It's September now, and the weather in the north is getting cooler. Qin Xiaoyu pedaled hard, but she still broke out in a sweat.
When she left home, she glanced at the worn-out alarm clock; it was already 7:40. According to the information provided by the original host, it would take her forty minutes to ride to the textile factory, meaning she was definitely late.
When she arrived at the factory gate, it was tightly closed. Fortunately, this wasn't the first time the host had been late, and Qin Xiaoyu quickly came up with a solution.
"Sir, please open the door. I'm a bicycle valet; my bicycle broke down on the way, so I'm a little late..."
"A little late? Look what time it is! If you're any later, you'll be having lunch." The gatekeeper poked his head out of the window, amused by her annoyance, and tapped his watch to show her.
9:10? Good heavens, how long did she ride her bike?
"Master, please open the door. My husband just passed away not long ago, and I have young children at home. I'm busy as soon as I get up in the morning..." Qin Xiaoyu was still pitifully pouring out her story when the gatekeeper recognized her. He ran out to open the door and carefully let her in, completely abandoning his previous haughty attitude. It seemed he had suffered at her hands before.
It wasn't that Qin Xiaoyu loved her job and insisted on going to work; it was just that the word "lunch" made her determined to come in. There was no food at home anyway, so she wanted to solve lunch first.
"I thought you weren't coming," the class monitor said irritably, but judging from his eyes, his words weren't firm enough. The host was a feisty little firecracker at work that no one dared to mess with.
Qin Xiaoyu's job was as a machine operator. Each shift was assigned to a specific person, and if she wasn't there, the shift leader would have to fill in. Qin Xiaoyu quickly changed into her work clothes and took over. To be fair, the original host's technique was quite good; she could handle it after a little practice.
Whether it was from hunger or from being too weak after recovering from a serious illness, she felt sweating profusely after working for a while and couldn't continue. Soon the winding was in disarray, and the squad leader saw it from afar and rushed over to save the day.
"I feel terrible, I feel like throwing up," Qin Xiaoyu said with difficulty, then turned and ran outside.
