men seemed to have sobered up a bit, and the person holding Qin Xiaoyu unconsciously let go.

"Bullshit! Listen to her, I'm still one of Qi Si's men!" Someone immediately reacted and reached out to pull Qin Xiaoyu again.

"You can find out who Qi Si's god-sister is, and who helped him open the Sichuan hot pot restaurant." Qin Xiaoyu had calmed down, her voice was steady and gloomy, and the others fell silent again.

"I heard that Qi Si opened a restaurant and is making a lot of money."

"I heard he has a god-sister, is that you?"

"That Qi Si is an old beast, let's not cause him any trouble."

The group of people slowly backed away from Qin Xiaoyu.

Qin Xiaoyu slowly stood up from the ground, gently patting the dust off her body, unhurried, as if she were facing not someone who wanted to harm her, but her subordinates, her allies.

"You believe what this little wench says?" one of the guys said, unconvinced, and took two more steps toward Qin Xiaoyu.

Qin Xiaoyu watched him calmly, then slowly raised her head and stared intently into his eyes.

"Believe it or not, if you lay a finger on me today, Qi Si will come to kill you tomorrow. You can run to the ends of the earth for the rest of your lives, just don't come home again..." Qin Xiaoyu's voice was low and deep, like she was chanting a spell. The group of people had just been working up a sweat, and when the wind blew, their backs turned cold and they shivered.

"Qi Si is not someone to be trifled with; he'll even rip out someone's guts when he kills them..."

One of the most timid among them couldn't help but turn and run away, and the others chased after him like rabbits.

"A bunch of cowards!" Qin Xiaoyu said disdainfully, but she found that her legs felt like they were filled with lead and she couldn't move them at all.

"Qin Xiaoyu, is that you?"

It was Zhou Xing's voice. Qin Xiaoyu felt her body go limp, and the strength that had been supporting her instantly disappeared. She knelt down on the ground.

Zhou Xing rushed over and hugged her.

"What’s wrong with you?"

"Take me back." Qin Xiaoyu's teeth chattered, her jaw trembling like a sieve, and she managed to squeeze out just four words.

Zhou Xing picked her up in a princess carry and strode towards the military district guesthouse.

“Things…” Qin Xiaoyu caught sight of the things scattered by the roadside, and her greed was aroused again.

"Is that yours? Why is it left here?" Zhou Xing found it increasingly suspicious.

"No, no more, let's go back!" Qin Xiaoyu tried, but she was still too weak to move. It was unrealistic for Zhou Xing to carry her and all her things, so she gave up.

"What happened to you? Did someone hurt you?" Zhou Xing suddenly stopped and stared at Qin Xiaoyu, asking.

"Let, let, I scared you away. I signed up for Qi Si's name." Qin Xiaoyu said with difficulty, trying to sound natural, but her mouth was trembling so badly that she couldn't speak fluently.

"Let's go back." Zhou Xing stopped asking questions and strode forward with Qin Xiaoyu in his arms.

It looked like the same road, but he had a good sense of direction, and after a few turns, he saw the large sign of the military district guesthouse standing out under a 100-watt light bulb.

Once inside the guesthouse, Qin Xiaoyu struggled to get down from Zhou Xing's arms, but she couldn't. Firstly, she was too weak, and secondly, Zhou Xing was holding her too tightly, so she couldn't break free.

Zhou Yue was shocked when she opened the door and saw the two of them.

"What's wrong? I told you not to let Xiaoyu go out, but she won't listen!"

"Shut up, take care of her!" Zhou Xing threw Qin Xiaoyu onto the bed, turned around and walked out.

"Are you alright? You look so pale..." Zhou Yue helped Qin Xiaoyu sit up.

"It's okay, I'm going to take a shower." Qin Xiaoyu staggered towards the bathroom.

Zhou Yue followed anxiously to the door, only to be locked out.

She turned on the tap, squatted down on the ground, and burst into tears. The shock, grievance, and fear she had just experienced all rushed back to her, and she couldn't bear it anymore.

She didn't know how long she had been crying, but she felt dizzy and lightheaded, and her chest felt increasingly tight, as if she was about to vomit.

She took a deep breath, adjusted herself, took off her wet clothes, stood under the tap, tilted her head back, and let the hot water flow down from above, slowly warming her body.

"Little Fish, come out quickly, hurry up!" Zhou Yue called urgently from the doorway.

Qin Xiaoyu hurriedly dried her hair and grabbed a white bathrobe to put it on. The bathrobe was large, and since she was petite, it covered her completely.

As she pushed open the door, she instinctively took two steps back. Zhou Xing was standing in the doorway, along with two other men whose faces she would never forget—they were from that group of drunkards.

"Is it them?" Zhou Xing asked, his face ashen.

"What did you do?" Qin Xiaoyu noticed a scratch on Zhou Xing's face and asked nervously.

"Answer me, is it them?" Zhou Xing coldly bypassed her question.

"You got into a fight? Are you hurt?" Qin Xiaoyu seemed not to hear him. She walked to his side as if in a dream, raised her hand, and placed her delicate little hand on his cold face.

Just as Zhou Xing was about to speak, he suddenly closed his mouth tightly, gritted his teeth, and a tear flashed in his eyes.

"I'm asking you a question, is it them!" Zhou Xing roared, shoving Qin Xiaoyu aside.

Qin Xiaoyu looked at the two people, who were trembling all over and could no longer stand, their eyes full of pleading.

She had calmed down. Zhou Xing had caught them, and it wouldn't be a simple beating. With the Zhou family's power, these two would suffer a terrible fate. Although they were despicable, they didn't deserve to die. Besides, it wouldn't be good for the Zhou family to cause too much trouble in the provincial capital, and she shouldn't add too much trouble for them.

"No," Qin Xiaoyu finally spoke.

"Take another look." Zhou Xing didn't believe her.

"No," Qin Xiaoyu said firmly.

Although Zhou Xing was unwilling, he couldn't do anything about it, so he opened the door and growled at the two of them, "Get out!"

The two of them ran out in a panic, and Qin Xiaoyu noticed that there were guards at the door.

"Zhou Yue, you stay with her." Zhou Xing instructed, then walked out and slammed the door shut, a gesture that served as a protest against Qin Xiaoyu's lie.

"Little Fish, sigh." Zhou Yue hesitated, as if she wanted to say something but then stopped.

Qin Xiaoyu climbed into bed and drifted off to sleep. In her daze, she heard the door open; Hanhan had returned. Zhou Xing's mother came over, checked on her younger sister, asked a few questions, and then left.

She didn't want to open her eyes; she just felt exhausted. Her eyelids felt as heavy as if weighed down by a stone, and a fire burned in her chest.
