"No!" Qin Xiaoyu wanted to make one last attempt to save her; the timing wasn't right, it was just a hair's breadth away.
"Oh my god! Oh my god!" Commander Wang rolled down like a ball, and Qin Xiaoyu hurriedly slipped out of A Lei's arms. A Lei didn't dare to chase after her.
Qin Xiaoyu walked through the living room and went straight out the door to her bedroom. She locked the door, still blushing and her heart pounding.
In my previous life, although I dated my scumbag boyfriend for three years, it was mostly a long-distance relationship. When we met, there was no passion between us as a couple; a mere touch of the lips was considered a kiss.
Now she understands that it was just a lack of love, not respect.
He said he would wait for her and respect her, yet he got another woman pregnant. That says it all.
She was nothing more than his ATM.
But what does it matter?
Qin Xiaoyu suddenly realized that three years had passed since her reincarnation, and she had finally shaken off the shadows of her past life.
She is Qin Xiaoyu, the famous Widow Tang, and those are all her relatives.
She had a destination in mind, and she had to face it. Since she had decided to bring her grandmother to live with her, she had to meet her.
Originally, I wasn't mentally prepared enough, worrying about this and that, but now I don't care anymore.
My maternal grandmother's bungalow was slated for demolition, so amidst the festive atmosphere of the Lunar New Year, there was a touch of melancholy. The bright red couplets contrasted sharply with the dilapidated, crooked house, while children in new clothes searched for surviving firecracker debris, getting one last whiff of the excitement.
One child was lucky enough to pick up a small string of duds, and the other children cheered and surrounded him.
Qin Xiaoyu walked to the outside of her maternal grandmother's house. The door was ajar. She hesitated whether to go in or not when a little boy popped out. He was her third maternal uncle's cousin. He was chubby and broad-shouldered, and looked a lot like her aunt. He had big eyes and double eyelids and was a handsome man.
"Sister? Don't go in, Grandma's in a bad mood." Xiao Dong quickly pulled Qin Xiaoyu out.
"What's wrong now?" Qin Xiaoyu could already hear faint shouts and curses coming from inside.
My maternal grandmother was a notorious shrew; she could curse anyone without repeating herself. She had many children, more than ten, but only five survived. She was cold-hearted and had a detached personality.
My maternal grandfather was afraid of his wife and was very prudent in protecting himself. Whenever my maternal grandmother got angry, he would immediately ride his bicycle out to go drink with his old chess friends.
Needless to say, my third uncle was kneeling in the house again. Of the three sons and two daughters, my maternal grandmother loved her youngest son and youngest daughter the most, and she would beat or scold the other children.
Third Uncle suffered relatively little indignity because he had a good temper and could be coaxed a few times. But when it came to Second Uncle, a hothead, he would have to break several belts to vent his anger.
Qin Xiaoyu grew up in this violent family, living in constant fear. She didn't know what had gotten into her grandmother, who was about to unleash a bloody storm.
Only now does she understand that her grandmother suffered from depression and bipolar disorder. Life in those days was too oppressive, making it hard to breathe. Various mental illnesses did exist, but they were not taken seriously and were simply mistaken for a bad temper.
A scream came from inside the house; it was her third aunt's voice. Qin Xiaoyu could no longer bear it and rushed inside.
"How dare you talk back!" Grandma was holding her usual weapon, a feather duster. This thing was really effective at hitting people; it would leave a bloody welt.
My third uncle had already been hit once, and my grandmother raised her hand to hit him again. My third aunt was standing to the side, sobbing and whimpering, but she didn't dare to stop her.
Third Uncle is a blindly filial son. Qin Xiaoyu knows the bitterness in his heart and that he wants to endure it in order to have some peace at home. But how can this be enough to just endure?
“Speak your mind. You need to change your temper. Don’t hit your son who’s in his forties.” Grandma was short and thin. Qin Xiaoyu stepped forward and snatched the feather duster away.
"Little Fish? You've really got some nerve, coming to my house and pointing fingers at me!" When Grandma saw that it was Qin Xiaoyu, she immediately flew into a rage and vented all her anger on her third uncle.
"I've come to offer my New Year's greetings, and I'd also like to take this opportunity to discuss some serious matters." Qin Xiaoyu's gaze swept over them coldly.
"What important matter is it?" Grandma has one good point: she's quite snobbish. She glanced at the snack box in Qin Xiaoyu's hand, immediately estimated its price, and her expression softened.
Qin Xiaoyu gave her third aunt a look, and only then did she dare to help her third uncle up and stand aside.
“I’ve built a few buildings, and I was thinking of bringing you to live there. I came to ask what you think. If you don’t want to go, I’ll take my third uncle’s family instead.”
"You've been eating and drinking for free in our house for so many years, you heartless bastard, why won't you let me stay here!" Grandma was definitely being unreasonable.
"The child said she wanted to pick you up, she didn't say you couldn't come..." Auntie explained for Qin Xiaoyu, but before she could finish, Grandma gave her a stern look, and she swallowed her words back.
This grandmother has extremely skewed values. Qin Xiaoyu still remembers when she was little, her third uncle and aunt had a fight, and the next day at noon, her aunt came back to cook lunch.
Instead of comforting her daughter-in-law, the mother-in-law stood by and made sarcastic remarks to the neighbors: "I thought she was going back to her parents' home, but she actually came back and cooked a meal."
His tone was full of contempt.
My third aunt is kind and gentle, so I just don't bother arguing with her.
"Bring eight sedan chairs to invite me, but don't anger them and then refuse to go, or everyone will gossip about you." Grandma said, putting on airs.
"Let them talk behind my back then. There are plenty of people who will talk behind my back, a few more won't make a difference." Qin Xiaoyu said coldly, then pulled her third uncle out.
They had just stepped out the door when the metal box they had just brought in flew up, rolled a few times in the middle of the yard, and Grandma's cries rang out: "You heartless bastard! I was blind to have raised you!"
"Your maternal grandmother may have a sharp tongue, but she's a good person at heart." Third Uncle was truly sincere and had complete trust in his mother.
Qin Xiaoyu didn't want to argue with him.
"Third Uncle, Aunt, look, these are the blueprints. If there's anything wrong, tell me and I'll have someone change it." Qin Xiaoyu brought over the blueprints for the new building that was about to start construction. The houses here were different from the villas behind; they were standard six-story buildings, but the unit area was larger, with two households per building entrance, each with an area of over 100 square meters.
Most of the buildings constructed in the 1980s were small, with 45 to 60 square meters being the most popular design.
But that was precisely the time when families were most densely populated. With two children and two elderly people in their prime, it was difficult for three generations to live together. Those who did live together were crammed together, with no private space whatsoever.
Some families can only make use of the living room, so folding beds and sofas are also very popular.
The houses Qin Xiaoyu wants to build first address these issues by focusing on personal space. She believes that there are already quite a few people with purchasing power, and the power of the people is underestimated.
"This design is really good!" My third aunt is a teacher, and she teaches math, so looking at the blueprints is no problem for her.
“我看您的意见,如果觉得跟姥姥住不方便,就把你们的房子给分开。”秦小鱼看向三舅,在三舅妈那是巴不得分开,可这个大孝子的想法未必就是这样,要问清的好。
