Zuo Xiangyang was in a meeting, and they waited at the door for a long time before the person inside came out.
Strangely enough, after Bai Weiwei married Zuo Xiangyang, she became increasingly weak and listless due to lack of energy. Zuo Xiangyang, on the other hand, seemed to replenish her vital energy, making her more and more energetic.
I dyed my hair now and look more than ten years younger; I look like I'm only forty.
"We have something important to discuss with Bai Weiwei. Have you seen her, or do you have any clues about her whereabouts?" Qin Xiaoyu tried to be as polite as possible.
Upon hearing their purpose, Zuo Xiangyang frowned.
"Comrade Qin Xiaoyu, I want to make it clear that I divorced Bai Weiwei two years ago. She abused my power for personal gain, which has had a very bad impact on me personally, and I could no longer tolerate it."
"Then may I ask, where are your children?"
Zuo Xiangyang cleared his throat and said, "We don't have any children. You all know she has questionable morals, didn't you, Qin Xiaoyu, help find out? You know best, so I don't know where the children are."
"Don't know? That's a pretty official answer." Qin Xiaoyu clearly didn't believe him.
"You may not believe me, but I truly have no obligation to raise an illegitimate child," Zuo Xiangyang said righteously, leaving no room for doubt.
By this point, Qin Xiaoyu had to admire him. For a grown man to be in a place like the government office, wearing a dark green hat, and not be drowned in spittle, it was either because he had strong self-control or because he was too capable. No one dared to mess with him.
Qin Xiaoyu and A Lei came out of the building, both of them deep in thought.
He's lying.
"right!"
"Where to next?"
"kindergarten."
It was already past 3 p.m., and the kindergarten was quiet as all the children were taking their afternoon nap. The kindergarten teachers said this was the most beautiful time of the day.
Qin Xiaoyu first went to the kindergarten director to inquire about Bai Weiwei's son, Zuo Bin, but didn't find any useful clues.
Fortunately, the kindergarten director was very interested in Qin Xiaoyu. Now, Riyue Apparel has a huge influence in the city, and everyone is proud to work in the factory.
The principal, of course, had to keep an eye on this person; you can't afford to offend someone like that, in case you need them someday. So, she cooperated and called in the teacher of the class where Bai Weiwei's son was at the time.
A kindergarten class is managed by three people: a teacher who is in overall charge, an assistant who manages the children's eating, drinking and playing, and a student teacher who assists the assistant.
When Bai Weiwei was in power, she requested that a special teacher be assigned to mentor Zuo Bin. Later, when Bai Weiwei got into trouble, the teacher was withdrawn from the class, and Zuo Bin went with her, becoming the teacher who mentored him for the longest time.
"Was there anything unusual before he stopped coming to kindergarten?" Qin Xiaoyu asked the teacher.
"Zuo Bin is very naughty and always bullies other children. That day he scratched another child, and when the child's parents came to pick him up that evening and saw the wound, they were furious and beat Zuo Bin up. Although we tried to break it up, he still beat him very badly. This guy is really going all out on four or five-year-olds. There's nothing we can do; Zuo Bin was too arrogant before." The teacher sighed.
"Who picked him up last night?" Qin Xiaoyu grasped the key point. Now it seemed that the clues had gone cold because they couldn't find Bai Weiwei's contact person.
“She’s the Zuo family’s nanny, and she’s always taken care of him. After Bai Weiwei’s accident, I heard her mention it once, saying that someone was paying her to continue taking care of Zuo Bin.”
Who is it?
"She didn't say, and I didn't ask. But I guess..." the teacher hesitated.
"Go ahead and say it, it's okay."
"I'm telling you, I was just guessing. It's probably the child's maternal grandmother."
Well, the lead has gone cold again. The child's maternal grandmother is Qing Xiaoxu, but she can't even protect herself in prison.
"Give me the nanny's contact information," Qin Xiaoyu said, grasping at the last straw.
“What contact information do you have? I don’t think she’s from the city or from out of town. She’s probably from the suburbs looking for work.”
This sentence effectively cut off all clues.
After leaving the kindergarten, A Lei called home, but there was still no news from them.
They've already set up checkpoints at the bus and train stations, and there are also vehicle checks at the city exits, so it's likely that no one has left the city.
“Nanny groups exist too, let’s go to the family compound,” Qin Xiaoyu thought of a new idea.
Around 4 PM is when the nannies are out the most, buying groceries to prepare meals or picking up their children from school. The security guards at the gate are turning a blind eye to this; now, the access control system is just asking for trouble.
But since it's such a big car, we still need to ask about it.
"I'm going in to see someone. May I ask which building Zuo Xiangyang lives in?" A Lei swaggered out of the car. The security guard was a little confused when he didn't use an official title but called him by his name.
"Building 5. Hey, where are you from? You need to register." He called out as he saw A Lei get into the car and drive inside.
A Lei took out the letter of introduction that Lei Bingzheng had prepared for him, waved it at him, and the security guard didn't dare to say anything.
This was something A Lei and Qin Xiaoyu had discussed beforehand. They'd heard then that Zuo Xiangyang's and Qing Xiaoxu's families lived relatively close. This person was supposedly Qing Xiaoxu's nanny, but she mainly helped Bai Weiwei take care of the child, so she'd definitely be coming and going from Zuo Xiangyang's house quite often. Asking around near Building 5 might yield some information.
As soon as they turned to Building 5, they saw two women dressed as nannies come out of the building and walk over while chatting and laughing.
"Excuse me, where is Sister Liu, the nanny from Qing Xiaoxu's family, now?"
"Who are you?" As expected of the nanny in the compound, she was very vigilant. She looked up and sized up A Lei, and probably thought he looked kind, so she softened her tone. "The Qing family has all had an accident, and we haven't seen her for a long time."
"Is she the Qing family's nanny or the Zuo family's nanny?"
"Let's do both. It seems like they pay us for both jobs. Their job is better."
"What's so great about it? In the end, they all lost their jobs anyway," another nanny said sourly.
Do you know where she lives?
"I think she said she was in the suburbs, but I don't know anything else. We're from the city, and we don't know her well." The nanny's words revealed a sense of superiority.
Qin Xiaoyu knew it was hopeless. The fact that she said that meant she didn't take Sister Liu seriously and wouldn't pay attention to details.
The suburbs are so big, they're all in the east, west, south, and north, where am I supposed to look?
Just then, A Lei's cell phone rang; it was Wang Lei calling.
"I'll give you a clue. You remember the feud between Bai Weiwei and Zuo Xiangyang, right? There's an important person involved, Zuo Xiangyang's daughter, Bai Weiwei's classmate, Zuo Xiurong."
"Does she have a bad relationship with her father?"
"Yes, because her parents divorced, and Zuo Xiangyang damaged his health while undergoing rehabilitation, so he has always hated the mother and daughter."
She didn't attend Zuo Xiangyang's wedding.
“I have her address. You can go and ask her. That’s human nature; if you hate someone, you’ll definitely keep an eye on their movements.” Wang Lei’s words were spot on, and Qin Xiaoyu knew she had come to the right person.
