Chapter 469 Are Leaves

This was supposed to be a matter of momentum, but the mastermind ran away, and the stepmother was at a loss. Of the group of children, Wang Jian was the oldest, Wang Meimei was the second oldest, and the remaining six were all around the same age, a bit young, and not very timid. Now that she was being asked to make a decision, who knew anything about this? They just stared at each other blankly.

"You wait! I'll come again tomorrow, every day! I don't believe you won't give me an explanation!" The stepmother pointed at Qin Xiaoyu, turned around and tried to run away, but the mud on the ground was too slippery, and she almost fell flat on her face.

A burst of laughter erupted from upstairs.

"Stop right there." Qin Xiaoyu stepped forward and called out to her.

"What? You want to negotiate?" The stepmother perked up immediately when she saw Qin Xiaoyu take the initiative.

“Negotiation is only possible when the two sides are evenly matched. You’re not qualified to talk to me yet,” Qin Xiaoyu said with a smile.

"What do you mean?" The stepmother was a little confused. This young woman was quite pretty, and also a bit unpredictable. She wondered what her background was.

"Let me tell you, I have something on Wang Meimei. She promised me that if she didn't cause any more trouble, I wouldn't call the police, otherwise she'd be in jail for several years. But now that you've come to cause trouble, I'll assume she's joining in, and I'll just call the police and have her arrested. Don't think she's just a little girl; she's no ordinary person. If she goes in for a few more years, I'm afraid you won't have a single day of peace when she gets out. She might even dare to stab you to pieces with a knife. Whether you can get her in jail or not is entirely up to you; you decide for yourself." Qin Xiaoyu spoke loudly, enunciating each word clearly, wanting Wang Meimei to hear everything.

This little girl isn't like Wang Jian; she's the type who won't suffer a loss right now. If her stepmother really dares to send her in, she'll skin her alive.

"I don't understand anything you're saying. I'm just a housewife, I don't understand. I'm leaving!" The stepmother shooed the little brat away in a hurry.

Just then, Factory Director Xie's car pulled up, and he quickly got out to ask Qin Xiaoyu what had happened.

"We need to hire a few security guards. The factory needs to be strictly managed from now on. We can't let anyone cause trouble. Without rules, there's no order."

When Qin Xiaoyu talks about work, she still has to maintain a certain air. Although Factory Director Xie is quite old, he listens to her and obeys her every whim.

"Director Cui, write down the names of all the people peeking through the windows to watch the commotion, and deduct it from their wages," Qin Xiaoyu instructed the workshop director.

This phrase works best; the densely packed heads at the window disappeared in an instant, and the roar of machines in the workshop resumed.

After the fight, Qin Xiaoyu felt refreshed and invigorated.

She had just silently reflected on her own problems. Scorpios like to maintain an air of mystery, which is fine, but wearing a mask in order to appear mature is a bit problematic.

Even in her twenties, deep down she was still that pitiful and helpless little girl, carrying a group of people on her frail shoulders, moving forward with heavy burdens.

She longed for someone to lean on, but no one offered her that shoulder. A-Lei didn't give her enough security; the more outstanding he was, the more afraid she was of losing him, and the more she had to pretend she didn't care.

This is the crux of the problem between her and A Lei: A Lei wants the real her behind the mask, but she makes all sorts of excuses to hide herself.

Qin Xiaoyu wished she could fly to A Lei immediately and start over with him.

"Little Fish, I'm back!" Xiao Mengting ran upstairs, full of energy, even more so than when she was in the cultural troupe.

"Sister Meng, how's the counter business going?"

"I brought all the contracts. We're here to pick up the goods. Come up with me, I'm afraid I won't be able to handle it well," Xiao Mengting said with a smile.

Qin Xiaoyu had no choice but to accompany her to the technical room. By the time she got rid of her, it was already dark.

Building No. 4 is brightly lit, and they're already preparing dinner.

Qin Xiaoyu entered the room and glanced around; A Lei wasn't there. The atmosphere in the room also seemed a bit off.

"Mom, Lei hasn't come down yet, right? I'll go call him." Qin Xiaoyu decided to take the initiative.

"A Lei is gone. This is a letter for you." The envelope handed over by Zhou Xing's mother contained only a thin sheet of paper.

He just said he needed to go back and rest for a while, and sort out his feelings.

Laifu left with him as well.

Qin Xiaoyu glanced at the sofa where he sat every day, feeling empty inside.

Dinner was a somber affair; apart from the soft clinking of chopsticks and plates, not a single word was spoken.

"Come on, wife, eat more vegetables, so you won't be constipated..." Deng Jianyan wanted to make Zhou Yue happy, but he wasn't paying attention and his words were a bit inappropriate. He became obedient after being glared at by Zhou Yue.

"Something seems to be missing," Zhou Xing's mother muttered.

"We're missing over a hundred pounds of a living person," Qi Si said in a muffled voice.

Silence fell over the dining table again.

"I didn't kick him out." Qin Xiaoyu felt an invisible pressure and felt she needed to explain.

“I know, you didn’t drive him, but you didn’t kill Bo Ren, and Bo Ren died because of you.” Zhou Yue suddenly started to speak eloquently.

"Look at your attitude! Do you expect me to immediately abandon my inhibitions and marry him?" Qin Xiaoyu said defiantly.

Everyone nodded, and not a single person tried to stop them. Qin Xiaoyu realized then that she was a complete failure as a person.

She was oblivious to what everyone else could see clearly.

She didn't do as well as she imagined, but everyone was being patient and tolerant of her.

At night, she tossed and turned, thinking about everything she had done with A Lei, and felt even more that she owed A Lei a lot.

Has he given in so many times that he has no way out?

Isn't it said that whoever falls in love first loses? Ah Lei lost.

She didn't win either.

Qin Xiaoyu buried her head in the pillow when she suddenly touched something fluffy. She pulled it over and found it was a chubby cake.

The cake became even more depressed, its golden eyes wide with tears.

Qin Xiaoyu kissed it again and again; the scent of A Lei on it had already faded.

She suddenly started missing A Lei, missing him terribly. The person who had been obediently following behind her turned around and found nothing; it felt awful.

This night is destined to be sleepless.

She simply got up and went to Are's room.

The locks have been changed back. He said he would restore them if he left. He really is a man of his word.

Everything in the room was still there, except for one person and one dog. The copy of "The Lover" was still face down on the sofa.

She picked it up and looked at it; it was the page where the male protagonist left to return to France.

Qin Xiaoyu put the book back, lay down on the sofa, slowly curled up, and cried.

"Little Fish, are you in there?" It was Zhou Xing's mother's voice from outside the door as she gently knocked.

"Here!" Qin Xiaoyu jumped up in a panic, her face flushed, like a boy caught doing something wrong.

"Go back to your room quickly, the phone keeps ringing." It turned out that Zhou Xing's mother had been woken up by the ringing phone.

Qin Xiaoyu hurriedly ran downstairs. How could she have forgotten that A Lei might call?
