Chapter 201 You Are Not My Destiny

“If these bastards catch up, it’ll be troublesome. Get them out of here at the farm headquarters as soon as possible.” Sister-in-law Ge looked back nervously.

"Then what will you do?" Qin Xiaoyu was worried that leaving Sister-in-law Ge and the two children behind would be a disadvantage.

"Girl, you're being silly. He might dare to mess with you, but he wouldn't dare to mess with us. We're locals, and everyone has relatives here. If he were to touch us, he'd wipe us out completely. He can't afford to do that."

There was a commotion behind them, and Shi Zhuzi led his men out in pursuit. Qin Xiaoyu never dreamed that she would end up in the deep mountains and forests experiencing a scene straight out of a movie.

The moon hung alone in the sky, everything was white, the routes were indistinct, the horse ran desperately, its nostrils puffing out hot air.

The snow on the road was so thick that you couldn't see the road at all.

"We didn't go to the wrong place, did we?" Qin Xiaoyu asked worriedly.

"Don't worry, the horse knows the way," said Old Ge without turning his head.

Qin Xiaoyu finally felt relieved and breathed a sigh of relief. She then looked down at Hanhan, only to find him staring at her with wide, unwavering eyes.

"Son, what's wrong? Are you scared stiff?"

"You're my mom? Am I dreaming?" Hanhan murmured in her sleep.

"It's not a dream, it's real. Mom is here to take you home." Qin Xiaoyu hugged Hanhan tightly; they were finally reunited.

Tang Wenwen was already at Ge Laosao's house, all ready to go. They boarded the tanker truck without stopping. Although they knew they were safe now, everyone was too nervous to speak.

Ge Laosao took them to the train station, but worried that something might happen at home, so he went straight back.

Tang Wenwen went inside to buy train tickets and came out after a while, with six tickets in her hand.

"Why did you buy so many?" Qin Xiaoyu took the tickets and saw that three were for going home, and they wouldn't board the train until noon. The other ticket was for going north, and they would be arriving at the station in ten minutes.

"Hurry up, get on the train." Tang Wenwen dragged them toward the train station.

"Why are we heading north?" We had just boarded the train and settled in when it started moving.

"Waiting a few more hours is too unsafe. Let's leave first." Tang Wenwen breathed a sigh of relief.

They randomly chose a station to get off the train and bought new tickets home.

This is a small, deserted station. Only the ticket window is lit, and a man and a woman are chatting and laughing inside.

"Comrade, I'd like to use the phone," Qin Xiaoyu said loudly from the window.

"Not for the public!" The female flight attendant walked over and forcefully pulled the window shut.

Qin Xiaoyu had no choice but to retreat. Tang Wenwen, holding Hanhan, sat on the bench, shivering from the cold. There were still several hours before they could get on the bus, which was going to be tough.

"The child will catch a cold if this continues."

They left in a hurry, without having time to bring any food, only a bag they had taken with them. Qin Xiaoyu had a sudden inspiration; she rummaged in the bag and found two unopened boxes of Daqianmen cigarettes. She took them out, put them in her pocket, and walked towards the window.

With the female flight attendant gone, Qin Xiaoyu decides to use her beauty to seduce him.

"Comrade, I want to make a phone call home. It's just the two of us women with a child. Please help me." Qin Xiaoyu stared at the male flight attendant with teary eyes.

The male flight attendant hadn't seen Qin Xiaoyu's face clearly before, but now that he realized she was a beauty, his attitude immediately changed, and he waved to her.

Qin Xiaoyu quickly gave Tang Wenwen a look, and they squeezed into the office together.

The male flight attendant, surprised by the arrival of three people, looked rather displeased. Qin Xiaoyu quickly shoved the cigarette in her hand at him, and his expression brightened.

"Sit down, it's warmer here. What if you bring a child on a night train and they catch a cold?"

"I'd like to borrow the phone..."

"Come on, go ahead and hit me." The male flight attendant was very solicitous. This woman was more than just a beauty; she was also very generous.

"Little Fish! Where are you?" Qi Si's roar came from the phone.

"Brother, you're back! I've found Hanhan, I'm taking him home right away!" Qin Xiaoyu choked up.

"Good job, girls. I'll come pick you up," Qi Si said after a pause.

It was morning when Qin Xiaoyu carried Hanhan out of the station.

She took her first serious look at the city; it felt both familiar and strange. The rising sun painted the buildings with golden light.

Qi Si quickly came forward, snatched Hanhan into his hands, and kissed him hard on the face several times. Hanhan hugged his neck and called him "Uncle".

"I'm relieved to see you back." Qi Si's eyes were bloodshot, probably because he hadn't slept all night.

Hanhan suddenly struggled violently, so Qi Si had no choice but to put him on the ground. He ran to the side as fast as he could.

"Grandpa!" This cry contained a thousand grievances.

Without even looking, Qin Xiaoyu knew that this wasn't his biological grandfather, but Commander Zhou.

Commander Zhou jogged up to greet them, and the two of them hugged each other tightly.

"You told him?"

"Yes, I went to your house as soon as I got back and waited for your call. They called just then, and I told them your train number." Qi Si seemed a little hesitant as he said this, which Qin Xiaoyu noticed, and she suddenly understood something.

Qin Xiaoyu looked carefully in the direction of Commander Zhou.

Among the men in military uniforms behind him, one stood out with an exceptionally tall and slender figure. Although his hat was pulled low, she still recognized him.

"It's him? He's back?" Qin Xiaoyu murmured, tears streaming down her face.

“Yes, he’s back. We’ve talked. I told him everything that happened after he left.” Qi Si reached out his hand, wanting to comfort Qin Xiaoyu, but ultimately didn’t.

Commander Zhou was about to take Hanhan into the car when he turned around to ask Qin Xiaoyu for her opinion.

"Mom, come here!" Hanhan came over and took Qin Xiaoyu's hand.

Qin Xiaoyu glanced at Qi Si, hesitated, and didn't move.

"Go ahead," Qi Si encouraged.

Commander Zhou and Hanhan got into a car and sped away. Zhou Xing stood in front of the second car and opened the door for Qin Xiaoyu.

"Little Fish, I'm sorry." Zhou Xing's voice had changed a lot; it lacked its original domineering tone and became much lower.

"You were powerless to help, so there's no need to apologize." Qin Xiaoyu's tears had already dried.

"I was too naive, I thought everything was too simple, that's why you got hurt like this..."

"Let's not talk about the past."

"Okay, I'll listen to you."

"You're back."

"Yes."

"They returned unharmed."

"Yes."

“Then I can take back what I promised you. We…” Qin Xiaoyu looked at Zhou Xing beside her.

He kept his eyes fixed ahead, and apart from the movement of his Adam's apple, there was no indication of any emotional fluctuation in him.

Let's break up.

"good."

Zhou Xing answered almost without hesitation.

Qin Xiaoyu's last glimmer of hope had been extinguished.

She turned her face to the car window, where her own little world awaited her.

The wife is right; she shouldn't give in to the same man again. Men are all heartless jerks; she has more important things to do and can't waste her time on them.
