Chapter 326 Zhou Yue's Energy

Xiao Jin was also trapped in the car, in an awkward position, her head almost touching her feet, but she could hear Wang Jian calling her name with heart-wrenching cries: "Xiao Jin! Xiao Jin!"

Tears welled up in her eyes. This was the price of recklessness, too high.

On Zhou Yue's third day in Guangzhou, Deng Jianyan found her. By then, she had been visiting one-third of the shelters day and night.

“There are so many shelters in Guangzhou,” Zhou Yue exclaimed.

She doesn't hold grudges, and Deng Jianyan was so ashamed that he couldn't even lift his head.

He had already made a silent vow in his heart that he would protect this woman. She was a gift from heaven, and if he lost her, he would never meet such a good woman again.

The afternoon Xiao Jin was taken away, they walked through the gates of the shelter and saw her name on the registration form.

"Juvenile detention center," Deng muttered to himself, his mind blank.

Zhou Yue was much more rational than him and asked to see Wang Jian.

Wang Jian was beaten black and blue. He didn't recognize them, but when he heard Deng Jianyan's name, he burst into tears, prostrated himself at his feet, and begged him to save Xiao Jin.

"Stand up, act like a man!" Zhou Yue completed the formalities and brought Wang Jian out.

"Give him some money and let him go." Deng Jianyan didn't even want to look at Wang Jian. No wonder he could just disappear from the face of the earth right away.

“You sent him away. What if he doesn’t come home? How will you explain it to Xiao Jin when she comes back?” Zhou Yue poked Deng Jianyan’s head hard.

The juvenile detention center's response was clear: this isn't your home, and you can't just take someone away whenever you want.

Deng Yujin is not a child; she will be punished for doing bad things.

In the end, Zhou Yue persuaded them to meet Xiao Jin.

"Dad!" Xiao Jin was separated from them by an iron fence. As soon as she saw them, she rushed over, grabbed Deng Jianyan's hand tightly, and cried loudly, "Dad! Save me!"

"Don't worry, I will definitely save you." Zhou Yue didn't cry.

Xiao Jin, who was crying with Ma Jianyan, looked up and looked at Zhou Yue seriously. For the first time, she felt a sense of dependence on this woman.

After being released from the juvenile detention center, Deng remained silent.

"You should at least try to save him." He hadn't taken Wang Jian inside yet, and was waiting at the door, not daring to leave. Seeing Deng Jianyan's red eyes from crying, he knew they must have met.

"Easy for you to say! This is Guangzhou! How can we save her!" Deng Jianyan glared, wishing he could kill Wang Jian with his eyes. He was the one who started this whole thing. If he hadn't run away from home with Xiao Jin, Xiao Jin would still be living a life of luxury at home.

Wang Jian understood perfectly; he was practically dying from self-reproach. This incident not only tormented him but also severely wounded his pride. It turned out that his abilities were utterly inadequate to protect Xiao Jin; it was all his fault.

Back at the hotel, Zhou Yue booked a double room for Deng Jianyan and also let Wang Jian stay there.

"Why do you care about him! Saving Xiao Jin is the priority!" Deng Jianyan said irritably.

"How can we save them?" Zhou Yue asked.

"I...I don't know," Deng said helplessly. Here, the mountains are high and the emperor is far away, and their circle of friends is too far away to help them.

"Go buy some newspapers and come back." Zhou Yue was a little tired from walking and leaned wearily against the headboard.

"You still have the leisure to read the newspaper now?" Deng Jianyan's anger had lost its power; he was dominated by a sense of powerlessness, like a deflated balloon.

“Just buy it when I tell you to, it’s useful!” Zhou Yue glared at him.

“I’ll go.” Wang Jian stood up, and Zhou Yue gave him two yuan.

Wang Jian returned quickly. The cultural atmosphere in Guangzhou was far superior to that in his hometown in Northeast China, with a dazzling array of newspapers and magazines. Zhou Yue only read the government-related content, continuing until it was almost dark before finally stretching.

"Go downstairs and make a call," Zhou Yue said as she headed to the front desk on the first floor.

Deng Jianyan heard her sweetly calling him "uncle" and "elder brother" on the phone, as if she were using all her connections.

"Okay, I've found Uncle Chen's phone number." Zhou Yue quickly wrote down a number on the paper.

"Can't you just look up the phone book?" Deng Jianyan noticed that Zhou Yue was a bit slow.

“You’re wrong. Some people can’t be reached just by calling from the outside. If that were the case, any Tom, Dick, or Harry could call. I need internal phone numbers. And that’s something only close people wouldn’t know.”

Zhou Yue dialed a number and immediately called out sweetly, "Uncle Chen."

"Hehe, Uncle Chen has such sharp ears, he recognized me as Xiaoyue right away. Xiaoyue missed you too, that's why I came to see you." Zhou Yue's tone was very affectionate, like a little girl coaxing her elder.

"You're not in Guangzhou?" Zhou Yue's face darkened, and Deng Jianyan couldn't help but lean closer.

"Yes, I'm not in Guangzhou, I'm in Hong Kong. Wait for me in Guangzhou for a few days, I'll come back and have some fun with you. Why didn't you bring that old man, your father, with you? It's been so long since I've tormented him, I'm still thinking of playing a couple of rounds with him." The voice on the phone wasn't loud, but it was clear enough to be heard clearly; it belonged to an elderly man with a booming voice.

"Uncle Chen, I can't wait, it's urgent! My daughter has been taken to a juvenile detention center!" Zhou Yue said anxiously.

"Your daughter? Where did you get a daughter?"

“Uncle Chen, I’ve remarried. She’s my stepdaughter.” As Zhou Yue said this, she couldn’t help but glance at Deng Jianyan, her face flushed.

"Oh, I see. That old man, your dad, never tells me anything!"

“My daughter is innocent. She wouldn’t steal money. I know her!” Zhou Yue kept insisting.

"Xiaoyue, I have to go to a meeting right now, wait for me." The phone clicked off.

"That's it?" Deng Jianyan was somewhat disappointed. They had been chatting enthusiastically, and he thought there was hope, but the phone just hung up like that.

“Uncle Chen is very busy, but he will definitely make arrangements for us.” Zhou Yue led them back upstairs.

“He doesn’t even know where you live, or Xiao Jin’s name. How can we make arrangements?” Deng Jianyan became more and more disheartened as she thought about it.

"Alright, stop thinking about that useless stuff. I told you, Uncle Chen won't abandon me. I used to ride on his shoulders when I was little, he spoils me even more than my dad." Zhou Yue rolled her eyes at Deng Jianyan and beckoned Wang Jian over.

"Go buy some food, shrimp dumplings and crab roe buns, pack a lot." She took out ten yuan and handed it to Wang Jian.

Deng Jianyan saw this and his face grew even darker. Qin Xiaoyu was right; Zhou Yue had absolutely no concept of money. In her eyes, it was all just small change.

Wang Jian returned quickly; he's a clever kid, and everything was perfect. He even brought chopsticks, napkins, and five bottles of mineral water.

The bottled water wasn't arranged by Zhou Yue; there was just one by her bedside, and it was almost empty. She gave Wang Jian an approving look.

Zhou Yue ate the most, while Wang Jian, preoccupied and embarrassed, only ate a couple of bites before pushing the food aside.
